Labour peer Lord Ahmed has been suspended by the party as it
launched an investigation into claims he blamed a Jewish conspiracy for his jail
term.
The Muslim peer was jailed for 12 weeks for dangerous driving in 2009 after
sending and receiving text messages minutes before he was involved in a fatal
crash.
He has now allegedly blamed the sentence on pressure placed on the courts by
Jews "who own newspapers and TV channels".
The Muslim peer is said to have told an Urdu-language broadcast in Pakistan
that the judge who jailed him was appointed to the High Court after helping a
"Jewish colleague" of Tony Blair during an important case.
During the interview, Lord Ahmed apparently argued that he should have been
sentenced by a magistrate.
"My case became more critical because I went to Gaza to support Palestinians.
My Jewish friends who own newspapers and TV channels opposed this," he is
alleged to have said.
The peer allegedly suggested High Court judge Mr Justice Wilkie was sent to
pass his sentence because other judges refused.
Labour suspended him after the remarks were published in The Times and has
launched an investigation.
A party spokesman said: "The Labour Party deplores and does not tolerate any
form of anti-Semitism."
Born in Kashmir but raised in Rotherham, Lord Ahmed joined the Labour Party
at 18 and was made a life peer in 1998.
However, his political career has been dogged by a series of
controversies.
In 2007 he hit the headlines when he criticised the awarding of a knighthood
to Salman Rushdie.
And in 2008, he had to publicly deny rumours he planned to defect to the
Conservative Party, alleging the speculation was being spread by a Labour
minister who was a "sad loser".
He was also suspended by the party for three months last year for allegedly
offering a £10m bounty for the capture of US president Barack Obama - which he
denied.
After he was jailed in 2009, the peer served only 16 days of his prison
sentence before he was freed by the Court of Appeal.

Hi wjk what next will probably be an election before 2015 because Cameron and Osborne cannot hang on to their positions, the most important in Government . I dont't think I have ever known so much corruption in Government , Metropolitan Police, Judiciary, Councils, what hope has the next generation got to turn things around.wjk wrote:It's never ending, isn't it? "...he blamed a Jewish conspiracy for his jail term."
No Lord Ahmed, you got a very lenient sentence for killing someone because you were sending and receiving texts on your mobile phone. If you had not been Lord Ahmed you would have served a lot more than 12 weeks in jail. No conspiracy. You killed someone because you were looking at your phone and not the road. You deserved to be jailed and you were, but not for long enough imo.

What a sense of entitlement that pr*t has! Does he think he should have had no jail sentence after killing someone? Maybe in Pakistan wealthy people have enough influence to escape jail and maybe in the UK shouting racism works a lot of the time, but Ahmed killed someone and he got off lightly and now he's finding people to blame for getting any sentence at all. I hope the Labour Party kicks him out permanently.
Re: Labour Peer Lord Ahmed Suspended By Party
Actually he's now also guilty of Incitement to Racial Hatred. Let's see what gets added on to his sentence.

Re: Labour Peer Lord Ahmed Suspended By Party
A little story about a friend off mine....he was knocked down whilst doing his work by a man who didn't have insurance, he lied at the scene when he said he had 'fleet insurance'....the attending police officer knew he was lying because he was driving a car and 'fleet' Are for lorries etc....he was also on the phone.
This 'driver' threw my friend across the road whilst my friend had his back to the driver and he landed in the gutter with a broken leg and a broken wrist.
I took over his place for neally a year till he got better and in the meantime the driver failed to turn up to court three times and on the fourth time when he did bother to turn up he decided he wanted council and was going to contest the charge.....dangerous driving whilst on the phone and no tax or insurance...off course he only found out when he turned up that an off duty police officer was going to be a witness and was only doing it to annoy everyone .
The fifth time he didn't turn up again and he was found guilty and banned for a year BUT we then found out WHY he didn't turn up all those times....in the November, a month before my friend was knocked down he was prosecuted for an unrelated driving offence and was banned for three months for that offence in the January and it wouldn't look too good for him turning up already banned, he could off got a jail sentence .
Whilst all this was going on my friend came back and felt unwell....one month later he died, off cancer and in the meantime the driver appealed his one year driving ban.....and he won and it was reduced to 3 months.
And my friend....he's dead but does the judge give a shit....no.

Yep. And I hope he doesn't get off with it because it was an interview for a Pakistani TV company. I was so angry when he got off with 12 weeks in jail and now this.
