Good to see that those old chestnuts Alan and Cindy Thompson have been wheeled out once again.

Re: Daily Mirror
It's quite clearly a slow news day. Nadine has been kicked out of the jungle, the Israelis and Pals have stopped bombing each other and the BBC have paid out to Lord McA. There's nothing else left to write about, and they have to fill all that copy space somehow.....
Move along now please people. Nothing to see here.

Re: Daily Mirror
As usual shoddy journalism from the Mirror piling totally unrelated matters together to create a fiction. The photofit of "the suspect" of course has the right lanky dishevelled appearance but was described as 38-45 years old. Hewlett was 62 in 2007 but never mind the undiscerning reader will put two and two together and get the required five. Add to that the "numerous" sightings in North Africa. Of course they omit to mention none of these proved to be the missing child. Etc, etc.
ETA If there is any truth that SY are looking at Hewlett again after nearly a year and a half it rather suggests they have come up with sweet FA in their review.

Re: Daily Mirror
The way the article finished says it all. 'Last night Scotland Yard said: “We are not prepared to discuss any particular lines of enquiry.”' It does seem to be a plant: it is all stale news.
Brief comments on Sky TV overnight on newspaper front pages said that the Mirror were focussing on the latest 'new leads' in the Maddy Mccann case. Huh? Neither 'new' nor a 'lead', I'm sure. Presenters did not refer to the page any further. Rightly, all the attention was given to the foster parents who happened to be members of UKIP and therefore had their three foster children so unfairly taken away!
There did not seem too be anywhere for comments on the Mirror article. I did look carefully.
Anyone feel that, in the circumstances, it was very odd to end up with that unsettling picture of Madeleine with lipstick and blue eye shadow on...'dressing up'?

Re: Daily Mirror
"And in a deathbed letter to estranged son Wayne, he claimed to know what had happened to the youngster."
But the Mirror conveniently forgets to tell its readers what happened to that letter - an important piece of primary evidence.
So they can only guess.
What does Wayne do?
Does he put it in a safe for security reasons? No.
Does he phone Crimestoppers? Nope, sorry.
Does he check out the letter's validity? Wrong.
Does he, most importantly, hotfoot it to the cop shop and hand it over? Don't make me laugh.
None of the above.
He burnt it.
Yep, he burnt tnis note containing details of Maddie's whereabouts because it 'unnerved' him so much.
Aww diddums.
Forget the missing kid then - we wouldn't want poor Wayne's hands to be shaking as he counts his money, now would we?

Re: Daily Mirror
Oh come on> SY have said money will run out by Christmas. The PM darent put any more public funds to this investigation, can you imagine the outcry. this is the end. the man is a paedophile, so he cant be slated any more, the SY dont want this "open" case hanging over them unsolved. Its a blast on the PJ. So the case will be "solved" as far as the UK are concerned. This is utter b******* as the UK has no providence in this case, Hewlett has been questioned and cleared. this just so smacks of who can be blamed. Anyone except the parents who left 3 children alone in a holiday flat in a foreign country whilst they went on the razz. This is Justice UK style? jimo

Re: Daily Mirror
Comperedna, I personally feel that the image of Madeleine in blue eye-shadow and looking spaced out would be inappropriate in any circumstances. However, it was one that the media wanted us to believe was a normal snapshot of a child who'd raided the make-up box.

Re: Daily Mirror
The renewed investigation into Madeleine McCann’s disappearance "uncovered 95 potential new leads in its first year."
2 May 2012 ... The £2million police review of the Madeleine McCann case will ... It has identified
195 potential new leads,
So question 1 is:
24th November 2012. (daily mirror)
Is Andy Pandy and his merry men going to set up a new team of defectives to try to find the 100 (one HUNDRED) "new leads" that appear to have been ABDUCTED!?
Question 2 is:
WHY was the case of missing child Katrice Lee featured on Crimewatch THIS week in particular?
Kate McCann turns up on our screens and a real missing child case on tv the night before.
The McScams really do think that everybody, except them, are total idiots!

Re: Daily Mirror
The most fascinating aspect of this story is - why is it right here, right now?
It could be seen to be shamelessly exploiting all the current paedophile scandals, on the assumption that this little fairy tale is more likely to be believed if there is 'a lot of it about'.
Then we have the distraction element - why is this being monotonously regurgitated as opposed to documenting other things that might be really happening in McCann World?
<<<<<< No, no sheeple, don't look over there!

I totally agree with you Panda ' Christmas is coming and the goose is getting thin' SY would not be giving information like this
What really infuriates me is that every time Hewitt is mentioned the say he was next to PDL. Fuzeta where he was camped is at least 70 miles away from PDL not 30 as reported, I know this for a fact . Either way neither makes it next door !!

Even the current paedophile scandals confirm all known statistics - paedophiles rarely, if ever, abduct their victims.

Re: Daily Mirror
I think CM engineered this to get cheap publicity for Kate and her 3rd Book. Another suspect the PJ did not check out properly, then the Book will dwell on the Amaral Book because the case will be over by then ......unless someone else falls ill at the last minute.!!!!!! There is an underlying reason for this latest publicity for the McCanns, was Kate invited by Cameron to attend the meeting at No.10 with the hacked off Group? If so he again has proved how ill conceived this move was. Brooks is to be charged with 3 offences , it was she who forced Cameron to arrange a review by publishing that begging letter in The Sun. Cameron agreed and the Government has spent £3 million wastefully , the case is not being re-opened which means there was no new evidence which means the McCanns are scuppered, as is Cameron. He is now being asked to submit the other e-mails . Mitchell, for all his bluster is very wily ...will we ever get to know the real reason for airing this "suspect".

I clicked on Anna's post on Daily News, without reading the subject
If anyone is seriously terrified of S****** dont click on it whatever you do
By printing all this old stuff the papers are just making themselves look even more incompetent
and foolish than they already have to people throughout the world who have followed the case and read the files and it also smacks of desperation by team Mccann.

This suspect has a great advantage: Maddie was sold on to gipsies, therefore she is still alive, therefore the Fund can continue unabated.

How very unfair, the poor pair just had to eat, they couldn't starve or make do with a take away, no they had to go out and eat dinner and drink copious amounts of wine, as you do whilst on holiday, and the freedom from having to dine at the bottom of their garden just for a change as it was their holiday as well you know. But now as a result of an abductor who took their first born and has paedophile tendencies, they are having to work tirelessly looking for their missing daughter in all the countries that they have had to visit, when really a little parental love and care would have prevented what ever happened to Madeleine from happening, all imo of course.

MADELEINE MCCANN: NEW DRIFTER CLUE
Madeleine's parents Gerry and Kate McCann
Madeleine's parents Gerry and Kate McCann
Sunday November 25,2012
By James Murray
DETECTIVES conducting a review of the Madeleine McCann case are expected to interview a couple who raised suspicions about drifter Raymond Hewlett.
Officers are said to be investigating the whereabouts of Hewlett in Portugal in May 2007.
Ex-soldier Hewlett bears a striking resemblance to a man seen acting suspiciously around the holiday apartment in Praia da Luz before the kidnap and was thought to be staying 30 miles away. He later told holidaymakers Alan and Cindy Thompson, from Nottingham, that gypsies had approached him, wanting to buy one of his six children.
One theory was that Hewlett, 64, who had convictions for sex offences against young girls, snatched Madeleine to sell her to gypsies who were apparently trafficking children to Morocco.
Hewlett, who died last year, refused to be interviewed by the McCanns’ private investigator.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “We are not prepared to discuss any particular lines of inquiry.”

Dutyfully green arrowed. Another interesting comment here:
Every year without fail, as Christmas and/or the anniversary of her disappearance in May approach, apparent "new" leads and sensational new developments are being reported in the papers. Nothing ever has come out of these new investigations and without wanting to sound cynical, it will be the same again this time. If memory serves me right, this awful person was investigated thoroughly while he was still alive and given his track record he was an obvious suspect. I'm sure the police did everything in their power (especially since they are under a lot of pressure to finally solve this case) to find evidence against him. Surely they couldn't have been that stupid to let him go if there was any evidence of his involvement in whatever happened to Madeleine McCann.

There was also one saying: 'Fund running a tad low?'
Another one saying 'every time I see her sad innocent face' - yes indeed, that photograph was a masterstroke. Didn't look a bit like her was 18 months out of date, but what the hell.... it was a good marketing ploy.
