FBI Releases 2012 Hate Crime Statistics
WASHINGTON—According to statistics released today by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, 5,796 criminal incidents involving 6,718 offenses were reported in 2012 as being motivated by a bias toward a particular race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity/national origin, or physical or mental disability. The statistics, published by the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program in Hate Crime Statistics, 2012, provide data about the offenses, victims, offenders, and locations of the bias-motivated incidents reported by law enforcement agencies throughout the nation. Due to the unique nature of hate crime, however, the UCR Program does not estimate offenses for the jurisdictions of agencies that do not submit reports.
Hate Crime Statistics, 2012, includes the following information:
* There were 5,790 single-bias incidents. Of these, 48.3 percent were motivated by racial bias, 19.6 percent were motivated by sexual-orientation bias, 19.0 percent were motivated by religious bias, and 11.5 percent were motivated by ethnicity/national origin bias. Bias against disabilities accounted for 1.6 percent of single-bias incidents. There were six multiple-bias hate crime incidents reported in 2012.
* Of the 3,968 hate crime offenses classified as crimes against persons in 2012, simple assaults accounted for 39.6 percent, intimidation accounted for 37.5 percent, and aggravated assault for 21.5 percent. Ten murders and 15 forcible rapes were reported as hate crimes.
* There were 2,547 hate crime offenses classified as crimes against property. The majority of these (74.8 percent) were acts of destruction/damage/ vandalism. Robbery, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, arson, and other offenses accounted for the remaining 25.2 percent of crimes against property.
* Of the 5,331 known offenders, 54.6 percent were white and 23.3 percent were black. The race was unknown for 11.5 percent, and other races accounted for the remaining known offenders.
* Most hate crime incidents (32.6 percent) occurred in or near homes. Over 18 percent (18.3) occurred on highways, roads, alleys, or streets; 8.3 percent occurred at schools or colleges; 5.7 percent happened at parking or drop lots or garages; and 4.1 percent took place in churches, synagogues, temples, or mosques. The location was considered other or unknown for 12.8 percent of hate crime incidents. The remainder of hate crime incidents took place at other specified or multiple locations.
Recent Changes to Hate Crime Data Collection
Beginning in January of this year, new UCR data collection methods allowed law enforcement to get even more specific when submitting bias motivation information. For example, as a result of the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crime Prevention Act, agencies can now report on crimes motivated by "gender identity" bias and "crimes committed by, and crimes directed against, juveniles." And a federal directive enabled our UCR Program to expand and/or modify its data collection categories for race and ethnicity. (This enhanced 2013 hate crime data will be published in 2014.)
FBI’s Role in Combating Hate Crimes
In addition to our annual hate crime report—published to help provide a more accurate accounting of the problem—the FBI is the sole investigative force for criminal violations of federal civil rights statutes. As a matter of fact, hate crime is the number one priority in our civil rights program, and during 2012, we opened some 200 hate crime investigations.
But in addition to our investigations, we also work closely with our state and local partners on their investigations—offering FBI resources, forensic expertise, and experience in identifying and proving hate-based motivations. We participate in hate crime working groups around the country to help develop strategies that address local problems. And we conduct training for local law enforcement, minority and religious organizations, and community groups to reduce civil rights abuses.

Hi Gary, yes, racial hatred has increased dramatically because the indigenous population in the Western World have witnessed a huge inflow of people from the Middle East and other Countries which threatens their existence in their own Country.

Re: FBI Releases 2012 Hate Crime Statistics
Exactly That !!! That is my own thought about that theme. And i think as well that these last years are just the begining of Mass exodus to the western world. I even sometimes ask myself, ifi will live long enough to witness uprising Revolutions in the Western world. The first will be (that i know for sure) in the United States, just remember the anarchy after Hurricane Katrina.

That's dreadful Gary, trashing peoples furniture ..........The British Government has tied itself to the European Union which says all members can stay in other EU Countries and receive benefits . Trouble is Britain has been too soft and the illegal immigrant situation is out of control.

The UK and/or EU are just (in the 2 cases) just 2 letters (just like US). Neither is better or worser than the other. Those 2 Letters just symbolize a "Kind of" Umbrella.
And in coming future everybody will (try to (at least) sing)
"Im Singing in the rain, just siging in the rain"....And, a very nice Song (Refrain) though. Lets dont forget Gene

Former KKK Leader Indicted for Cross Burning in Alabama; Second KKK Member Indicted for Perjury
Former KKK Leader Indicted for Cross Burning in Alabama; Second KKK Member Indicted for Perjury
WASHINGTON—Steven Joshua Dinkle, former Exalted Cyclops of a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) in Ozark, Alabama, was arrested on Wednesday, November 27 in Mississippi for burning a cross at the entrance to a predominantly African-American neighborhood and for obstructing the investigation into the offense. Pamela Morris, Dinkle’s mother and the former secretary of the KKK chapter, was arrested on November 21, 2013, for committing perjury before the grand jury investigating the cross burning.
Dinkle, 28, was charged in a five-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in the Middle District of Alabama that was unsealed on November 27. The indictment charges him with one count of conspiracy to violate housing rights, one count of criminal interference with the right to fair housing, one count of using fire to commit a federal felony, and two counts of obstruction of justice.
The indictment alleges that on May 8, 2009, Dinkle conspired with another person to burn a cross in an African-American neighborhood to threaten and intimidate residents of that neighborhood and thereby interfere with their federally protected housing rights. Dinkle allegedly constructed a six-foot cross, wrapping jeans and a towel around it. He and his co-conspirator drove the cross to an African-American community near Johntown Road in Ozark, where Dinkle poured fuel on the cross, erected it in the ground and set it on fire. The indictment further contends that Dinkle obstructed justice by lying to local investigators in 2009 and federal investigators in 2012. Dinkle claimed he had withdrawn from the KKK months before the cross burning, provided a false alibi, and denied knowing a person who was, in fact, his superior in the KKK.
The grand jury returned a separate indictment against Morris, 45, charging her with two counts of perjury. The indictment alleges that Morris made multiple false statements to the grand jury investigating the cross burning when she denied her own involvement in the KKK and knowing that Dinkle was also involved.
If convicted, Dinkle could face a maximum statutory sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the conspiracy and criminal interference counts; sentence maximum of 10 years in prison for the use of fire; a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for obstructing justice by making false statements to local investigators; and a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for making false statements to the FBI.
If convicted, Morris could face a maximum statutory sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count of perjury.
This case is being investigated by the FBI, with the assistance of the Dale County Sheriff’s Office and the Ozark Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jerusha T. Adams of the Middle District of Alabama and Trial Attorney Chiraag Bains of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.
An indictment is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Morning Gary, I presume you live in Luxembourg? Maybe you could post on what's going on in the EU to integrate more with Members, we can't really comment on what is going on in the US, just a thought.

Now first, i do not get into politics from here, neither overseas, just because (even though Luxemburg is always been mentioned inbetween EU-Topics) i am engaged in Security Business, and as it is a small country, i know how things work (here).Panda wrote:Morning Gary, I presume you live in Luxembourg? Re: FBI Releases 2012 Hate Crime Statistics
As for your Question. No they aint. (ARE NOT) ! These Cases (just for instance)...
Through all these recent years, cases like:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natascha_Kampusch
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ariel_Castro_kidnappings
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvarez_case
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaycee_Lee_Dugard#Reappearance
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fritzl_case
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lydia_Gouardo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linz_sisters
...(I could go on with cases like these) show that there is a World beyond the one we call Reality. How Many People ("Ex-Children") are beeing held captured right now ? Thats kind of the same question you asked me right before, a question noone can answer, but everyone can guess (if he has emotional feelings). However, Life remains a Mystery. But the Truth will come (or appear in some form). Mostly important, it WILL !!!

Re: FBI Releases 2012 Hate Crime Statistics
Thanks Gary, Iv'e only read the Kampusch case so far.......very interesting.
Kampusch was 10 when she was kidnapped, Madeleiene almost 4, quite a difference. I find it odd that Kampusch had her Passport with her when she was abducted on her way to school. If Madeleine WAS
kidnapped , it was not random because she was taken from her bed and the kidnapper would have known the back entrance to the Apartment was unlocked. Maybe we will never know what happened to her, a bit like JonBenet.
