They don't want the twins to feel "overprotected".

I've never heard them accused of being overprotected when they left three children under four years of age to fend for themselves.

I always think that the McCanns are having a laugh at the expense of tabloid readers when they come out with remarks like this. It's not as good as Kate's immortal comment when she gate-crashed an event for the relatives of missing persons to the effect that people in that situation are left in the dark with no help available.

It must have been hard to keep a straight face but she'd had a lot of practice by then.

I would be so angry if a friend had told me what Kate told Jill and then I saw the video where Kate owned up to not searching for her daughter.

I wouldn't have her as a friend now if she had told me that at the time. and I subsequently found out later it wasn't true. if you don't lie you don't need a good memory.

I see that on Gerry's Just Giving site that a donation of £50.00 has come in from Andy Renwick; on the assumption that this is Jill's other half (whose name is Andrew) the pair of them must still be singing from the McCanns' hymn sheet.

Older but definitely no wiser.
