SY IN OPORTO
The brigade of Scotland Yard who is responsible for the investigation into the disappearance of British Madeleine McCann is on the premises of the Judicial Police of the Port to "take stock of the situation 'case - knew the SOL.
The British police today arrived to Porto and are currently meeting with fellow Judiciary Police (PJ). Reopening and review of the investigation into the case 'Maddie' - missing for nearly six years - was started ten months ago, having the direction of the National Judicial tasked a special team led by Helena Monteiro, coordinator of criminal investigation over PJ. British authorities expect any new data to be collected by the special team of PJ Port allow the process to be formally reopened by the Ministry Public. After an initial investigation led by Gonçalo Amaral, the case now, still in PJ of Portimão, to Paulo Rebelo, the current director of the PJ Lisbon, but without any practical results. Madeleine McCann disappeared on the night of 9 May 2007 from an apartment in a tourist resort of Praia da Luz, in the Algarve, never having been found so far. At the time, Maddie McCann was complete nine days of age of four.

Re: SY IN OPORTO
thoughts on the significance of this?
It would be nice if blacksmith, now they've got their head together could elaborate on this.
Thought I would prefer to hear from Dr Martin Roberts or Pat Brown! Can anyone tweet them for comment!! :)

"..to allow the process to be formally reopened..." please God. This could be why the court case has been "delayed". Things not going well for the McCanns, what with scammers scamming scammers.

Even if, like most sentient beings, plod is "not looking for anyone else", the issue will still be one of Evidence and Proof, and I'm not sure that could be overcome without a retraction or confession.

i was thinking that too interested -- maybe sy and portugal have stopped this and both the mcanns and ga are not allowed to comment why -- it has been strange that the mcanns have dropped all this after wanting this for so long -- i posted on another thread saying if a judge could have stopped this -- or is it wishful thinking on my part -- but somethings wrong thats for sure -- if the mcanns had won anything they would have had a full page in the sun imo they would have been gloating if ga had thrown the towel in

I think it's fabulous news, this weekends 'brazil' photo could have been the last desperate throw of the dice.

Re: SY IN OPORTO
You would think that a Portuguese newspaper would know that Gonçalo Amaral did not lead the investigation and that they would know that any PJ investigation is under the authority of the Ministério Público. Anyway Gonçalo was not an investigator but a coordinator. Journalism has really gone down the tubes all over the world.

Re: SY IN OPORTO
I'm not getting too optimistic as yet - the article does mention that both sides are 'taking stock of the situation' - and that could mean just about anything.
However, I'm glad that they are still meeting up to talk - that has to be positive.

Scotland Yard in Porto for Maddie

The Scotland Yard team that is responsible for the British investigation to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is at the Judiciary Police headquarters in Porto to «evaluate the current status» of the case - the SOL learned.
The British officers arrived today to Porto and are currently in a meeting with their counterparts from the Judiciary Police.
The reopening and re-analysis of the "Maddie" case - missing for nearly six years - was initiated 10 months ago, by the National Direction of the Judiciary Police who nominated a special team led by Helena Monteiro, a superior chief coordinator of criminal investigation.
The British authorities expect that eventual new data to be collected by the special PJ team, allow for the process to be formally reopened by the General Attorney's Office.
After an initial investigation led by Gonçalo Amaral, the case went, still at the PJ of Portimão, to Paulo Rebelo, the current director of the Judiciary Police in Lisbon, but without any practical solution.
Madeleine McCann disappeared on the night of May 9(sic) 2007 from an apartment in a tourist resort in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve, she has not been found so far. At the time, Maddie McCann was nine days away of her fourth birthday.

didnt the pj say that to reopen the case there has to be something to work on-- with all these false sightings i think it has to be something of great importance -- imo -- if the news is true -- wonder if a tapas will spill all

Re: SY IN OPORTO
If true that the case is to be re-opened, it must be because the Portugese Police are satisfied that sufficient new evidence has been found. Should it be the case that evidence was overlooked during the original investigation, the McCanns will be vindicated , I would be inclined to not get too excited until we know the details.
Strange goings on at the moment , yet another sighting, the long awaited McCann/Amaral trial delayed, it's like being on a rollercoaster isn't it.

Anyone involved in this case should take the opportunity to come clean as that may help them in the long run. They could visit their local police station very soon or wait for the dawn visit and the subsequent neighbourhood chatter.

Re: SY IN OPORTO
some Mccann supporters seem very rattled on twitter at the thought of the case being
reopened! Strange that, you would think anyone who wanted to find out what happened and
justice for Madeleine would be delighted at the prospect!

they might have already done so -- but that would be wishful thinking -- tbh its about finding out what happened on may 3rd 2007 and they will have to tell the truth this time i thinkBobsy wrote:Anyone involved in this case should take the opportunity to come clean as that may help them in the long run. Hi Panda, good to see you back. Why would the McCanns be vindicated if overlooked evidence came to light?
