Re: New EC Thread
Cameron would earn more street cred' by giving that sort of money to flood hit areas and introducing flood prevention schemes to lessen the recurrence of this last few months.
But we know he won't, for him to make a stance against the bottomless pit we all know as the EU would entail him developing some gonads... A bit late in life for that.. Ain't it Dave????

He might have got a first at Eton Malena but he has no leadership qualities, jumps on every bandwagon and I still think he might be ousted before the Election. The Conservatives and Labour have little to choose between them when it comes to Leaders and we will end up with another Alliance with no Party having control.

I wouldn't be surprised Badboy, Draghi went ahead with all these loans to EU Countries and they are probably unable to repay. Add to that the recession is still ongoing ,it's going to take a long time before the the EU gets back on an even keel and I hope the EU learns to balance it's books.

Here's the article Panda.

Mayor of London believes that Greece should be left to go bankrupt and allowed write off many of its debts.
This would probably involve the country leaving the euro and a return to the drachma as a currency.
"It's become so difficult for the Greek productivity has begun to go down rather than up," said Mr Johnson.
"So the ability to repay their debt is actually diminishing rather than increasing."
Greece has been paralysed by strikes and riots in recent weeks.

It is in talks to receive another £100 billion from EU funds as it struggles to avoid defaulting on repayments on last year's rescue package.
The money is likely to be granted on the basis that Greece launches a new, deeper austerity drive.

Why not recommend that we here in the UK should leave then Boris?
Why not recommend to your mate Cameron that we should put our own house in order before dictating what others should do?
Oh, and while you are at it, call in on Cameron's hairdresser... either that or buy a violin. You're a disgrace.

I'm pleased there is some improvement but they borrowed so much from the EU and IMF it will take generations to repay.

Hello Badboy, they are offering cheap accommodation but my goodness it is a rip off when you get there.  That is why people stopped going.   I also remember that to buy a bottle of beer in the supermarket was 100 drachma (30p)  When they first changed over to the euro that beer immediately  became one euro.  In fact  every 100 drachma became one euro.  No wonder they are in trouble.  How could they possibly adopt the euro currency, it was insanity.
Last time we went to Greece, it was Corfu. We stayed in a villa. When we arrived we needed some water, there were a few shops around. It cost us 3 euro for a half flagon of water. We went out to lunch one day, just a simple taverna. I had a bit of scraggy chicken and cold chips. Frank had some cooked concoction (cold). A beer each and it cost 35 euro.
Luckily there was a Lidl near Corfu town so we went there and stocked up. Cooked on the BBQ at the villa

EU Court rules on Benefits

Obviously the EC does not want to lose it's Benefactor so they have agreed on Benefits . However, for Britain the problem is still there because the Benefits Britain pays to Asian Countries is a lot more than EU Members.
