Marshland search for missing teenager

The focus of a search for a missing Co Kildare teenager has switched to marshland near Curracloe Beach in Co Wexford.

Garda and civil defence teams looking for Conal Owens from Naas are now searching dense undergrowth and swampy areas.

The areas are next to the beach where the 18-year-old was last seen on New Year's Eve.

Up to 1,000 people have been taking part in the search.

Yesterday, the search was widened away from the beach and moved inland.

Local gardaí described some of the terrain in the area as difficult.

When last seen Conal was wearing blue jeans and a distinctive red hooded sweatshirt with the words 'C - UNIT' printed in white across the chest.

He is described as 1.7m (5'7"), with brown hair cut short and of stocky build.
