Yes that is hard to explain away. Otherwise I could quite happily accept that Madeleine was farmed out somewhere remote - a sort of forerunner of the Shannon Matthews case - and a fake fund set up to raise money.

It would be too easy to accept that madeleine was farmed out because Kate McCann couldn't cope with her and the fund money was being sent to keep these individuals looking after her quite but the dogs put paid to that.

They brainwash some people by spinning or rather employ someone to spin crap in the newspapers for six years, get family I.e. Wright to trawl the Internet for anything nasty said about them, get SY to do their dirty work and then have the nerve to go to the same newspapers they have sued or moaned about to complain that people or rather 'trolls' non believers are saying that the new e fit looks like Gerry McCann and it's cruel and disgusting ....what are the MET going to do about it?

So now someone has come forward. We cannot know when this happened, for SY do not reveal how long ago, but it is not unusual for people to come forward at a later date and say I was there! Perhaps the fear of being thought of as an abductor, having seen what happened to Robert Murat.

The fact that Robert Murat fitted the description of JT's man walking with a child, and the fact that the tapas bunch claim to have seen Robert Murat around the complex on the night of 3rd, has perhaps meant that Murat's treatment and his life being turned upside down has put anybody else off who thought of coming forward, for fear indeed of their home, family and lifestyle being taken apart like Murat's.

Maybe he came forward after the archiving of the case. Note put in police file, file put back on the shelf. SY take the files for their investigation and follow it up ?

There must be information that has been noted in the Portugese files, filed as it comes in, since the archiving. The Portugese won't follow it up, it's not an active case.

A possibility I suppose.

Possible, yes but unlikely imo. The Portuguese I feel would not bury new information that they came by; this is an allegation some people would like to aim at them, but I do not feel they did. Whether the case was shelved or otherwise, I do strongly feel if the PJ had some important information come to light, they would investigate it. Otherwise, they would look like bungling cops, an allegation they have been trying to counter for the last 6 years.

It may be less than 6 years Kitti. It may be a little after SY began their investigations. It may be more like 4 years. SY are building a picture of what happened and will not release information to us until they are ready, but over time as new information comes along, that picture widens out.

My husband still has clothing from 4/6 years ago (certainly where jackets and trousers are concerned). Perhaps this guy had his photo taken that week so he can verify what he was wearing from it and has then produced the same garments from his wardrobe. Men do not take as many clothes away with them on holiday and just one jacket would be sufficient for most men, just something to slip on of an evening. And the light trousers are common among men on holiday too, so it would not be too hard for someone to conclude the person was himself from the description given and especially if they knew they were collecting children at that time of night. He probably had the same routine and jacket all week for all we know.

Good points LJC, I hadn't thought about holiday snaps. By the way, I also have some decent clothes from that long ago.
