Re: Blacksmith - Rumours, what rumours? 16th Jan 2013
From the google translation of the articles its says " The order of the court to defer the suspension was signed at the end of last week, for what now follows a period of six months, after which, in the absence of agreement between Gonçalo Amaral and the parents of missing child in 2007, in the Algarve, the hearing will be scheduled"
So according to this translation the suspension was signed at the end of last week with nothing happening for 6 months (?), then Monday morning just after they knew the GA court case is suspended they then filed the No Stone Unturned annual accounts....mmm interesting. I knew there was a reason for them delaying filing the accounts...especially as they were all signed on December 21st 2012

Re: Blacksmith - Rumours, what rumours? 16th Jan 2013
The question is not even if they could win or not. The question is that there was never a chance in hell they could get what they demanded! Not even close. In fact, what they could possibly get if they won would almost certainly be less than the total they have already and would spend with the case unless they have a legal team working for very little and doing charity work, which I doubt. For us here in Portugal it was not the case which was ridiculous (although many of us thought so), it was the amount of money they asked for. We have people who have lost children due to medical malpractice who get nothing close to that. This is not surprising at all, as far as I'm concerned although it must be for those who stated with all certainty that 'the couple' would not only go ahead but also win in all glory. Personally, since I'm a girl who likes to laugh, I would rather the case went ahead, see them 'win' and then get a ridiculously small amount of money.

Would the #McCann s settle voluntarily if there was the tiniest chance they could win? #never #longliveGoncaloAmaral http://www.tvi24.iol.pt/503/sociedade/julgamento-maddie-goncalo-amaral-mccann--algarve-desaparecimento/1411299-4071.html …
Similarly those celebrating an Amaral climb down seem to be forgetting he had three court decisions in his favour in the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Personally I will wait to find out who climbed down.

But how can they be celebrating if the 'pros' defended there was never a chance in hell the McCanns wouldn't go ahead with this?

Is the Mad Madeiran (and designated McCann witness) still hiding in Brazil?
Bit of a coincidence that, given the current happenings.

Why would Dr Amaral agree to settle out of court, he has nothing to lose now he has lost his family, wife, job and home.....after all this why would he back down, because IMO this is wot he is doing.
I can just see our papers/media reporting on this.....
The Portuguese cop backs down and settles out of court with Gerry and Kate!!!

May be it's the reason for this post of "Brit abroad" on the TMCF tonight:
"I am posting the following wherever I can on the web to get the news out there before the spin really gets going. Perhaps others here will do the same? Thanks.
"The trial that pits the McCanns Gonçalo Amaral, in which Madeleine's parents claim compensation of € 1.2 million for alleged defamation by the former PJ inspector, is suspended in an attempt to settlement."
http://www.tvi24.iol.pt/503/sociedade/j ... -4071.html
I'll try to send it to some French newspapers

Re: Blacksmith - Rumours, what rumours? 16th Jan 2013
It's the Mccanns who are backing down and running scared , they already owe him money from the previous ruling.
They thought he would break or back down and he didn't.
And the Mccanns.....they don't want to part with any more money, it doesn't take 6 months to come to an agreement, if both parties have come to such an agreement then that's that and if Madeleine was abducted and the Mccanns are telling the truth then they wouldn't back Down, after all, as they have said, this is for Madeleine and for the twins and mr amaral is a nasty liar.
For mr amaral its About his reputation and honour and the Mccanns...it about the money it always has.

Last from Blacksmith :
"The Blacksmith Bureau
Saturday, 19 January 2013Libel diary January 18
So there we are: readers will no doubt have seen the Portuguese announcement that the trial is suspended (for a maximum of six months) for the negotiations to take place.
The Bureau sits here placidly waiting for the first comments from Kate & Gerry McCann or people speaking on their behalf. Listen to them carefully and you'll be able to judge for yourselves who is asking whom for a settlement. Of course if they don't say anything over the next week or so – we'll just have to nag them again.
Come on Clarence – you're up to the task, aren't you?

With it being a civil matter, I don't think the goverment would get involved, would they? Mind you with the Mccanns all the rules seem to go to the wind.

Does anyone really believe that the government ordered the judge to suspend the trial? It is confirmed that the McCanns asked for the suspension and want to negotiate.

Carolina, may I ask is it really confirmed that the McCanns asked for this suspension? I've been looking for a reliable report about that but haven't found one.

Trust me, Blacksmith is right about the McCanns asking for the suspension of the trial.

No, it may not be a palace but its my home
I don't agree with Mr Blacksmith because I think he is a Games player without a Heart. But he has offered his Help and Webspace and I am taking it.
I have been hearing rumours that Goncarlo Amaral has threatened Kate & Gerry for so long and so Nastily that they have become frightened into stopping suing him for Slander. I cannot tell you how Sad this makes me feel but I have been crying for little Madeleine since yesterday.
I have given money to the Find Fund since 2007 but now I am really Worried. My brother doesn't have my sort of heart and moved away from Norbury years ago and he has sent me a terrible email saying there is no Point in giving money to the Fund anymore because if they agree with that man then that means they agree she is DEAD. I said that was rubbish but now I've thought it over Im worried sick. There can't be any point in sending money for DEAD Maddie can there?
I was so worried I rang him in the middle of the night and said I thought he's wrong. But he said look they've already stopped searching it says so on the Fund Find page in December havent you seen it? Cant you, says he see the connections?
When I've contacted the Fund site before they have been very helpful and sent me a wristband for free which I wear in bed every night but now three times I've tried and they won't reply. And the facebook page is telling me nothing either.
Please please can i ask people to Twit and contact these sites and beg that THEY TELL US IT ISN'T TRUE and that horrible man has made this all up.
Will you do that for me and Norbury please? Just keep tweeting and asking. Until they do I'm suspending my Direct Debit with a Heavy Heart.
This is all so sad.

I didn't notice at first that this is from Blacksmith and thought it was a nice but dim McCann supporter. It's so hard sometimes to tell the difference between a hoax and the genuine article!
