Gerry McCanns blogs site is running very slow. It is taking up to 30 seconds to view some of the pages.
This is due to the clock counter that I have embedded on every page telling us how many days Madeleine was missing.
To solve this problem what I now must do is go through all of the 3,500 pages and remove the clock counters.

As you can imagine it will take a few weeks.

This will also affect the doubled up site

Just out of curiosity and paranoia how much data are we talking about and is it feasible to back up to hard copy i.e dvd rom or a seperate hard drive not normally connected to the net. Not that anything untoward might happen but you just never know what dark forces are lurking in the background, and as we have seen too many times strange things have happened.

Totally agree with this - hope it can be backed up on a separate hard drive .... and kept somewhere very safe.

Don’t worry. I have it backed up off line on a separate hard drive also on an 8 gig pen drive.

Sight exaggeration, It is only 3,200 pages not 3,500.

Not just the Blogs to back up

But 61 Months of News items, plus numerous other things.

The photograph section takes up a lot of the space.

Now must get Back to my editing

Oh dear you do realise that by backing everything up, anything that may have been said in the past and removed for whatever reason is still going to be there to be used in the future like maybe in a court room, TB, GA off the top of my head. I can think of a few people who wont like what you are doing but Hey Ho that the way the pendulum swings, if your going to say something in public then make sure it is the truth or unverifiable. Just make sure that your data is safe from nocturnal visitors.

You are so right bill. There has been an ongoing and futile attempt by the infamous pair to re-write history. SY's Andy Redwood and his (cough) team of investigators, being the final push to this end. Well it will never happen thanks to the efforts of a brave group of people who refuse to be intimidated by these charlatans, and also the websites that remain steadfast to this day. We will insure the past remains firmly in the present, and not allow it to be conveniently altered and embellished by this grotesque pair and their exorbitantly priced entourage. No amount of newspaper articles, PR teams, or bewks will change the recorded facts into a sanitised fiction.
