Panorama:Madeleine:The Last Hope...Thur 3rd May
Five years ago this week, Madeleine McCann disappeared from a family holiday apartment in the Algarve, Portugal, and has never been found. Her parents, Kate and Gerry, are adamant that their daughter was abducted by a predator and persuaded Prime Minister David Cameron to order a review of the case by the Metropolitan Police. Here, the senior UK investigator talks to Richard Bilton about how he is working collaboratively with Portuguese police and explains why he believes he has the best opportunity yet to establish the facts.
Very interesting wording

Abducted by a predator? They should at least be charged under the Children and Young Persons Act 1932. There is no minimum age for leaving children alone, but if a child comes to significant harm, the parents can be charged. If the McCanns believe Madeleine was abducted by a predator, they are admitting she has come to significant harm as a result of being left alone.

Isn't it!!!
This programme is a must see.
It was Bilton that did the last Panorama. And what a can of worms that was!

That says to me that Madeleine abducted by a predator is not a fact.

Ah, memories.
Interesting music beds they used.
Heroin by Velvet Underground and the theme from Twin Peaks.
Not to mention the pampas grass fluttering in the breeze.
All that was missing was rock and roll ...

Ooh, quick - call Carter Ruck! Somebody (other than Tony Bennett) is describing it all as a "mystery"!

We can live in hope, that someone has broken the circle and is going to put some facts, that we can all see on the t.v. True distance to the Tapas Bar. Mrs Fenns statement, Gaspars????????????? etc.

Good point jd... although I have a bad feeling about this programme. If things were heading towards arrests then surely the lead investigator wouldn't be talking to a BBC programme? What can he say? What will he say, some nonsense about an abduction?

Re: Panorama:Madeleine:The Last Hope...Thur 3rd May
Maybe this is the reason Gerry and Kate are refusing to do much publicity for 3rd may, if the programme doesn't dance to their tune who knows what questions they would face.
So it's a date here then? Us lot in front of the telly with our laptops

Me too. I just get a bad feeling that it will be the usual abduction clap trap. I wonder why the SIO has agreed to be interviewed by the Beeb and surely there is not much that he can really say about how the investigation is going?

Re: Panorama:Madeleine:The Last Hope...Thur 3rd May
I msure there is very little that can be said about the progress of the investigation. In the event that any part of it is discussed then surely a precedent for publishing the full review is being set. jimo

Re: Panorama:Madeleine:The Last Hope...Thur 3rd May
Let's not forget that we try to prevent airing of material that could be claimed to have the potential to influence any trial, so don't expect a Poirot style denouement.
I suspect the whole thing will be entirely unsatisfactory and merely give rise to yet more uncertainty.
How can it be otherwise?
Furthermore, I'm surprised the Lead Investigator of the SY Review is able to engage with this at all, let alone when the Review is still in process.
So what other "Lead Investigator" could it be? No names and just a cleverly worded synopsis that encourages readers to put two and two together and make ???
It's a wait and see job, if ever there was one.

Re: Panorama:Madeleine:The Last Hope...Thur 3rd May
Just had a quick look at the transcript of the first Panorama and Jeremy Vine was there! He's a staunch supporter I think and along with Louise Mensch and Dara O'Brain (!) been rude to tweeters. There's 2 sides to every story but when MP Mensch calls people 'ghouls' you think they'd check out the stories they're so supportive of.
The title is a bit worrying and also the fact that while the SY 'review' is still going on, it seems strange to broadcast now. I know it's the anniversary and hope it will be totally factual and not a leveson-type love fest. Maybe they'll resurrect Jane Hill's fine blood spray announcement and the first FSS results. In this strange saga, who knows?

Really?? Is this true?? A lead SY investigator talking about the case on the BBC?? OMG, it makes no sense at all... SY talking on TV BEFORE an arrest..?? Impossible.. Consequently, I think we will never see an arrest in this case..
There is one explication though.. Sometimes (in US) we see Police Forces talking publicly in order to send a subtile message to the perpetors, accomplices, possible witnesses, etc.. So maybe.. maybe it's the objective..
I am really sad.. But I keep hoping.. I will always have hope, until the end..
