Cass, I think that when we can share our thoughts with others, as we do here and elsewhere on social media, we learn that we can trust our gut instincts and know that most of the time we are right to be negative.
Little Mikaeel's disappearance seems so similar to Madeleine's: child put to bed and at a later point found to have disappeared. No evidence of break-in and child not seen since.
Re: re these child abductions ?
so true anna and maybe just maybe the uk will start and think that these cases are almost alike - since the mcann case there has been too many - sy i hope that you are watching this - portugal too

Re: re these child abductions ?
I'll add Kiesha Abrahams to the list. Her case was the one that I was thinking of as sounding the most similar to Mikaeel's.
It isn't only since 2007 that people have become wary when children disappear that the family may be involved. It doesn't mean of course that they are every time but they have to be checked out first.
It's hard to imagine now but in comparatively recent times parents often left babies in prams outside shops or other public places. I can remember quite a few who were taken from their prams. My mother used to get a feeling whether the persons responsible were family members or strangers.
The only rare occasions when babies are taken now is as newborns from hospitals and strangers are invariably involved then.

I wish that people who should know better would STOP trying to convince us that gangs of professional child thieves are operating snatching children from their beds. They are not. And neither is it very likely that burglars turn into child stealers if a child cries. They don't. Not a word about the three burglars lately I notice and not one reference to Madeleine. Even when this poor little boy first went missing. Presumed snatched from his bed as he wasn't there when his mother went to wake him.

Re: re these child abductions ?
I guess that we're now 'old hands' at examining these tragic situations, but there's still that ice-cold pang in the pit of the stomach when we finally learn of yet another young life cut needlessly short.
Those who bleat on endlessly about fake abductors and seek to accuse all and sundry of a crime (except for those who pay their salary) are beneath contempt and beyond pond slime. I'm sure they nauseate everyone with a modicum of intelligence.
I watched ACC Malcolm Graham making his sad statement and trying to hold back his emotions. A genuine guy if ever I saw one.
When faced with an evil act, let us take time to remember all those selfless people who willingly turned out to help in any way possible, and the police and attendant services who were a shining example in difficult and frantic circumstances.
A reminder that there is still so much that is wholesome in a dirty, corrupt world full of liars, sadists and shysters who will do and say anything for money.
RIP Mikaeel.

Re: re these child abductions ?
I was going to start a thread on this. I can't see how SY can whitewash this now.
6 Phillpott children
Tia Sharp
Shannon Matthews
Mikaeel Kular
That's 9 children whose parents have tried to scam everyone about their children's deaths in only 7 years, does it include a 10th, Madeleine McCann?

Re: re these child abductions ?
Were the police trying to say that this was a professional child stealing? OMG.
The rapidity with which they solved this case tells me they knew who to suspect from early on.
Well done to them for managing to solve this, find the boy and detain the mother.
now, had the mother brought in a professional spokesperson and gotten her media pals, the Ambassador, the PM to intervene for her, a different outcome - one which wastes millions of £s of taxpayers' money and police time that could be better spent elsewhere - might have been found. And that could still happen depending on the story mum tells but hiding his disappearance puts the blame right on her for this, her or someone she's protecting (BF). Forensics will show how long he's been dead and if it is one day more than she's claiming, then it's her. Although Casey Anthony hid her daughter's death and lied to cops for MONTHS and still got off scot free.
However SY started from the outset with "the parents weren't involved" with MM case. You wonder how they will solve it if the parents are involved. They will never look at them and they won't find the other bad guy if he doesn't exist, so they are between a rock and a hard place.

Re: re these child abductions ?
It is not a matter of being negative,it is about common sense and instinct. Those who are parents in particular will sense almost immediately if something doesn't sit right. And then as further information emerges those feelings are either reinforced or maybe not.
In this case i suspect most of us felt something wrong early on,but you always hope for the best.
That said all we know so far is that the mother is a liar, the Police seem to be doing their job and we had the press treating us to the usual array of idiotic experts talking about professional abductions.

Oh brother!
The first thing I'd be looking for if I were he would be a new tailor! WTH was going on with that jacket.
"An open mind is paramount. There's no body, so that indicates one more positive directive to actually suspect that this child has been professionally abducted," he said.
Well, to say that there is no body within the first 26 hours is a bit optimistic, now he looks like a fool.
He's not a proper detective, anyways.

Re: re these child abductions ?
And maybe we (and perhaps Andy) can learn a little from what we have seen of the Police so far in this case who were clearly ferreting away behind the scenes looking at the immediate family and the mothers movements whilst on the surface keeping a calm open mind.

As the police stated, it was a 2 track investigation. (But they new which one it would be!)

Re: re these child abductions ?
When I first read about this case and saw the pictures of hundreds (possibly thousands?) of local people out searching for this little fellow, I thought of the people in PDL searching for Madeleine while her parents sequestered themselves with their friends working on a timeline. As time went on and I read about "professional" abductors, I questioned whether any adult (other than the mother) had seen the sick child since before Christmas. Yes, since 2007 I question how little children can go "missing" from their beds while they are supposed to be in the care of a parent or two.
I was disturbed, but not surprised, when the little boy's body was found. I really was hoping the outcome would be different but, the power of reasoning took over a couple of days ago as more sketchy details were made public.
May his little soul rest with the angels.

Re: re these child abductions ?
What I find fascinating is the number of McCann apologists who continue to not even entertain the reality that the McCanns could be guilty of a crime. One of my friends won't hear a bad word against them, insisting that it is preposterous to suspect them.
Yesterday she text me to ask what I thought had happened to the little boy. SHE said 'I bet you any amount of money the mother or father has killed him and they've hidden the body'. I replied saying 'genuine question...what's the difference with this case and the McCanns in her mind? The colour of their skin? The fact the McCanns are Drs? The fact that the McCanns are fairly well off?'
Her reply 'good point!'
But I bet you any amount of money she still thinks the McCanns are innocent of any crime!

Your friend MAY still think the McCanns are innocent but, the fact that she questioned the family in this case, she may re-examine her thinking about the facts in Madeleine's case. In fact I think there will be more apologists doing the same, at least I hope so.

Re: re these child abductions ?
I find it horrifying that ex-policemen can go on National television and use the phrase 'professional abductor'.
Did ever such a term even exist before may 2007?
It's LUDICROUS, just ludicrous.
It shows how low we have sunk as a society when a term like that that is bandied about .
The country is run by liars and thieves. We are morally bankrupt.
The McCanns are a symptom.

I so hoped this little boy would be found alive. However, a three-year-old, if they were wandering the streets in this cold weather, at night-time, would be very vulnerable.
