Amaral being interviewed now......the British enquiry is no further on. We knew all about that lead, but then when he was taken off the case, it was no longer pursued. No mention of the fact that Smith thought it was Gerry. Probably edited out.

At least they gave Amaral some kind of voice

He said that everyone on the case thought it was one of the best leads

He said the new detective (after him) , didn't want to pursue that lead.....

yes I understand he was pursuing this when he was removed from the investigation. wasn't there something that the PJ put in a request for him to be interviewed but something to do with it being in Ireland not taking place. gosh I wish I knew where to look for this.

This is brilliant. At last someone has given Amaral a voice for the UK public and he has been able to answer to some of the misinformation. The Portuguese police did not view the Smith sighting as unimportant: they were pursuing it until Amaral was taken off the case. Not a very happy night at Rothley Towers methinks!

So glad that Dr Amaral was allowed to speak. Love the bit about what has taken SY 2 years took the PJ 6 months
