BREAKING NEWS
Scotland Yard urges Portuguese authorities to reopen search for Madeleine McCann
http://news.sky.com/home/uk-news/article/16215771
Scotland Yard has announced that missing Madeleine McCann may still be alive, as an artist's impression of what she may look like now is released.
The Metropolitan Police issued a statement about its conclusion after conducting an investigative review into her disappearance.
Police said: "As a result of evidence uncovered during the review they now believe there is a possibility Madeleine is still alive and are appealing for anyone who is able to provide direct information as to her whereabouts to contact the team."
Madeleine disappeared on May 3, 2007 during a family holiday at a resort in Portugal's Praia da Luz.

A huge hunt was launched after she went missing while her parents Kate and Gerry dined with friends nearby but she has never been found.
Her frustrated parents, both doctors who live in Rothley, Leicestershire, have battled to retain the case's high-profile.
The police investigative review was commenced in May 2011 under the leadership of the then commissioner, Sir Paul Stephenson.
A murder team within the Homicide and Serious Crime Command conducted the review and the team worked in close collaboration with a senior investigating officer from Portugal's Policia Judaria.
"Throughout the course of the review officers have been in close contact with the McCann family who have been assigned a family liaison officer as is standard in accordance with national family liaison policy," Scotland Yard said.
"Officers are now methodically going through that material which they believe amounts to around 40,000 pieces of information equating to approximately 100,000 pages."

British detectives travelled to Portugal several times as part of the investigation.
"The intention is to identify from that material investigative opportunities which we will then present to the Portuguese authorities who retain primacy for the investigation," police said.
"Officers have so far identified around 195 such opportunities within the historic material, and are also developing what they believe to be genuinely new material."
Meanwhile, the police commissioned the computer-generated likeness of Madeleine as a nine-year-old, as the fifth anniversary of her disappearance approaches.
The picture was created by Teri Blythe, who is a specialist in forensic art services for both missing persons and unidentified cases.
Police added: "The second point of appeal today is in relation to those who were at the resort of Praia da Luz between 28 April and 3 May 2007.
If you were either on holiday or in residence in the resort during this period, particularly in the vicinity of the Ocean Club, and you have not been spoken to by police either here or in Portugal then please call us on 0800 096 1011 if you are within the UK."
:: The number for non-UK residents is +44 20 7158 0126. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously in Britain on 0800 555 111.

Martin Brunt just tweeted this
#McCann It's thought Scot Yard has unearthed potential evidence to support idea Madeleine is still alive
Mind you who knows what is true and what isn't. Let's just hope they re-open the case.

I hope that you don’t mind me joining in as I am more a ‘lurker’ than a participator.
When I read the Sky News Banner the first thought that came to my mind is,
‘If this report is true have SY disregarded/discredited the dogs’ findings?
Surely not!

Re: SKY/Breaking news
Now hearing this news l thought l would be happier, but due to the other stuff SY are putting out (Maddie could still be alive and releasing an age progression photo) it looks like a whitewash OR slowly, slowly catchee monkey??
The facts are still there, cadaver dogs alerted and the intial DNA findings - they both can't be wrong.

Re: SKY/Breaking news
Cambslass, could be or maybe SY have found evidence that she has been hidden away for 5yrs and the whole 'fund' has been a scam from start to finish? I know, I'm ever the optimist!Cambslass wrote:I hope that you don’t mind me joining in as I am more a ‘lurker’ than a participator.

Re: SKY/Breaking news
Well, if Madeleine is alive and is found alive, that is the best outcome anybody could wish for.
No, hang on - The best outcome would be if that went hand in hand with neglect charges.

I don't think we should give up so quick! Could be a way of getting the case reopened without giving the game away until everything is in place. I'm hopeful I know!

I think we should take all this with a pinch of salt anyway folks, it could simply be spin to take the heat off the damage done by the Leveson Inquiry.
In fact it's a pretty huge coincidence this news broke today dontcha think?

Hmmm I don't know what I have to think of this. It seems they're following just one scenario. Which leads to again nothing I'm sure. I wonder...

My daughter is Portuguese Algarvian to be precise, she has read the article is sitting next to me translating so bear with me!! In a nutshell:
Andy Redwood states that re-opening the case is the only way to find out what happened to her.
Allclues are being analysed by both the Yard and the Porto Homicide (the best) Detectives in child disapearances!
Redwood states he has had 7 visits to Potugal and TWO were on a SUPERIOR level and it appears he may have gone to the OC club as well and 4meetings with the Porto Detectives - it also states the Redwood has had REGULAR contact with Lord and Lady McCann, there is a mountain of information totally 40thousand clues all of which need to be TRANSLATED - thats why this process is taking longer. Around 25% has been analysed - AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL.
There are two hypnosis: that Maddie is alive or dead (how obvious) but there is a chance she may be alive and that a expert had released the image of how she may look today!
Thats about it - pretty much the same as in the UK Media, not sure what to make of it! whitewash - I PRAY NOT!

Re: SKY/Breaking news
I just think we have to ride the rollercoaster. They want to get the case re-opened and they are hardly going to say they think the parents were involved at this point are they? Let's keep it nice and friendly for now and get that case re-opened then do what needs doing. That is my take on it anyway.

Re: SKY/Breaking news
I think we can ignore all the floss and bunting if the end result is the Case being formally re-opened by our friends in Portugal.
Surely it's what we have all wanted for so long?
(Apart from Healy & McCann, naturally)

Re: SKY/Breaking news
Portugal won't reopen the case if there are no new evidences. 135 false leads are may be impressive for the British public but not for the PJ. SY is playing with the public opinion IMO. All the blames for Portugal and closure for SY who will say that they can't go further anymore if the PJ don't follow their advice .
