The parents of missing Madeleine McCann will today mark her tenth birthday with a low-key gathering for family and friends.
Kate and Gerry McCann will join well-wishers in praying for the return of their daughter, who went missing on holiday in Portugal when she was three.
The McCanns have decorated the front gates at their home in Rothley, Leicestershire, with green and yellow floral tributes, symbolising hope.
Unending grief: Kate McCann seen here in Praia da Luz last week
In a TV interview last week, Mrs McCann said: ‘The family will get together and celebrate, which is wonderful, but Madeleine should be here.

Hi grandpa, it's Mandy - do you still have my car? First words of kidnap victim to her grandfather after being released from Cleveland house of horrors
‘We still celebrate her and her being part of our lives. I go into Madeleine’s room and I don’t even have to talk – I can just think. It’s as it was really and I’m not ready to change it.’
The McCanns try to keep life as normal as possible for the sake of their eight-year-old twins, Sean and Amelie.
Still missing: Madeleine McCann aged three in 2007 before she disappeared while on holiday with her parents
Imagining: Last year the Metropolitan Police released an age progression picture of what Madeleine McCann would look like on her ninth birthday
‘We always include Madeleine in everything. She is in my head and my heart every minute of every day,’ Mrs McCann said.
Gifts will be laid in Madeleine’s bedroom, which has remained untouched since she vanished.
Mrs McCann, 45, said it was full of photographs, drawings, unopened Christmas stockings and birthday gifts.
Not losing hope: Kate McCann, left, after running the London Marathon this year and right, holding hands with husband Gerry McCann as they give a TV interview earlier this month nearly six years after she vanished
The former GP returned from a visit to Portugal on Wednesday during which she lit a candle in the church in the resort of Praia da Luz and prayed for Madeleine’s return.
The McCanns said their spirits were lifted last week when three young women, who had been missing for up to ten years, were found alive in a house in Cleveland, Ohio.
They said it had given them fresh hope that Madeleine is still alive. She disappeared from the family’s holiday apartment in the Algarve just over six years ago.

Re: Flowers of Hope for Madeleine
How's that low key.
Sticking flowers and lanterns on the outside off your house....the neighbours must be really pissed off with this .
As for 'untouched'....didn't Kate McCann say the twins go Into her room and play....so how do they wonder in there without touching anything...bit like the 'no DNA in apt 5a'.....have these not got any DNA to leave in bedrooms.
So the twins just wonder into the bedroom, stand there for an hour without touching anything then walk out...yeah right .

Re: Flowers of Hope for Madeleine
Tracey Kandohla - well in with Mitchell and a Rothley resident to boot - nothing like a bit of objective reporting, eh? And this is nothing like ......
It must be very handy having your own local pet journo to do a fluffy bunny piece to counter the James Murray Murat article. Has Mr Murray been given the bum's rush this week?
Anyways, the gates will be awash with 'floral tributes' by now (the web definition of this term is given as: Flowers displayed at the funeral, sent by family and friends out of respect to the deceased.
Oops!
But it is nice that it's going to be such a 'low key' event.
Wouldn't want any gawpers or pap snappers muscling in on the quiet dignity of the proceedings ...
...... oh sh*t - they've gone and put it in the Mail.
How the hell did that happen ...

The photo of holding hands with a very prominent wedding ring on Gerrys hand, noted as "earlier this month" is a bit odd. Trying to tell us something Clarence ?

Re: Flowers of Hope for Madeleine
Pictures in the run up to the date of her disappearance then a vigil in Rothley of her disappearance, then pics of K McC going to Pdl on a vigil, then photos of them on what would be Madeleines 10th birthday. overkill. jimo.

"Low key event"???? How on earth can reporters come up with such a description? There has been nothing 'low key' about the McCanns since their holiday in Portugal six years ago; every thing they have done over the years has been way over the top.

It does look like they're trying to make the wedding ring a feature there. Odd. Must be trying to dispel all those rumours about Gerry and his new burrrd!

Somebody told me a while back that there was a rumour that Gerry had a new burrd! Maybe that ring so prominently displayed is an attempt at showing togetherness that doesn't exist. Actually, I liked the Amaral comment outside the court in Lisbon, when he was asked if he had seen the McCann couple. He said he hadn't seen any couple.
Re: Flowers of Hope for Madeleine
I heard that rumour too (from a different source than Anna) and Kate was supposedly in a right state about it.

It was a Scottish connection that told me!
