The Fridge

I suppose after all this time we will never know the truth!

I think it quite possible a sports bag could have been picked up from the flower bed where the cadaver scent was indicated, carried and placed somewhere for a couple of weeks. I also think it quite possible the carrier of the bag was not part of the Tapas group.

I also read once about huge containers on the beach that used to contain salt for fish. And it was hinted that they could have been used by somebody.

I can just about accept a pact of silence (i.e. the friends saying nothing to incriminate the parents, nor themselves) but for a person/friend to actually physically get involved in transporting a dead body, putting it in a fridge, hiding it in an empty apartment, etc... I just can't believe any normal person would do such a thing as a favour to someone else.

Wintabells I also agree. What is also important to remember, imo, other than the Paynes, none of the Tapas group were true "friends" of the McCanns, only mere acquaintenances. That is what is so very strange about their silence.

I take your point, yes, but some might argue that as medical professionals, they were professionally bonded and as such perhaps capable of closing ranks and turning a blind eye.

Abandonment/neglect - yes. Medicating children to sleep - yes. Covering up an accident resulting in death and concealing a body - no. Surely ?? Them, not me, by the way.

Even if you are with one set of really good friends, you would still feel uncomfortable sharing the companionship of those friends with other people you don't really know at all well. What if you get there and decide you really dislike some of these people? It would spoil the holiday and holidays are special times. No, I just think this is part of the cover up, that they are better aquainted with all of the people than we realise.

i too think that the friendship between the various couples was quite strong. They have gone to great lengths to say that "we really didn't know such and such, they were friends of whoever". They all knew each other despite what they say.

Very interesting point of view. It was one of the few things I took at face value, that quite simply the Paynes were their friends, the others not so friendly, i.e. they would bump into each other at mutual friends parties etc.

It makes perfect sense if this too is a lie.

Matthew oldfield didn't even know Madeleine that well yet the mccanns let him go Into their apt....I don't think so, do you.

and, adding to this point, who would make the offer to go and check on a sleeping 4 year old if you weren't confident that if the child was awake, your sudden appearance wasn't going to scare the living daylights out if it... ruining the rest of the evening for... well, everyone really?

This all bearing in mind that until that fateful day no one apparently checked on anyone else's children or even thought of it. Just another of those strange "coincidences" in McCann "abduction"? Not IMO.

Lol, did you enjoy it? I hope so.

However, joking aside, and whilst I accept that people do go on holiday with mere acquaintances, I just think its uncommon on the whole, that its a minority that do this, for the reasons I have stated above and, especially in this case, that there is a feeling that too much trust was put on people who were mere acquaintances and it just sounds highly unlikely to me. How can the McCanns scream abduction by a stranger when they were amongst strangers on holiday? In their shoes, if this is what really happened, wouldn't you think they would be suspicious of the very people they were on holiday with if they were just mere acquaintances and don't you think these mere acquaintances would be suspicious of the McCanns in turn? I do! For that not to be the case, it raises the suspicion in me that they all knew each other better than they make out.

On the other hand, there are people who have no real friends and do rely on colleagues to beef up their social lives. It's an ego thing and knowing what I have learned from the McCanns, they fit right into this category. They don't seem to be very nice to be around so a bunch of medics might just get them into the right circle. After all, they did have to be seen to going somewhere for their holiday breaks.

I can't imagine GMcC being happy unless he's got lots of people to show off to, so I guess a group hol where he wouldn't have to spend too much time with children would suit him down to the ground.
