Maddie Cops at War !
Is tomorrows sensational 'Maddie' story served up by the Daily Star.
Clearly Andy was not impressed with the cheap Vinho Verde served up on his visit last week.
Or maybe they cant quite reconcile any of the E fits with the no.1 suspect ! What with him being the wrong colour and all.

Re: Maddie Cops at War !
According to the front page blurb, it's a 'source close to the UK inquiry' talking to the Star.
That must be a 'source close to the UK inquiry' then.
We've had all the various assorted 'suspects'.
Oh how we laughed.
Now TM go back to trashing the PJ again.
Still, it'll give Mr Redwood a very good idea of how scared sh*tless the McCanns are.

Quite right too!
If the 'source' isn't prepared to put its name to its claims, then either it doesn't have the courage of its convictions, or it's lying through its teeth for malicious purposes.
Either way, that makes it a coward (and worse) IMO.

Re: Maddie Cops at War !
The way Sky News Online sees it: "The splash in the Daily Star is that British police fear that Portuguese police may be hunting the wrong suspect in the case of Madeleine McCann". Then why don't the British police get busy and question the tapas bunch hopefully someone by now is ready to forget the "pact" and is ready to talk (after having secured immunity of course).

Re: Maddie Cops at War !
So the gist of the article (and the "war") is: The British police believe Madeleine was "snatched" by the gang of three burglars, while the Portuguese police believe the now dead "tractorman" "abducted" her. Serious question - do people actually BUY these tabloid papers or are distributed free? I can't imagine wasting cash on this garbage.

Portuguese police are bungling the hunt for Madeleine McCann, say Brit detectives
FRUSTRATED British police fear Portuguese officers are chasing the wrong lead in the hunt for Madeleine McCann.
By Jerry Lawton/Published 18th February 2014
Top brass are desperate to liaise with their foreign colleagues after it emerged they are chasing different suspects.
UK detectives are worried an “us against them” scenario is developing, and it could hinder attempts to find the missing girl.
British investigators believe the three-year-old was snatched after disturbing burglars who broke into her parents’ holiday apartment.
And their chief suspects are a three-strong gang who made a high number of mobile calls nearby on the night Maddie vanished.
But Portuguese detectives are concentrating their efforts on a theory that a now-dead heroin addict abducted Madeleine.
They believe Euclides Monteiro snatched her in a twisted act of revenge against the Ocean Club holiday resort after he had been sacked from a job there the year before.
They have questioned his widow Luisa after mobile phone analysis placed his handset near the McCanns’ apartment in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz that night in May, 2007.
Monteiro, 40, was killed in a tractor accident four years ago.
Police from both nations launched separate hunts for Madeleine last year after each spent two years reviewing files from the original case, shelved as an unsolved mystery in 2008.
Though each force claims to have unearthed new leads, their inquiries are heading in different directions.
A source close to the UK inquiry said: “If we don’t form a joint investigation task force, any advantages in terms of pooling resources and information may be lost.
“We can’t have an ‘us against them’ scenario developing. This is not a game. A little girl’s life may be at stake.’’
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe has called on the UK and Portuguese governments to form a joint international task force to conduct a single united inquiry.
He said the UK and Portuguese probes were “two separate inquiries with a different focus”.
And he added: “It’s important that we work together on what is clearly a common problem.’’
Yesterday Luisa Rodrigues, 40, said she was sure her husband did not snatch Madeleine. She said when Portuguese detectives told her he was their No 1 suspect, she was “speechless”.
She added: “They said they suspected him because he used to work at the Ocean Club complex and because they had tracked the signal from his mobile.
“But I’m sure he would have been at home watching TV. That’s what he always did after work.’’.

Re: Maddie Cops at War !
Thanks jeanmonroe........I suspect Redwood is relaying all this info to yet again try to make out the Portugese Police are bungling idiots because they are miffed the Oporto Police won't share their info. Why should they co-operate when from day 1 the Police were ridiculed by the British Press, a British PM persuades their Government to re-open the case and investigate themselves, insulting isn't it.!!!! Come on Portugal, get your finger out and stop this nonsense.

Redwood isn't relaying anything.
Any current newspaper story which infers a rift between the two police forces is nothing more than the usual pink shyte.
Team McCann is trying to divide and rule. And failing miserably.
On the Rothley Stress Levels Barometer, the needle has now reached Effluent Up To The Armpits.

Re: Maddie Cops at War !
Before the Portugese re-opened this case, this headline could have set the whitewash wheels in motion nicely.
SY know who did it, Portugal, useless cops, won't co-operate. Poor Scotland Yard cannot get their man.
That cannot work now....the Portugese are running their own investigation.
In order for Portugal to discount SY theories, they must have a reason. They must have their own theory (and Gerry says that's ok).
Will the files from Portugal be published if they were to shelve this as un-solved again ? If so, that is a big worry for SY. That could throw up more questions than answers and they know every published word will be picked apart slowly but surely by Internet nutters around the world.
Portugal want this solved more than any party involved in this long running saga. There is no way on earth they would ignore a credible suspect and refuse to co-operate. So they must have evidence to refute SY's theory. Likewise, if they too are to be party to an international whitewash, they would not ignore this story. It could be done and dusted in a matter of weeks, everyone happy.
It's pink spin, distraction tactics again. The question is what are they keeping off the front pages while this rubbish takes up space. That's the real story of interest.

Thanks - I do try to be topical wherever possible!
Btw, have just seen this great tweet re The Star:
Nigel Moore @mccannfiles 5m
@JerryLawton On a weekly basis, The Beano works out cheaper than the Daily Star and the stories are much better. #mccann

On the slight off chance this is accurate reporting how can British cops say they want to avoid a "them and us" situation when at the same time the "source" says:
Portuguese police are bungling the hunt for Madeleine McCann, say Brit detectives

I guess the UK police have to come up with some excuse to redeem themselves after, what appears to be, an extremely dismal performance. Easier to put the blame elsewhere than admit they actually haven´t got a clue.

Cameron: "Sorry about neglecting your flood 'defences' Mrs Smith, but i can't provide you with Government taxpayer funding, to help you try to reclaim your devastated home and life"
"We need any spare taxpayer £MILLIONS to help the very rich Kate and Gerry McCann, who's daughter went 'missing' in Portugal, while they were out of sight at the tapas restaurant, with unlimited taxpayer funding, to find the ONLY 'missing' child in the UK"
"I'd like to give you £6,775 a day to help you clean up, but i need that much every day for the 38, full time, Madeleine Cops at Operation Grange.
"so no, Mrs Smith, the Government will not be giving you £4.73p of taxpayers money, to buy a pair of wellingtons with, when Kate and Gerry need unlimited £millions and are the No 1 priority for the UK Government"

Re: Maddie Cops at War !
Anorak News' "Madeleine McCann: All Eyes On The Dead Black Man" take on the Daily Star and Mirror latest reports. As always, Anorak sticks with "such are the facts" the clincher being "It's very easy to blame someone who can't defend themselves any more." www.anorak.co.uk
It always strikes me that Anorak knows all this garbage comes from the former Director of the Gov't's Media Monitoring Unit, whose function was to control what gets printed in the press.

Re: Maddie Cops at War !
No Smithman was white and looked like gerry mccann, the flat head being a bit of a give away really.
I am not convinced the Portuguese police are chasing a dead tractorman.
I doubt the Portuguese have shifted their position much from their original findings though they may well be thinking a little more about David Payne.
SY are a joke but really not funny.Nearly 3 years and £8. Mill and they come up with ridiculous statements that make no sense to anyone except the uninformed hoards they think still trust the red top tabloids.
I dont believe SY have 38 of the finest Investigators on this case actually, thats just what they tell us but common sense says different.

Re: Maddie Cops at War !
There is no precedent that I can recall of Scotland Yard getting involved in PR on an ongoing case with for example, the leading detective appearing on a couch in a TV studio to answer questions. Redwood's TV appearances and his statements were totally unnecessary and as such, are totally out of order. They do nothing to further the investigation of the case - in fact quite the opposite - they are designed to muddy the waters. I am afraid that I am unable to detect any difference between Mitchell impersonating a police officer at a press conference complete with deadpan face and E-fits and Redwood impersonating a PR spokesman in a TV show complete with deadpan face and E-fits. IMO the show goes on - the only difference being that we now have the senior British detective on the case doing the job of private detective Edgar and PR spokesman Mitchell. The headlines concerning 'a state of war' between the Portuguese and British police therefore come as no surprise. IMO it's the last throw of the dice before the Brits withdraw complaining that they are unable to solve the case because the Portuguese are obstructing/bungling their efforts.
