Re: Kate McCann to run the London marathon
Thanks NBY......I just had a look at the Charities list and missing children is not on it!!! Richard Branson is the organiser . it is known as the Virgin charity so that is how Kate got involved. I think it's a mini charity.

Re: Kate McCann to run the London marathon
i did the same, 95 Charities listed, what about their runners. i couldnt find Missing People so went to the M list. Not on there so must be a late listing, and maybe a prod from Richard.

Oh yes, we all have seen enough of them..almostgothic wrote:Well I guess the underlying desired effect will be to generate lots of 'Aww, Ain't That Nice' coverage for the tabloids (at the expense of other worthy participants) as 'Brave Kate' puts on a 'Brave Smile' and 'takes a break from her tireless searching' ...... jeez, I could almost write the article meself ...
Time to dust off the old stand-out-from-the-crowd luminous pink running shirt then ...

It will give her a chance to flog some of those 'long handle' shopping bags along the route.

Hmm I wouldn't be inclined to support any charity the McCanns were associated with. Still I don't suppose it matters as long as their VIP friends support them.

Re: Kate McCann to run the London marathon
I've just looked at her page and don't understand why on earth she would say that she'd say the following line...
'If I’m honest, I would happily have gone through my life without ever contemplating running a marathon, or even a half-marathon for that matter!'
I thought 'our Kate' loved running so much, she was running up the hill in Praia da Luz rather than look after her remaining kids, a couple of days after they 'lost' Madeleine?!

Re: Kate McCann to run the London marathon
It's like a lot off things she does and says......she does them because she HAS to not because she WANTS to.
Thats the price she has to pay for lying....and still lying to her children.

Re: Kate McCann to run the London marathon
It was said that because Kate was an only child she was spoilt and throw tantrums if she didn't get her way. Apparently her nickname was Hotlipshealy !
Maybe because Gerry is not running in the minimarathon it is supporting the rumour of a split , the Press is taking no chances by reporting on the McCanns personal life for fear of being sued . Had they been any other "Celebrity" couple it would have been splashed all over the Front Page. Maybe it is not true ?

Or perhaps some rich person could promise a large amount for each question she goes back and answers ! (truthfully of course).

Kate is a Pisces and seems to exhibit the most negative traits which include the `poor victim doing my best in the face of adversity` mode. Don`t have a go at me all you Pisces people because its not always so apparently negative. She also has a Moon/Neptune opposition which indicates she can deceive and be deluded. All Non-Astro people, please ignore.

The McCanns just don't no when to give up, they must no they have no public support anymore, due to their greed!

Re: Kate McCann to run the London marathon
I have met Tony several times and I think I can safely say that he would not dream of throwing a custard pie at Kate. I certainly wouldn't blame anyone who did though!
Maybe a peaceful protest with placards asking Kate why she didn't co-operate with the police investigation and why she feels the need to bankrupt people who don't believe her could be arranged?

Re: Kate McCann to run the London marathon
Perhaps while she's running Kate could listen to a recording over and over again of this man whose daughter was murdered by a stranger.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kuu_IfYOX7U
This is how people who have nothing to hide actually behave.

I think I'd be running too if my child disappeared, and specialist CSI blood and cadaver dogs' alerted in my holiday apartment, to my clothes, and in my hire car!

When she says, "If I'm honest..." I always wonder about everything else she says that is not prefixed by that proviso!

As the six-year anniversary of her daughter Madeleine's disappearance approaches, Kate McCann is channelling her energy into completing the London Marathon.
She is aiming to raise £10,000 for the Missing People charity.
MEMORY: Madeleine went missing on holiday in 2007
• • •
Writing on her JustGiving website, Kate, of Rothley, described the marathon as a challenge she "had to take".
She wrote: "This year (old, crumbly body allowing) I will be running the London Marathon in aid of missing people.
"If I'm honest, I would happily have gone through my life without ever contemplating running a marathon, or even a half-marathon for that matter!
"However, knowing what it's like to be living with a child missing and believing very strongly in what the workers at the charity do in helping other families such as mine, I realised it was a challenge that I had to take."
The charity, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, supports families of missing people and helps with searches.
Kate and her husband Gerry have completed 10km runs for the charity in Regent's Park, London, over the past few years.
Kate, 45, said the charity had been a big help to them.
She said: "I can vouch first-hand for the incredible hard work and commitment given by the staff to ease this suffering and help reunite families.
"I'm also aware though of how limited resources are and how much more the charity could, and would, offer with greater funding.
"Together, we can give the charity a bit of a boost and in doing so help the many children and adults who are missing and offer their families some invaluable support.
"It might also make all the aches and pains of training worthwhile!"
The London Marathon will be held on April 21, two weeks before the anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance on May 3, 2007.
The youngster went missing from the Ocean Club resort in the seaside village of Praia da Luz, in the Algarve, Portugal, while the family were on holiday.
So far, Kate has raised more than £2,000 towards her £10,000 target, with almost 90 donations.
Commenting on her JustGiving site, sponsor Pat Jordan wrote: "Go Kate, for every mother everywhere. We will never forget or stop looking for your baby. Wish it could be so much more."
Mary Knibbs wrote: "Good luck Kate, hope the weather is kind to all you wonderful, caring people."
Antonia Scott wrote: "You are such a strong woman, living every mother's worst nightmare.
"Keep going for Madeleine and I dearly hope one day soon you get her home."
