Confidence for finding Madeleine grows
Updated: 16-Apr-2012
Scotland Yard detectives reviewing the case of missing Madeleine McCann are said to be confident about solving the mystery of her disappearance and hopes are high for the formal reopening of the case.
Since their review began in May 2011, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood and his team of 36 detectives and civilians are said to have formed “excellent” working relationships in Portugal.
Speaking to the Daily Express, a source close to the investigation said: “They are working extremely hard to solve the case in the sense that they want to be able to say what they believe has happened to the child. Their attitude is that it is solvable and they are working to that end.
“The approach is very professional and all officers are committed to doing their very best to understand existing evidence while looking for new evidence. They want definitive answers and are working to get to the truth. The investigation is gathering momentum.”
Although it remains in the hands of Portuguese authorities to formally reopen the case, later this year the Met Police will be completing a comprehensive report, inclusive of a series of recommendations that is hoped to lead to the reopening of the case.
With the fifth anniversary looming of their daughter’s disappearance from Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007, Kate and Gerry McCann have expressed that they do not want to appear in any interviews, where they may say or do something which could possibly harm the Scotland Yard review at this stage.
Instead, Kate will be releasing a paperback epilogue version of her book, Madeleine, on May 10, seven says after the anniversary.
The book looks into Kate and Gerry’s renewed hope for the case and how they will never give up hope for finding their daughter.

Unattributed (not surprisingly) and containing nothing new.
But I do wonder whether the bit about Healy & McCann not wanting to say anything that would prejudice the review isn't spin: More likely they know The End Is Nigh.
Anyway, they must have run out of things to say that aren't helpful.

The article doesn't say the police are confident about finding Maddie, just that they hope to find out what happened to her, which is somewhat different.

Same old, same old! Inferring that any previous
relationships between Portugal and NSY where
strained or non-existant?

Re: Algarve Resident/Confidence for finding Madeleine grows
This has Clarence written all over it, also to let the Portugese know that Kate has written a sequel.....I bet the Portugese will be furious that yet again
the McCanns and not Madeleiene are in the limelight.

Isn't this what the PJ said in their Final Report...........Four theories on what they thought happened to Madeleine???????

I'm just wondering if Jon Clark from the 'Olive Press' supplies these vague articles. It's not the same country, but also an expat newsletter. His writings are very pro and he has on occasion been the 'leak' to get the odd sighting in the tabloid press.
Yes, how could giving an interview prejudice the SY result? Aren't they in charge of what they say?

What a load of tosh Clarrie, you mean they don't wish to say or do anything to drop themselves in the doodoo any further.
In what way is begging for help to find Madeleine going to 'harm' the review? Don't they want her found?
I remember another 'interview' where Kate didn't want to answer questions but on that occasion she clearly stated she didn't mind if it 'harmed' the investigation.....

Re: Algarve Resident/Confidence for finding Madeleine grows
Interesting the title of the piece bears no resemblence to the content of the article. Only the headline mentions finding her, the article suggests they will find out what happened to her, two very different things.
Mind games by the McCanns imo. Many will see the headline in passing, perhaps not so many will read the content, therfore being left with the opinion she is "out there" and findable.
We have been here before with the McCanns stating they are saying nothing, for the good of the investigation and judicial secrecy etc. That did not stop them wheeling out Auntie Phil et al. No such tactics this time as yet. Only three left on the ship, Clarrie, Kate and Gerry.
Interesting times ahead I think.

Its always a.... 'close source'
A very similar 'story' was in the British media a few weeks ago, this one has used that one as the basis and just rehashed it

The use of the word epilogue in relation to the new bewk is rather unfortunate, when i looked up the defination. The words "play", "performer" and "dealing with the future of its characters" are quite apt. Most people would say it has been up-dated to take account of the review. Who first used the word epilogue - is it a translation issue ?
ep·i·logue also ep·i·log (p-lôg, -lg)
n.
1.
a. A short poem or speech spoken directly to the audience following the conclusion of a play.
b. The performer who delivers such a short poem or speech.
2. A short addition or concluding section at the end of a literary work, often dealing with the future of its characters. Also called afterword.

If they definitely did not know what had happened to their daughter and they thought the review was so positive, surely they would do interviews for this 5th anniversary and be saying things like, "After five years, we have not given up hope and we are feeling very positive about the Scotland Yard review. The police officers from the Met have been working very hard and we retain hope that our daughter might be found."

If they did not know what had happened to Madeleine how could they harm the review? If they are innocent then nothing will lead back to them so why keep quiet?

That's it! If innocent, there is nothing they could say that could implicate themselves. Innocent people don't need to keep silent. Guilty people need to make sure nothing slips out.
Re: Algarve Resident/Confidence for finding Madeleine grows
Is the Question
1 Who abducted Madeleine
2 What happened to Madeleine
3 Where is Madeleine now
4 Where was Madeleine on 3/4th May 2007
All very different questions.
