Re: Cyprus?
They never miss an opportunity. Apparently from articles I have read this never happened. Someone was suspicious and Thomas Cook moved the families. Why can't people see that this is nothing " like Maddie". Madeleine was not abducted or kidnapped.

Re: Cyprus?
Yet, a total non-story.
Chuck it in the file marked 'Crap' along with all the other non-stories.
It's predictable and formulaic - and obviously one of Clarrie's Cunning Stunts (back in your box, Dr Spooner!)
Oh well, if your self-serving bike ride didn't cut the mustard ...
And your nemesis is riding high on a wave of heartfelt public support ...
And you haven't a clue what DCI Wall is up to ...
... I suppose you have to do something.
But why does that 'something' always have to be the same old unimaginative, yawn-inducing claptrap?

The Mirror article which I read said the "kidnap attempt" was reported to DURHAM Police when they returned home LAST AUGUST.

Re: Cyprus?
I agree with Almostgothic. I don't think the bike ride grabbed as much attention as they would have liked. people have got used to the McCs doing things for a reason and it coincided with Dr Goncalo Amaral's appeal. The "kidnapping" coinciding with the end of the bike is totally bile inducing. I note the Cypriot police were very quick to issue all the details and deny that children or potential kidnappers were involved. Seems a lot of people look behind these stories these days to see what it is really all about. well there s that old saying you can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cant fool all the people all of the time. and a lot of the people are awake and not fooled. imo.

Re: Cyprus?
The headline I saw this morning in the newsagents was something like " My child was abducted just like Maddie" I don't remember which rag it was but it was no surprise to see it. Here we go again and again and............

Re: Cyprus?
The Cyprus Mail has an article entitled: "Child abduction reports blown out of proportion and wrong" based on an eyewitness report.
The comments which accompany the article are worth reading especially those which reveal thoughts about UK tabloids. www.cyprus-mail.com

Re: Cyprus?
Also another example of journalists behaving badly. Why are they allowed to print such rubbish?

Watching that video with the Daily Mail article, they look a rough crowd those tourists. Just the sort that you don't want to meet on holiday. It is a wonder they did not lynch that fellow, guilty or not!

If you arrived at your hotel and they were there, you'd want to turn round and walk right out again, wouldn't you?
Can you imagine 2 weeks with that lot!! *shudder*

It would just be dreadful wjk. I would do the same walk out again. Why weren't those children at school? I saw a boy well old enough to be at school.

REMEMBER THIS
Madeleine McCann and the Cyprus toaster thieves
by Anorak | 7th, March 2013
TO Cyprus, where Madeleine McCann has been spotted. Maybe. The Financial Mirror reports:
Cyprus police have confirmed local media reports of a sighting of a child that looked like missing girl Madeleine McCann, informing Interpol that the child may have been part of a British family that has already fled the island.
Fled?
Cyprus Police spokesman Andreas Angelides said that the owner of a holiday apartment complex in the southeastern resort town of Ayia Napa filed a complaint on February 7 that a British couple, staying with their three children, abandoned the premises after stealing home appliances.
Go on:
Angelides added that on February 20 police received information “that one of the three children looked like Madeleine McCann.”
Well, if you want to get police to look for a toaster thief, tell them Maddie dunnit.
The Politis daily reported that the complaint was filed by a British man who had seen so many photographs on the Internet, on television and the U.K. press that he was convinced the child was missing Madeleine.
Politis quotes the man saying that the child “looked frightened, was under constant supervision and acted strangely”. Also, “the girl was unlike any of the other members of the family and had the unmistakable sign in her right eye”.
But he seems only to have told the police, when they did a runner without paying the bill.
Such are the facts.
