There are people who are gay, and live in countries where this is not allowed, mostly Islamic which is a warning for those who do not yet realise the true threat of Islam. Of course they have a perfect right to leave that country where they are living in misery and fear. I would be the last to deny them that right.

The question comes in two parts. Firstly are they genuine asylum seekers at all, not because they are, or may be gay, but because if they are genuine they would seek asylum in the first safe country they come to. If I was fleeing for my life I most certainly would. If they are genuine they will be granted asylum. If they are not, then the sooner they are sent back to their homelands the better (and cheaper) for us.

The fact is we are an Island. Except for a small minority of cases, asylum seekers have crossed more than one safe border, and are therefore not genuine at all. Surely that is merely a matter of common sense, and doesn't require the attention of highly paid legal representation. A year or so ago, an African woman, who had herself claimed asylum in the UK tried to sue the British Government (the one that gave her succour and protection, and to whom she showed no gratitude) because her daughter also here to claim asylum had crossed so many safe borders to get here, that she was traumatised from the experience. Absolute rubbish of course. The daughter was clearly not genuine, and why had the mother left here behind anyway. he own genuineness being to me at least questionable.

However it is one thing to claim being gay is the cause of having to flee in terror or a political dissident or whatever. It must be proved or disproved. There is no easy way to do that, and the gay community know it very well. Yes, it may be degrading surely better to be degraded that flung into a filthy cell or tortured or killed. After the degradation comes unemployment benefit, free medical attention, a far better standard of housing, and complete freedom to leech off the country. To even attempt to force the government to change, and simply accept them at face value is in the end doing the gay community no service. It will simply cause resentment. Is that really what they want?

Anyone arriving in the UK other than on a plane would have had to pass through Norway, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Eire or Iceland. And last time I looked, not a single one of these countries were "unsafe". So none of these people would be genuine "asylum seekers". Considering the vast majority get here by hiding in lorries that then arrive on ferries, the whole bloody lot should be deported on sight. Why should they get preference over other migrants who are genuine and abide by the immigration rules?

Good morning Iris.

Agreed, that has always been my contention. If you are genuinely fleeing from a regime which will imprison, torture, or even kill you, that is what asylum seeking is for. No one argues that. As you say, these people do not as a general rule just appear having been transported by TARDIS from their nemesis. If genuine, they would stop at that first safe country, and be grateful to be safe. Why do they all head here?

I don't think I need to belabour that point, we all know why this country is more attractive to them that the countries you mention. Finance, Medical, and the just plain stupidity of those in political power. They know that once here, the chance of being deported back is almost nil. Watch Nothing to declare, they are deported with amazing regularity while ours are released back on to the streets to carry on with their semi legal milking of the country.

Then there is always the possibility of meeting up with a partner (There are quite a few about) and translating your feelings for them into a British passport. In that respect I also find it funny (peculiar not ha ha) the number of young foreign, often Muslim men who while in fear of their lives, have left families who are apparently not in fear of theirs. Surely logic says they must be. nevertheless they come here, claim asylum, meet the aforementioned British passport and their wives, and families back home are conveniently forgotten about.

Then we come to the reasons they come. No it is not good enough for them to say Oh I am gay, and I will be tortured in my homeland. It remains to be proved whether they are gay or not, and if they think that is degrading, how much more degraded would they be languishing in one of their own prisons, or being regularly beaten, or put in front of a firing squad. That WOULD be degradation. The gay community, in it's apparent insistence that they be taken at face value and welcomed, when they are bogus to start with will only bring about more resentment of the gay community, who don't seem to want parity with the straight community any more. I am perfectly happy to accept a gay person male or female for what they are, but that doesn't make me better than them, and it doesn't make them better than me. It will cause resentment, and it will simply increase the numbers of asylum seekers, and hasten the killing of the golden goose which is what they are doing.

No country in the world can afford to go on the way we are. fewer jobs for the indigenous while the asylum seekers who have paid less into the system will eventually take as much out as an indigenous person. Ever growing amounts of money being sent abroad, with nothing coming in to balance the books. Most of it on African charities, which while laudable have proved ineffective at the least. It cannot go on.

Afternoon katertaif,

The Border Agency says it will take many years to trace the immigrants who melted into the Country while the information they provided was being checked. Why we don't have immigrants sent to an Island like Australia does I don't know. they are vetted on the Island and if not considered a desirable immigrant, put on the next Plane Home.

I lived in Jersey for many years, a small 45 sq mile Island. They sorted their problem out neatly. The genuine ones who had a job to go to were given a Visa valid for 6 months, if you havn't got a visa you can't work and the Farmers abide by this rule, as do the Bulders so they don't have a problem.

The Border Agency said a while back that the Belgians did not check passports for passengers on the Eurostar so all immigrants have to do is walk away when they arrive at St, Pancras.

Good afternoon Panda

I could not agree more. Yet another reason for us to if not get out of the EU completely, simply do what the others do Obey the directives that they are happy with, and ignore the rest. The reason the Belgians perform no checks is easy enough. It works for them. The problem is passed straight to us, whereas if they checked, they would be stuck with it. the whole asylum system is being systematically abused and must be overhauled root and branch. Bogus, illegal, or undesirables sorry but no, on your bike. My wife has just been asked to sign a petition to keep some girl here, who after two years is about to be deported.

The excuses put forward by the bleeding hearts for keeping her here are pitiful in their transparency. All her friends are here How many could she have made in two years? Yet her personality which is so bubbly here to allow her to make all these friends, didn't allow her to make the same friends in her home country.

She fled from, and may again be abused. Not specified as to what this abuse may be. what is she, a little girl or an international drug lord? Needless to say, the petition was not signed by us.

Most of the countries I have been to, and many of them Muslim. (you know, the ones determined to Islamify us, Europe, the Americas, and eventually the world. Operate this kind of visa system. Only work visas are issued, and dependant visa's strictly controlled. If you have no work there, you have no visa, if you have no visa, you're out of there.

A friend of mine started applying for another job, before his contract ran out. (We all did that of course, but you have to choose your time carefully) he had left it a little late however. the contract finished before he had formally been offered the other job, and the paperwork for the visa put in place. They notified him two days after the end of contract that he had the other job. By then he was back in the UK, and the job went to the second choice whose contract still had a couple of weeks to go. Plenty of time to sort out the details. If they can do it I'm b****y sure we can.

I watched a Documentary a couple of weeks ago on BBC2 and apparently the immigrants contributed a lot to the Economy in the 70's when Britain was quite well off, we still rely on Doctors and researchers etc who contribute much , it's the illegals who went to ground years ago and are impossible to trace now. Outside Boots the Chemist near where I live a Woman sits on the floor outside every Winter , playing the Guitar , no ,it was 2 notes, 'boom ching' over and over. must have been in her 60's , with a Scarf around her mouth.

No Police Officer approached her to move on or check her residency.

Hi Panda

Yes, I watched that documentary as well (while thinking of you of course) I also watched a similar one a few days ago, before my enforced incarceration in a hospital bed.

I predicted before we watched it that it would come down on the establishment side, the politically correct side, and say at the end "overall, immigration is good for Britain" That is almost word for word what they did say.

I don't believe a word of it. It may have been necessary at the beginning for West Indians to be brought here in great numbers, although I would dispute that as well. Union mishandling having a lot to do with labour shortages in post war Britain. Powell signed the first mandates, and shortly afterwards realised the monumental mistake he had made.

To a degree immigration has always taken place, and in the good old days, they either assimilated themselves or in effect died out. The resurgence of Islam, and the continuing mass immigration policies, together with the wholesale plundering of the west have completely upset that balance.

Leaving political correctness aside. Mass immigration, cannot be good for us. Even without the idiotic amounts being sent abroad in foreign aid. The vast majority of immigrants today are first generation. Their accents testify to that, and that their own children cannot speak English. They will not, indeed cannot pay as much in contributions as an indigenous person, many being in the black economy anyway. One thing is for sure, they will eventually take out of the system every penny an indigenous would. In terms of medical care, pension etc. etc. that is a constant drain which is getting larger. Transients come here, claim for children in their home countries, send their money back every week/fortnight/month, and eventually retire to the custom built house they have had made courtesy of the British taxpayer. When they start a business, their own patronise it, while boycotting ours. More money leaving the community coffers

Yes, we all did that as expatriates, but oil money flowed in as well to balance the books. here there is no such balancing. We are being ripped off in every way imaginable until eventually the Golden Goose will have no more to give, and the green and pleasant land we knew will be a memory.

The only positive aspect of Islam taking over in Britain is that state handouts will stop, and asylum seekers will be shown the door

Will we , as non Muslims be treated badly though??? I was in a Taxi just yesterday driven by a Muslim, dressed in Muslim clothes, but his English was perfect and he told me he has lived here for several years. He was very young when his Parents brought him to Wales. Being a chatty type I got talking to him and he agreed that immigration in Britain is now a severe problem, not least because we are such a small Island and it must be addressed, but will take years and strong resolve which he doubts the Government will have. He believes every major City has it's radical types and they are forming political groups who are becoming more powerful.

Hello Panda

I don't think whether we will be treated well or not is the question. It makes us sound a bit like the inhabitants of a zoo. I think the question is do we want our land to be taken over by a religion which at best is hidebound, uncaring, and totally patriarchal in that women are second class. That is at best. At worst we would be called Dhimmis, which can be defined variously as second class, or even slave. Ruled over by a deity who seems to gloriy in death and destruction

The taxi driver was telling it the best way he knew. I had a similar conversation on the way to Birmingham airport a couple of years back. Of course not all of them are fanatics and even fewer are out and out terrorists, but then, do they tell tales on each other? The answer is no. The security services are not informed by this rank and file. partly I agree because of the possibility of repercussions.

Remember it is the solemn duty of all Muslims to help Islamify the host country, and anyone hanging back on that may be treated harshly as well as us Dhimmis. As to whether that will happen. Look at Boko Haram in Northern Nigeria. Killing Christians and burning churches is almoat an evening out. The same in Syria. Assad for all his faults didn't bother the Christians, the so called jihadists from Britain and elsewhere in Europe consider it their duty. As they do in Egypt. Again Mubarak left Christians alone. Post Mubarak there have been killings Burnings, abductions, forced marriages etc. Then let's look at honour killings Panda. No we don't want it here.
