Another sighting (Cyprus)
http://www.incyprus.com.cy/en-gb/Top-Stories-News/4342/33347/cyprus-madeleine-sighting
AYIA NAPA - Police Spokesman Andreas Angelides stated on Saturday that investigations proved fruitless after a British tourist informed the authorities that he spotted what he believed to be missing girl Madeleine McCann in Ayia Napa.
Madeleine was nearly four when she vanished from her family's Portuguese holiday apartment in Praia da Luz as her parents, Gerry and Kate, ate dinner at a nearby tapas restaurant with friends
According to the police official, the tourist told police officers that he believed he saw the girl in a holiday apartment complex in the popular resort. Officers went to the area but did not locate the girl or the British family the girl was reportedly with. Angelides added that it was likely that "the British family had already departed from the island" and that Interpol had already been notified of the result of their investigation.
The disappearance of the little girl led to a worldwide search amidst fears the girl had been snatched, but despite a number of leads coming to light no trace of Madeleine has every been conclusively found.
Since the disappearance, officials have from time to time issued digitally altered images showing what she might look like over the passage of time. Madeleine's family have never given up their quest to track down their missing daughter.
Kate McCann has ploughed £1million from sales of her book about the incident and its aftermath back into the search.
The bestseller, entitled simply Madeleine, was published in 2011 on the day of her eighth birthday.

Sickening.
There is no search - nor any point in organising one. The parents realised that very early on, so why does others apparently think it worthwhile?

Re: Another sighting (Cyprus)
Here's another version (my bold):
Was Madeleine McCann in Cyprus? Police alert Interpol
02 March, 2013
Cyprus police have confirmed local media reports of a sighting of a child that looked like missing girl Madeleine McCann, informing Interpol that the child may have been part of a British family that has already fled the island.
Madeline, who should be ten years old today, disappeared in May 2007 aged four while she was on holiday with her parents and twin siblings at the resort of Praia da Luz, in Portugal. Sightings have since been reported around the world with the McCanns following some leads that the missing child may be in Russia or Ukraine.
Cyprus Police spokesman Andreas Angelides said that the owner of a holiday apartment complex in the southeastern resort town of Ayia Napa filed a complaint on February 7 that a British couple, staying with their three children, abandoned the premises after stealing home appliances.
Angelides added that on February 20 police received information “that one of the three children looked like Madeleine McCann.”
Despite investigations the couple was not found, Angelides said, adding that most likely the British family has already fled the island, a common tactic among holidaymakers who try to avoid paying their bills.
The police spokesman also noted that Interpol has been notified, adding that investigations are continuing in Cyprus. An arrest warrant has been issued against the couple.
The Politis daily reported that the complaint was filed by a British man who had seen so many photographs on the Internet, on television and the U.K. press that he was convinced the child was missing Madeleine.
The newspaper added that according to eye witnesses, the girl “looked frightened, was under constant supervision and acted strangely,” had the characteristic eye mark and that she did not look like the other children of the family.
The parents reportedly disappeared when neighbours started showing interest in the little girl.
A similar sighting in New Zealand was dropped after the schoolgirl repeatedly mistaken for missing Madeleine McCann gave police a DNA sample so Scotland Yard could confirm that she is not the youngster.

It's supposed to be published in either April or May . Who do the Mccanns know in Cyprus who would have planted this story in the Local paper? This "timely" sighting could also have something to do with McCann v Amaral upcoming Trial.

Re: Another sighting (Cyprus)
A variation on the old, old story is that the family was not made up of Johnny Foreigners, but home-grown Brits. Saints preserve us! No change otherwise in the reported odd behaviour of the family towards the child.
If this was an actual family staying in Cyprus, it must be possible to trace them back to their lair - not in the lawless hills but in the U K. Let's not hold our breath waiting for them to be found.
Next barmy story please!

One thing one can say for the McCanns: they bring some much needed excitement to the humdrum lives of the terminally bored.
NBY: they might have been British but perhaps 'creepy British?' moving on to spotty, ovoid and badly dressed ones.

Never mind that, what are the electric kettle, the heated rollers and the hairdryer going to look like? Not to mention the steam iron!
We need pictures for all of these by the 25th april at the latest! (I'm thinking of SY's next appearance in a blaze of publicity).

Re: Another sighting (Cyprus)
I've had enough of this
What are SY doing ? They need to step in a put a stop to this rubbish. What do these stories do to the twins ? There are two young children in the MCCann household living in what can only be difficult circumstances, with this type of spinning, court cases, etc
I have kids their age and no matter how good a job the parents will claim they are doing to keep this tripe from them, they will be aware of it.
Not a healthy environment for those young children. The powers that be failed Madeleine, I hope to God they don't allow the lives of her siblings to be destroyed. This needs to be stopped.

The link isn't connecting for me... Still, it would have been pointless, I gave up reading fairy tales a lot of years ago.
The McCanns however persist in demonstrating their childish, inane belief that people are prepared to believe in their ramblings...

It's bound to appear in a tabloid sooner or later - Antonella is probably sharpening her crayons as we speak in order to revamp the story in her own inimitable style.

Is there anywhere that a sighting has been missed? Perhaps the next one will be Somalia, it's as feasible as anywhere else.

I can't precisely recall the various rules and constraints regarding Passports, but Madeleine must have filled up all the available pages in hers by now, surely?

Does this latest "sighting" not mean that people are still searching? Looks like GA and TB haven't done what they were supposed to have done.

my first thought also................so predictable now....
if anything imo harms the search it is news like this..........
surly if it were true it would be kept quiet...till the people concerned were traced.....every ones passports are checked on arrival at the reception.............so this family would easily be traced.......
on the other hand...if it was maddie [eyes rolling]........how convenient to forewarn them to move on.......
why dont these so called maddie spotters take immediate action at the time of the so called sighting

xtina, the fact that this sighting did not rate the front page of the Cyprus National paper says it all. The Bandwagon is ready to topple over with so many jumping on it.xtina wrote:Panda wrote:It's supposed to be published in either April or May . It's certainly high time that the McCanns' gravy train was derailed.......

Not quite a train but this is suitable. It sounds like know-it-all Gerry talking to people doesn't it?
