Kate McCann returned to the Portuguese resort where her daughter Maddie disappeared six years ago and revealed renewed hopes of finding the missing girl.
Mrs McCann, accompanied by her mother Susan Healy, lit a candle for Maddie in the little church in Praia da Luz, Algarve where she prayed for her daughter's safe return before being comforted by locals.
Mrs McCann and her husband Gerry said the discovery of three women who went missing separately 10 years ago in the US has given them fresh hopes that their daughter will be found.

A visibly shaken Kate McCann visits the little church in Praia da Luz, Algarve six years after her daughter Maddie's disappearance
Madeleine, then aged nearly four, vanished from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal’s Algarve on May 3 2007, as her parents dined with friends nearby.
Today, the McCanns said the rescue of the women in Ohio 'reaffirmed' their hope of finding their daughter.
Madeleine McCann pictured on the day she went missing from the apartment in Praia da Luz six years ago
'The discovery of these young women reaffirms our hope of finding Madeleine, which has never diminished,' they said in a statement.
'Their recovery is also further evidence that children are sometimes abducted and kept for long periods.
'So we ask the public to remain vigilant in the ongoing search for Madeleine.
'Our thoughts are with the women in America and their families.'
Last week, Kate and Gerry McCann marked the sixth anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.
Mrs McCann is currently visiting Portugal, and is expected to return home to the UK shortly.
Last week she and her husband said their family, including twins Sean and Amelie, now eight, had found a 'new normality' since Madeleine’s disappearance.
They also said they remained as hopeful as ever - if not more so - as a case review by the Metropolitan Police was under way.

Definitely Susan Hubbard, who must have come over from Canada - Ontario for the occasion.

Re: KM in Portugal.
I'm sure that Susan Hubbard will be flattered to think that she looks like someone in their 60s! Has anyone been brave enough to read past the first few sick-bucket comments to see if any adverse ones have been allowed?
I think that these photos were taken on a previous visit - would dear old pious Kate actually attend church dressed as if she's going for a stroll along the beach?

Yes, that is Susan Hubbard in the picture, but Granny Healy is there too. Can't remember where I saw it but I will try and find a link.

She should go to church today - all good RC will be there Ascension Day, very important day for RC. Also good to cover one's shoulders. I'm not RC but wouldn't dream of entering a RC church when not appropriately dressed.

IIRC She didn't cover her head when meeting the Pope, neither. Something that all devout Catholics would do without even thinking about it. I'm Jewish and even I know that!

Whenever I go to a church, I have a bag. Not essential, I know, but it's somewhere to carry the purse with some money for the collection plate. Outside the church, Kate is carrying nothing: no bag; no purse. I find that odd, especially when visiting somewhere, that she's not carrying a bag or anything else.

Kate McCann wouldn't have thought about covering her head, because along with her husband, she wasn't a regular church attender (Or so Kate's mother once said).
The McCanns have got more neck than a giraffe. They're not devout Catholics, they just used and abused the Catholic Church, as a way of flouting the law. I honestly don't know how they can sleep at night, not just because of the part they played in Madeleine's disappearance, but the way they used the Priest in PDL.

Re: KM in Portugal.
Like I said before .....she goes to church to try to relieve her guilt not necessarily to pray for Madeleine .
It seems it isn't working as she has to go all the way back to pdl to the church in a place she feels close to Madeleine .
6 years Madeleine has been 'missing' and Kate mccanns guilt hasn't and will never go away...shouldnt off listened Gerry eh Kate...he obviously doesn't feel gult.
All the money, all the proctection and all the celeb friends ...hope it was worth it.

Well said Kitti. I wonder if the McCanns will declare Madeleine dead, on the 7th anniversary of her disappearance! I know there is a reason to do this, if an adult has been missing for 7yrs, but I don't know if it happens in the case of a missing child.

Re: KM in Portugal.
They bear the guilt not just for whatever tragedy befell their daughter Madeleine, but the trail of shattered lives of innocent people and their families who have been harassed and their lives put into turmoil because of the McCanns desperation to avoid the truth being known.kathybelle wrote:kitti wrote:Like I said before .....she goes to church to try to relieve her guilt not necessarily to pray for Madeleine .

Considering the number of cases of children (young adults) being found after quite a few years which seem to have given them hope, wouldn't it be a bit weird to declare Madeleine dead after such a relatively short time?
ETA...and, of course, they have declared many times there is no evidence to prove she has come to any harm.

It's not up to the McCanns to have Madeleine declared dead. It's up to the Court, because she is still a WOC.

Re: KM in Portugal.
I have been thinking about the Amaral vs McCann libel case and wondering why the mccanns wanted to settle and I think they're playing for time.......they are waiting for SY to present the review clearing the Mccanns off any involvement in madeleines disappearance and then they will take this to portugal and present it when the court case starts.
Hope I'm wrong.
