So who donated the £1m advertising?
Stripping away the absurdity of appointing Kate McCann ambassador to Missing Peoples charity, the issue remains that £1m of advertising was donated to the charity for the campaign she is to front.
So the questions are:
Was the advertising donated in return for Kate McCann fronting the campaign?
If so, who still backs them that is rich and powerful enough to dictate that?
News International?
And what if NI are only doing to save face because of their high profile support of the McCanns in the past? Now their name is dirt from the hacking scandal maybe they feel they have to go on supporting them because if the McCanns are charged with anything it will further ridicule News International.
NI, Kate McCann and Missing People are probably all victims in this.

From Wednesday 11th July, Kate McCann – in her first official role as Ambassador of the charity Missing People – will launch the biggest digital billboard campaign in British history. Organised by the Outdoor Media Centre and produced by Grand Visual, this unprecedented campaign will see a network of billboards publicise people missing across the UK.
The value of the advertising space donated by the outdoor advertising industry is estimated at over £1million, and the campaign is estimated to reach over 10 million adults during the summer months when – thanks to the Olympics – Britain will be at its busiest. New ‘OpenLoop’ technology created by Grand Visual will allow staff and volunteers at the charity Missing People to update the appeals instantly to billboards, with details of the latest high risk individuals.

Re: So who donated the £1m advertising?
There are several possibilities re who might have donated the £1m.
It could have been newspapers to get some new material.
It could be the people who run this new digital advertising boards system. A live trial run. It could be used for news/propaganda updates on any subject in the future.

Re: So who donated the £1m advertising?
It was probably someone like Richard Branson. He is a big supporter of the child neglector/CATS kate mccann, and is also a Patron of this MissingPeople charity

It could be Lord Sugar`s organisation Amscreen which has donated 1 million value of advertising space.

Re: So who donated the £1m advertising?
The people who put these boards out there would be paying for this, it's great visibility for them. Look how great our outdoor boards work.
What I want to know is what does it mean that Kate's going to launch this promotion? Will she crack a bottle of champagne over the first board as it's lit up? Or will her big mug be on these boards talking to all of England?
I wonder if that big, huge reward still exists for the info leading to the return of MM. You never seem to hear of it. Of anything they could possibly do to get her back if she had actually been kidnapped, publicizing the reward would do the most. If MM is still alive it's not real ikley she's chained up in a basement. SOMEONE somewhere would see her, or would know and would want that money.
Instead they talk about how much they want everyone to search which is weird. Or for the investigation to reopen (only presumably with them not as chief suspects but yet not having to answer questions or reconstruct the night of the abduction). But never "we still believe MM is alive and there is a big fat pot of money waiting for the person who gives us information that leads to her return."
picking away at a criminal child stealer's conscience through repeated exposure to McCanns begging, is NONSENSE. They don't have one or they wouldn't have taken someone else's child. But a cohort who knew about it might want that money. Surely McCanns would understand THAT.

Re: So who donated the £1m advertising?
The people with the boards have not donated £1m, as is being reported in other places; they are donating their use of the boards, which would normally cost a commercial advertiser £1m to rent. It's not costing the donor anything at all (unless you count lost revenue, which is dubious at best) and in fact they are getting massive amounts of free advertising themselves for the use of their boards. So it's not as philanthropic as we might think. Also, is it anything to do with the people who had the inflatable billboard that toured Europe?
Sorry , but my Scam Alarm is blaring here. Who remembers "sponsored by Infohost"? Where "sponsored" actually meant "charged £37000".

Oh widowan, when you describe a scene like that I`ve highlighted in red, it makes me shudder. It`s 1984 all over again!
And yes, the most likely chance of Maddie`s return would be via reward money, but this late in the day they could be seen to be accessories to a crime.

Re: So who donated the £1m advertising?
Richard Branson was one of the Sponsors for Kate to become Ambassador and he is not a stupid man. Why do you think he is still convinced the McCanns are completely innocent , that Madeleine is "findable"(what a coarse expression to use Kate) and keep supporting them. I think the £2 million
reward offered by the NOTW was probably made void and donations refunded when the Paper folded.
