A QUESTION
I have found, in June 2013, in the first volumes of the Polícia Judiciária Files, that a man is referenced who: (a) was living near the 5A apartment, (b) was living near the location where the Smith family saw the suspect, (c) had a previous record for theft, (d) was an Ocean Club employee, (e) was not working between 09:00 pm and 11:00 pm on May 3rd. 2007, (f) might know well the Ocean Club apartments, (g) was in the zone at 11:00 pm on May 3rd. 2007, and (h) was in the zone at the time Madeleine was abducted (confirmed by his mobile phone records). The block 5 (where the 5A apartment is) had a theft on 5L on April 17th. 2007, and an intent of theft on G5 (5G) on approximately April 26th. 2007. That is, 17 and 7 days before the abduction of Madeleine. Was this man already investigated and ruled out? (he was not Euclides, the man who died in a tractor accident).

Rabbit in a hat?

DCI Redwood's facial expressions always looks to me like that of 'a rabbit caught in the headlights '!

(It means literally hypnotised. Rabbits go like that when they are caught in the headlights of an oncoming car. It's that point where fight or flight is so overwhelmed by danger, chaos or overstimulation that the rabbit just freezes)

Also shape shifting lizards act strange when caught in the headlights allegedly.   

I think the wooden, pun fully intended, non-blinking look is inscrutiblity, rather than 'rabbit caught in the headlights'. The only time he has been animated, and that not by his body language, only by his voice, is when he has said things like: 'We are fighting for Madeleine McCann'. Me, I wonder exactly who he is fighting, if fighting for the truth about what happened to her is what he is genuinely doing..... Hmmmmm. That man will not want to go down in history (and go down in history he surely will, one way or the other) as the passive facilitator of one of the biggest cover-ups in history. I think he may well 'go for it'. Let's hope I am not wrong. I have misjudged people before in giving them the benefit of the doubt! :-(

In the US, the saying is "deer in the headlights." Amaral had so much more passion than this puppet. He has dug himself pretty deep, and I am not sure he will be able to crawl back out.
