I'm trying to picture where he walked...
He came out off the ocean club and turned left..walked up past 5a and he crossed outside the back off the carpark?

Re: Daily Mail - Why were E-fits kept secret?
Didn't Kate McCann say in one interview think it might have been Crimewatch, at first we thought she was just hiding behind a bush or something. ('m beginning to think of the possibility that Madeleine could well have left the apartment on her own that night.

I seem to remember that because it was said Madeleine had hidden on previous evenings, not sure who said it though

....bedtime......someone said she hid between the apts or something.
Perhaps she didn't want her parents to go out and leave her..

I read right at the beginning of all this, that Madeleine had run off at tea time on a previous night hiding for half an hour. But don't know if that was just rumour or not.

I think Gerry referred to this vaguely in his police statement, I will go and check.

Re: Daily Mail - Why were E-fits kept secret?
Sorry, this is what I was recalling from 10 may statement, not the same thing
That, between Monday and Wednesday, not knowing the precise date, when they were leaving the residence through the main door, to place the children in the respective crèches, MADELEINE left running to the left, to the extreme opposite of the residential blocks where they were lodged, playing with the twins. That they walked down next to the most remote end of one of those blocks, not knowing exactly which one, and the three children got into one of the gardens at the back. Then they walked down the inside alley at the back, next to the hedges, up to the street that led to the secondary reception.

Re: Daily Mail - Why were E-fits kept secret?
Carpenter wasn't the person who was picking up his kid from the reception area night crèche. He took his kids to Tapas to eat and then home. At 930 ish, maybe. His wife said she already heard the people calling Madeleine when they were between the bar and their own apt.kitti wrote:So he took his daughter to the tapas in her pjs?
If that had been him Jane saw I think they'd have sorted that out quickly because he was helping them for several days.
I wonder how many people besides the Ocean Club front desk workers and |Tapas bar workers and Jeremy and his wife, Gerry and Kate told about leaving their kids behind. Before the abduction Wilkins' wife asid that Gerry was bragging about their listening service and she thought "I could never do that" - in admiration of their lack of paranoia, or some such nonsense.
I am sure they went about spreading the glad tidings far and wide, since their plan was so clever and allowed them to have a catered meal close to the house and not have to take kids to the crèche nor pay a sitter.
Kate makes a big deal out of the fact that the reception person wrote it down but yet Gerry seemed to think it was fine to go around talking about it like an eejit.

Re: Daily Mail - Why were E-fits kept secret?
Tanner said they sat there with their baby monitors up on the fence behind the table so everyone knew they had left the kids, but I didn't hear anyone going around bragging about it other than Gerry, kate was supposedly horrified that the reception girl had written it down like it was that person that was the idiot, rather than them for doing this against a warning that it wasn't safe.tanszi wrote:and in the light of events, is anyone asking why they did that? were any of the other T9 going around saying the same sort of things?
They seem to feel perfectly smug about their arrangements regardless how badly done they were. Night after night of this, and then going on television, getting a child protection lawyer to tell them they were well within the bounds of responsible parenting, so go ahead, Europe! Leave them kids alone.

Re: Daily Mail - Why were E-fits kept secret?
Gerry told nearly everyone he met about his lack of child minding arrangements, yet I believe that Kate complained about the reception girl writing down the note about why they were requesting a block booking of the Tapas Bar's biggest table for the entire week. Apparently it was a risk that they were willing to take. However, it is ironic that they could complain about the note (which helped them get their group booking), yet they still maintain that they had done nothing wrong! Well, if there was nothing wrong with what they were doing, and they told everyone they met that they were doing it, then what would be the big deal about a little sticky note that was likely removed immediately after the booking was approved? This is of course another example of the McCanns shifting blame to someone else. It wasn't our fault because we left the children alone repeatedely night after night, it was the reception girl's fault because she wrote it on a stick note!widowan wrote:Tanner said they sat there with their baby monitors up on the fence behind the table so everyone knew they had left the kids, but I didn't hear anyone going around bragging about it other than Gerry, kate was supposedly horrified that the reception girl had written it down like it was that person that was the idiot, rather than them for doing this against a warning that it wasn't safe.tanszi wrote:and in the light of events, is anyone asking why they did that? were any of the other T9 going around saying the same sort of things?

Of course - if no one knew the kids were left alone, then no one could have gone in and gotten one.jinvta wrote:Gerry told nearly everyone he met about his lack of child minding arrangements, yet I believe that Kate complained about the reception girl writing down the note about why they were requesting a block booking of the Tapas Bar's biggest table for the entire week. However Gerry was making it public and the baby monitors on the table also sends a big signal.
You can't have it both ways, if it was so safe and so clever then why did you get this result? If it was stupid to broadcast it then they were guilty of that themselves including the fact that everyone who worked in the kitchens, in the Tapas and at reception would know, as they would have to get the meals together to cater them at the bar.
The lack of accountability is really staggering, from the first time they arrived right through the kidnapping and afterwards.

The only evidence of the "note" in the booking sheets is Kate's say so. The copies of the Tapas Reservation sheets in the PJ files show no such note, neither have I seen it mentioned anywhere else. Wilkins said Gerry told him if they were staying for two weeks, they would probably stay in one night. Seriously.
I have never seen or heard two adults put blame on others to the extent those two do. The receptionist was wrong because of the note, the abductor was wrong, the PJ were incompetent, Amaral was vindictive, the dogs were unreliable, the Millenium was too far away, the weather was cold , the FBI were not brought in, Portugal has no Naval service or heat seeking helicopters. They bleat on and on.
It must surely be a recognised medical condition.

Re: Daily Mail - Why were E-fits kept secret?
Yes mossman, it is called psycopathy, or at the very least narcissism. I have always doubted the existence of a sticky note. These two will accept blame for nothing.

Re: Daily Mail - Why were E-fits kept secret?
Well, surely the abductor WOULD be the one who was most at fault but I hear what you are saying.
In hindsight, for Portugal to have prepared itself for their arrival with heat seeking helicopters is a bit of hindsight.
Better foresight to watch your children, and not go around telling one and all that you've left them alone.
