Its an old one but a nice reminder that the mccanns havn't always had it their way. And would suggest that the papers and the police have a fairly comprehensive file on the bad doctors.

I think it's Political and read somewhere a long time ago that Gerry was a Fundraiser for the Labour Party. This would account for him knowing the Blairs socially and having their Mobile numbers .
