Re: We have all the pieces of the jigsaw
Ok, good. The McC's must be so relieved that the review team have located all the pieces ... presumably, this includes the piece with the abductor's name and address on it. Kate's been asking for 'that one missing piece' for a very long time.

Well this says it all for me,
He met Madeleine’s parents and says: “I was enormously sympathetic to their case.”

Re: We have all the pieces of the jigsaw
Sorry - I posted these on the wrong thread!
“Clearly within that material the answer could lie,” he tells tonight’s Panorama.
Of course it does Mr R - and if you cannot see what the answer is by now then I am afraid you have been wasting your time and our money!
Not all of the pieces of the jig-saw will fit together as some do not belong to the same box - to the picture which shows the truth. The fact that you are tying to make them fit together worries me as that will simply come up with a muddle that does not fit together.
I hope SY have not spent he last year mixing £3m worth of concrete for the Mc's to pour over their back garden!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
.....and another thing! Whats been done to find the missing pieces of the jig-saw from the first time around?/ Like medical records, bank account transactions, phone activity, corroboration of Kate's encounter with death before she came on holiday etc etc. If SY have ALL the pieces of the jig-saw then surely these pieces will hve been found and passed to the PJ!!!??? Without these how can anyone complete the jig-saw???

Re: We have all the pieces of the jigsaw
The conclusion off the case was met in 2008 by the PJ.....to finally close the case it would have to be the PJ to state this NOT SY unless off course SY and PJ have decided to come to an agreement and that Madeleine was abducted and killed by an unknown person....you can't come to a conclusion when someone has been abducted .

It strikes me Mr Redwood maybe running out of cash and all the hype is merely a pitch for continued funding. We know some months ago over £2 million of a £3.5 million budget had been spent so there can't be much left in the kitty. From the comments made so far it doesn't look like SY are anywhere near a conclusion.

It does rather look like it. And they may think that all the pieces of the puzzle are there in the files, but clearly they haven't put them together yet.

Considering we had a number of witnesses defacing the picture on the box they probably don't have a clue what the pieces make yet. Unless it still said 200x200 pieces how can they possibly know they aren't missing some.

Re: We have all the pieces of the jigsaw
Searching over 40,000 pieces of paper by 28 Detectives and 5 Clerks should have not taken too long ...a lot could have been discarded without value
Why did they have to return to Spain Twice, Portugal several times for information? Surely faxes and e-mails , Diplomatic Bags could have been used.
Seems like Redwood et al have not been carefull with Taxpayers money.

Re: We have all the pieces of the jigsaw
So glad to hear SY have ALL the pieces of the jigsaw and of course that means :-
Mcs bank account details
Mcs credit card account details
Madeleine`s medical records
K & G`s medical records
Tapas 7 phone call records
Social Services records of whole TM
KM`s employee records
CEOP records (if not already deleted)
No Stone - Madeleine Fund accounts
and that everyone (and I mean everyone) has been re-interviewed under caution including Dr Amaral, the Portuguese Ambassador at the time and all the originals involved before the political corruption began.
If they haven`t obtained all these details - then the `review` is totally corrupt.

Whilst I do not disagree with what you are saying, would this fall under the format of a "review" ? I have always thought there would be a number of steps in the process, if it is to be done correctly. Review what is there, decide if there are things to be further investigated. They decide yes there is and out of those recommendations the case is re-opened. Then those documents being obtained is the next step as is the commencement of the interviews.
It hurts me to say this, but at the moment the McCanns are considered innocent in this by SY. Unless there is a formal investigation I do not know if they can just go and demand bank statements and peoples medical records. I could be wrong, maybe there is someone here who works in this field, but I honestly feel this is not a police investigation, it is just a review. The investigation is what will come out of the review.

Yes Mossman of course you`re correct but I was reacting to the statement the has come from somewhere that they have ALL the pieces of the jigsaw - of course they don`t if the above aren`t included.
I hold out some hope that the initial criteria for the `review` said it wouldn`t be the usual type of review but may have investigative elements.

I see what you are saying, but I think the investigative elements meant marginally more than reading the files but not necessarily telling us what conclusions they came to.
I am being overly cautious of all these comments being bandied about. If they had all the pieces of the jigsaw they would have Madeleine. Even Martin Brunt is demented on twitter today. He might as well have been aducted himself for the past five years for all we have heard from him. Now he is jumping on the band wagon .
He tweeted SY believe Madeleine is alive. When you look at an actual comment attributed to Redwood it seems he says she is alive OR dead. So I think there is lots of poetic licence at play. Why not tweet they have said she is dead ?
Have we any policemen here ???? I just think no matter what they found in the review, let us pretend they have all of the evidence, the case still has to be officially re-opened before they start on the next process. Might seem like a stupid thing and in many cases it might be a small paper exercise but we have the additional problem of it being in another country.
Basically for that reason I think the review as always going to be just that, a review, with recommendations.
They have to be super careful here and do things absolutely by the book, there will never be another chance to get this right. So it is frustrating and unclear but maybe just maybe things are moving in the right direction.
I did not think I would ever see the Sky banner saying the case should be re-opened but there it is today.
So we need to keep on going, hope for the best and vote for Portugal for ever in the Eurovision Song Contest if they re-open the case.

Yes, you`re being sensible as usual and yes, there seems to be a lot of journalistic licence being bandied about today. Just hoping SY recommend that the PJ re-open the case and obtain all the vital bank/creditcard/medical/phone records. But that obviously requires a judge`s permission.

No sensible, the alternative is too awful for me to think about, head in sand maybe
The Portugese wanted all of that the first time, if they go ahead and re-open, no reason why they won't do it this time. For all the bad press they got, when you read between the lines, they were trying to do things properly. They just did not get a chance.
Now I have to go and hold onto my sky dish. It is so windy here I fear it will not work tonight at 7.30.

THe interesting bit of that statement by the Met is the request for anyone who was in PDL that week to get in touch, the Mcs asked the same and the met have their records so did the Mcs not get enough callers??
Weren't all the holidaymakers at OC already interviewed? It's interesting that SY have asked this....

It certainly is. What about all the photos that were sent to CEOP that never reached the PJ? Were all those who sent pics interviewed? or were they left waiting because the photos never reached the PJ?

Because Madeleine disappeared towards the end of the week, the PJ had to work very hard to interview as many tourists as possible before they departed. Thos who weren't interviewed were supposed to be interviewed by the police in their respective home countries. However, the McCanns appealed for tourists to contact them via the Find Madeleine web site. How many did? And were those names all passed on to either Leicester police or the PJ? Do the Met have records of all tourists who contacted the McCanns?
Re: We have all the pieces of the jigsaw
To all those who I "argued" with on this thread earlier, sorry. In the light of the comments on Redwoods ITV interview, I was way off the mark and you were all right.
