Where do things go from here
I must say I wasn't expecting all this after the Crimewatch programme. Nor was I expecting this Smith sighting to be brought out of the shadows. And then yesterday Mccanns applying to be assistant prosectors! I thought what on earth is that all about. And then today this. It will be interesting to see if this comes in the other papers. But we will probably have to wait till after the Irish version of Crimewatch appears and maybe there will be information from that. But it's anybody's guess what will happen next. Let's hope this sad case will be solved soon and those responsible brought to justice.

Re: Where do things go from here
Just the normal ups and downs of this case. I guess though that the Mcs weren't expecting someone to cacky on their biscuits (as my grandmother used to say) so soon after all the "positive progress".

Compelling question, "Where DO things Go From Here?" How will the Sunday Times' revelations affect the ongoing liebel trial?

Re: Where do things go from here
Well ,Mary ...CW defiantly started something ..floodgates ..whatever. Since then this case has consumed the news outlets. until then had been quite quiet.
Think, although we were sort of disappointed with the program ...there must have been some clever "trigger words " used as if you look at all the new people asking questions on all the sites...and Twitter ... looking up McCann Files .Where it will go now is anyone's guess ...sure we will soon get the message though... after today and the news article something or someone will have to give. All my own opinion of course.

Gypsies,blonde Germans and peado's.
In any order you like.
SY will need to keep the momentum going so a storyline giving a suitable outlet to preserve the 'alive' Maddie will need to be constructed.

Re: Where do things go from here
Does anyone have any idea why this has not made our mainstream media yet either in online tabloids or TV??
I was pleased when I saw the Sunday Times report today but as the day has gone on I am becoming more and more deflated.................

Well I wouldn't be surprised if it was explained away. How would it be their fault because the detectives followed the wrong lead six years ago. They left that decision up to the 'investigation' to decide.

I think they'll have a hard time explaining this one away.MaryB wrote:Well I wouldn't be surprised if it was explained away. How would it be their fault because the detectives followed the wrong lead six years ago. They left that decision up to the 'investigation' to decide.
How can it NOT be their fault that the Author of the report and E-fits was threatened (for years) with legal action if he were to make his findings public?
Who on earth can they blame that on?

Lioned, perhaps someone can come up with new words to this old Cher song to fit the current situation.

No need to change the title - that's the three most likely groups of suspects according to the tabloids!

Waiting to see if anyone else looks like making a move - even just a little teaser - and yet at the same tine trying not to get left behind themselves.
Cat and mouse.
I bet all the in-house lawyers are going through every dot and comma to see what they can get away with.
And what their libel bankroll will stand - because they don't all have Murdoch's billions.

Might have a bit more difficulty explaining the legal blocking on the report, though - that wouldn't be down to the detectives.

Re: Where do things go from here
Oh how I wish this is the case. However I am still pessimistic. SY have to keep going on the line they have been told to go. They cannot be allowed to do otherwise. As they found an answer to the Jane Tanner sighting, daft as it was They will find an answer to this article. If nothing happens and no other media outlet picks it up they will do the usual and pretend it never was! I do so hope I am wrong

Rented a Megane for a travelling show
Everywhere we went people's money they'd throw
Clarrie would do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple wristbands and posters too
Gipsies, Tramps and Thieves
All of the people of the town
Are nothing but gypsies, tramps and thieves
And every night blonde men would hang around
And throw Domestos down.
Picked up a woman, just south of Lisbon
Told us we'd make us a mill if we won
All we had to do was turn up at the court
Seemed like easy pickings
But Clarrie would have skinned us if he knew what we'd done!
Never went to law school but Gerry knows best
In his true Glaswegian style
Three months later, we're a pair in trouble
And we haven't seen Izzy for a while,
Oh no, we haven't seen her for a while!
So we've roped in a tortoise for the travelling show
Making him dance for the money you'll throw
Clarrie still doin' whatever he can
Preaching bit of gospel, running round Brighton trying to top up his tan.
And still there's gipsies, tramps and thieves
All over every Portuguese town
They're nothing but gipsies, tramps and thieves
And every night the blonde men hang around
And we're both goin' down :(

They give gypsies tramps and thieves a bad name.
Wonder what the twitter world is saying.

But the pros are mostly outnumbered so they're having to resort to insults. I think they were put on the back foot by The Times

Re: Where do things go from here
I have to think the Sunday Times revelation will bode well for Mr. Amaral at the liebel proceedings. It proves the McCanns hindered the investigation by withholding information while focusing on 'bundleman' and Mr. Amaral's book did not hinder anything.

Here's my offering:
It's another bandwagon and another freak show
See mama's new earrings from the money they'd throw
Papa would scam whoever he could
Preach to the unwary, and acting nothing like a doctor should
Gypsys, tramps, and thieves
Are we supposed to take this lying down?
They'd call us Gypsys, tramps, and thieves
And every night spinning headlines come around
They'd try to put us down
They picked up a shyster and cut him a deal
Gave him the money, he'd make with the spiel
He was forty-odd but looked seventy-one
As his face reflected all the foul spin he had done
CHORUS
The Team was ruling and their wallets looked well
With their 'pity me' guile
Six years later they're a pair in trouble
And they haven't seen him for a while, uh-huh
Seems sunny Brighton's more his style, uh-huh
It's another bandwagon and another freak show
But the Team's sinking lower than old Jacques Cousteau
No more blagging whatever they could
No more blaming others, nemesis awaits, for the common good
CHORUS
