I assumed that Kate's comment about the Scenic being the only car with posters plastered all over it was to insinuate that the dogs were influenced by M Grimes, not that the dogs could read.... but perhaps not *rolls eyes*.
oops I never thought of that, sorry Kate
The cadaver scent will transfer and it seems to happen very quickly. But the fish would need to be 9 to 11 days old before starting to develop the odour - a possiblity I suppose, but god he would be fairly stinky to have in your fridge.
The boot had bodily fluid that was tested and human so the fish was not in there.
Ah, ok, that resolves that one then.

Acutally, if you look at the video, the posters were on the back and not visible from the direction that Grime came from as the car was parked with the boot against the wall.
Whether Martin Grimes saw the posters or not, the PJ had no reason to want the dogs to alert to the McCanns' car. Having been hired 3 weeks after Madeleine's disappearance, it would have made absolutely no sense. RM's car, however, which was also in the line up - now that would have been a handy one to receive some lively barking.

I didn't know that - Murat was clean all the way through though - he may have arranged various things, but got nowhere near the scene of any crime. Smart man. It was the Ambassador who told the PJ he should be investigated, backing it up with a British profiler. The PJ did it very much against their will and only pulled him in when JT identified him. Can't remember if he asked for arguido status himself.

I'm fairly sure he did.

Re: Can we talk about Seabass again?
I think that if there was any possibility of Martin Grime directing his dogs, it could be picked up very easily. His dogs are highly trained, some of the best in their field, but there are plenty of canine experts about (people, I mean, not other dogs ), who'd be able to spot if the dogs' skills were being compromised. It's probably easier to dismiss the dogs' findings than the human professionals, if that's what you're looking to do, but I haven't seen confirmation anywhere that the dogs' evidence can be dismissed. Unfortunately, to stand up in a court (and perhaps not even then, in Portugal, where they don't use cadaver dog evidence in court) it needs to be backed up with forensic proof.
