JK Rowling has announced she is writing her first book aimed
at adults, five years after the final book in her wildly successful
Harry Potter series.
The 46-year-old writer from Scotland became both a multi-millionaire
and a household name on the back of her seven Harry Potter fantasy
novels and the eight films based on them.
Despite being tight-lipped about the title, plot and release date of her new project, Ms Rowling said it would "explore new territory".
"Although I've enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book
will be very different to the Harry Potter series," she said in a
statement.

"The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success
has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical
progression to have a new publisher."
The new novel will be published - both in print and e-book form - by
Little, Brown and Company, which is owned by US-based Hachette Book
Group.
The Harry Potter series was printed by Scholastic in the US, Bloomsbury in Britain and other publishers around the world.
"I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown,
and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of
my writing life," the writer said.
Harry Potter's boy wizard storyline appealed to children and adults -
and the books which were released over a 10-year-period have sold more
than 450 million copies worldwide.
A spokesman for booksellers Waterstones said: "The news that a JK Rowling book is imminent is electrifying.
"She has an incomparably large fanbase and the potential audience for this book is staggering."
I bet the Book doesn't include the word "genitalia."
