Re: Parents Upset at Portuguese TV Snub
A BBC spokesman said: “Crimewatch is made for a domestic audience and we are unable to sell it abroad for legal reasons.
"We have gone to extra lengths to ensure audiences around the world can view the McCann footage by providing clips of the programme and by making the film available on the BBC Crimewatch website.

Apparently, some Portuguese tv stations wanted to buy it, but the BBC can't sell it to them. 'Crimewatch' would be broadcast to its usual audience - the McCanns' 'status' doesn't have any bearing on where Crimewatch can be shown. Do we expect to watch programmes from Portugual on our main tv channels? If we wanted to follow something we'd go onto the internet. What is it with the people surrounding the McCanns that makes them believe they should have the taxpayer constantly throwing money at them, when there are millions and millions of children that go missing? It's heartrending what can happen, but there should be a level playing field so that all families feel they have the same resources available to them. I know it's unrealistic to expect this to happen on a global basis, but certainly in the UK we should treat every missing child the same, in as far as the finance is there and the investigators are there.

Probably miffed with the Sun and their shocking supplement. The Mcs had a similar special in Holland and Germany so I'm sure if they'd really wanted a show in Portugal there would've been one. With all their media friends and PR one could've been produced. Still they never wanted to do a recon in Portugal did they?
Recently spent two glorious weeks on the Algarve and felt so sorry for the newsagents there selling UK papers with sickening headlines. One lovely lady was quite upset by many of the front pages. There were so many families on holiday spending time with their children as well, like most families do!
