It's badly researched. Tony did not get into trouble for doubting the Mccanns but anyone reading that could believe it.

It's the last sentence that makes me think the McCanns will not be happy about

I wonder if the McCanns have now realised that it wasn't a good idea to draw attention to someone who possibly knows some very undesirable home truths about them.
I cannot think of any other reason why they would have singled TB out amongst all the other people commenting publicly on the case.
Some trolls seemed to think that TB was the focal point around whom other doubters gathered and that removing him from the public arena would disperse the lot of us.
How wrong can they be? Not for the first time, needless to say!

Agreed, NBY. TB was somewhat more visible than most, though, and had history.
