Gazza: Former England Star Paul Gascoigne Charged With Two Counts Of Assault

Paul Gascoigne has been charged with two counts of common assault following an incident at a railway station.


British Transport Police (BTP) said Gazza had also been charged with being drunk and disorderly after answering bail on Sunday July 21.

A BTP spokesman said the charges against Paul Gascoigne, 46, related to an incident which occurred on July 4 at Stevenage rail station in Hertfordshire in which he is alleged to have lashed out at his ex wife Cheryl and a train guard.

Confirming that Paul Gascoigne has now been charged with three offences, Baljit Ubhey, the Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern CPS, said: "Following a BTP investigation, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against the 46-year-old man.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from BTP to charge the man with common assault and being drunk and disorderly.

"The charges are in relation to an incident at Stevenage rail station on the evening of Thursday July 4. The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Paul Gascoigne, who received treatment for alcoholism in an American clinic earlier this year, has been bailed to appear before magistrates in Stevenage on August 5.

His ex wife has done EVERYTHING to help him.



His biological son has NEVER known him, he said, his step children know him better than I do.


His ex wife and children went to spain to track him down to bring him home so they could look after him, when they found him, he told them To 'fuck off'.


She had him living with her and the children on the understanding he behaved himself.....it lasted a few weeks.


Personally I think he's beyond help, if he doesn't want to do it for the son he's never known or for himself.....let him get on with it.


He's a very selfish man, I know he's addicted but I get the feeling he likes drinking so whats the point, he won't give it up unless HE wants to.....and I don't see that happening.


Cheryl is too nice for him and has to face the fact that it ain't gonna happen, she's wasted enough time mothering him......she deserves better, so do her children.

I agree kitti and know recovering alcoholics , so it CAN be done, with the willpower and help available. Gazza was feted as a Football Player and can't
accept those days are over. Look how friends clubbed together to send him to America for treatment , you would have thought he would really try. I think his family and friends should give up on him,as he has proved he doesn't WANT to give up drinking.
