That photo of Kate and Gerry makes me feel sick. Kate looks like she's had enough and Gerry's got that "oh look, a camera," look on his smug mug!

And has this childless couple kept Madeleine totally apart from other children? Have they kept her away from school? She would have been old enough to remember that she once lived somewhere else and with other people. Is there any part of the civilised world that Madeleine's story has not reached? Wouldn't an intelligent child of nearly 9, living with an intelligent couple (how the author comes to that conclusion is not clear) wonder where she had come from? If, as Gerry mcCann said, the girl in the new image could walk in as though she had never been away, surely images of Kate and Gerry in papers and on TV all over the world would look familiar to her?

It seems that Andy Redwood has only been asked about the idea that Madeleine may be alive, and he has answered accordingly. No one seems to be asking him about the "equally strong," theory that she may be dead.

What a ridiculous piece of conjecture this article is. The first thing that strikes me is the unlikelihood of a childless couple choosing a girl of nearly 4 to kidnap and become part of their family. Why target a child old enough to talk, ask questions etc? If this is an illustration of the minds of the review team, they must have dredged the bottom of the barrel when selecting them.

It would have made more sense, if they had wanted a girl, to have taken Amelie, who would be less likely to remember where she had come from.

Exactly, this theory makes no sense at all. If this is an example of the fresh ideas SY are bringing to the investigation, it's hardly surprising that the Portuguese won't reopen the case

You are quite right, Loopdaloop.

Nothing at all that casts any light on the detail of what is going on was said. Nothing.

That's why Panorama and related pieces have caused such a wide range of reaction - Because people believe what they want to believe by extrapolating relatively neutral words and assigning to them meanings they probably don't have.

Some people took it badly, some (like thee and me) see it as being an adequate job of saying something whilst saying nothing (as it should be) and giving nothing of substance away - and yet amongst neutrals there seems to be a slight awakening and a dawning that all that has gone before (in terms of Healy & McCann's version of the truth) is not unquestionable.
