Madeleine McCann News: British Detectives To Begin ‘Operational Activity' In Portugal

British detectives are poised to begin staging operations on Portuguese soil as they investigate the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
Investigators from Scotland Yard are waiting for an official agreement later this week, and hope to begin "operational activity" linked to the case in the near future.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Martin Hewitt said he is "cautiously optimistic" that Portuguese and British officers can act soon.
Madeleine McCann has been missing since 2007
He would not reveal what the operations will involve.
Police also revealed that they are now looking at five more cases in which young British girls were sexually assaulted during holiday home break-ins by a lone intruder in the Algarve. A further, sixth case involved a “near miss”.
Of particular interest to the team is a sexual assault on a ten-year-old which took place in Praia da Luz in 2005, where Madeleine, then three, vanished from two years later.

Scotland Yard made public appeals to try to trace the paedophile last month, and so far more than 500 people have made contact with information.
Met Police Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood described the man as "an offender who has got a very, very unhealthy interest in young white female children, who is attacking whilst they are on holiday in their beds."
Officers are now looking at a total of nine sexual assaults and three "near misses" on British girls aged six to 12 between 2004 and 2006.
Madeleine, who was then nearly four, disappeared from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal's Algarve on May 3 2007, as her parents dined at a nearby tapas restaurant with friends.
The Metropolitan Police Service continues to offer a reward of up to £20,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the person(s) responsible for the abduction of Madeleine McCann from Praia da Luz, Portugal on 3 May 2007.

Quote from article
"The Metropolitan Police Service continues to offer a reward of up to £20,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the person(s) responsible for the abduction of Madeleine McCann from Praia da Luz, Portugal on 3 May 2007."
Unquote.
The 'abduction' word is starting to reappear....
Pray God the 'Arguido word' becomes reattached to their name before too much longer, but that's perhaps a tad too much to expect from a society
where Politicians, 'hardly the most upright members of our society' are permitted to become involved in the application of law.

I have noticed though what is missing from all these articles......none off them actually talk about madeleines 'whereabouts'......they never talk about her being found alive, they all point to her being not alive, theres no urgency in what they are doing, its always next week or in the next few weeks.

"unhealthy interest in young white female children" ?
Strange wording. Are there a lot of black female children in the Algrave? And wouldn't it be "unhealthy" if the young female children were black?

As the years go by, the statements being put out by our Super Sleuths and sycophant media get more and more pathetic.

Re: British Detectives To Begin ‘Operational Activity' In Portugal
Thanks for the Article malena,
Just what the Hell is going on????? Is this latest SY offering duly given to all the Press meant to suggest Madeleine is alive???? The SY Police should be ashamed of themselves for ignoring the Portugese criticism about the British Press quoting SY information given to them. , their arrogance is worse than their ineptitude and the Portugese Police have been too tolerant. Close the case NOW and have done with it I say.

If he was smelly and pot bellied that would make him generally unhealthy.
Still no explanation why he would take away a dead child !

Make them Arguidos again and use Amaral's evidence to charge them with child abandoment at the very least. For God's sake they even addmitted to doing so in a tv interview.
Something needs to be done to put a stop to a once highly respected police force and system of justice embarressing itself on a regular basis by the outpourings of pathetic, nonsensical childish theories and accusations made against dead or disabled paedophiles, cat burglars or visitors from the planet zog.

"I am not 'unhealthy' thankyou very much!"
"Alright, i might have put on a few pounds around my belly, after Christmas dinner, and i might stink sometimes, but i am not 'unhealthy' generally, and i did NOT assault those kids in Portugal, i was washing my hair those nights, no matter what those elite Maddie Cops in UK are saying"

We all knew that there will be 'news' when the anniversary comes near. Every year the same shit.
Or if there is some other news about mccanns which should not reach UK press. Met it doing mccann PR, and taxpayers pay for it. No more no less.
Just
Pathetic.

The Mercury's Spin.....
Met detectives may soon start work on Portugese soil in Madeleine McCann case
http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Met-detectives-soon-start-work-Portugese-soil/story-20999907-detail/story.html

Metropolitan Police officers investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are hoping to start investigations on Portuguese soil soon.
It was announced at a briefing at New Scotland Yard today that detectives investigating the Rothley youngster’s abduction are waiting to make an official agreement later this week.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Martin Hewitt told reporters: “I am cautiously optimistic that in the not-too-distant future we are going to start to see activity.”
He would not say what the investigations would involve.
Officers from Operation Grange also revealed today that they were looking into six more cases in which young British girls were sexually assaulted during holiday home break-ins by a lone intruder in the Algarve.
These six cases bring the total number of incidents the force is looking into to 18.
These cases are:
three incidents that took place in Praia de Luz between 2005 and 2010
five incidents that took place in Carvoeiro between 2004 and 2006
nine incidents that took place in the Praia de Gale, Vale de Parra, Sao Rafeal (Albuferia district) between 2004 and 2008
one incident that took place in Vilamoura in 2005
Of the six new cases, all but one had been reported to the Portuguese police at the time of the offence. Five involved sexual assaults on children and one was a ‘near miss', officers said.
One of the incidents, which happened in 2005, was on a 10-year-old girl in Praia da Luz - where Madeleine vanished two years later.
Scotland Yard made public appeals to try to trace the paedophile last month, and so far more than 500 people have made contact with information.
Police said they had a positive response to an appeal in March which has led to a number of new lines of inquiry.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood, the senior investigating officer, said: “I’m encouraged by the new information that has come to light as a direct result of the appeal in March.
“There has been a huge public desire to assist us with our investigation and I would like to thank those who have provided us with new information.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Operation Grange incident room on 0207 321 9251. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Re: British Detectives To Begin ‘Operational Activity' In Portugal
Thanks malena, it's a puzzle to know exactly what is going on .......only weeks ago the Portugese publicly complained about the British Press. Now we all know the Press couldn't be printings this c*** without SY providing the info so what do they hope to acheive???
This time sky , with the aid of a Map in the studio showed 12 areas in Portugal where children were at risk, what will the Portugese Residents have to say about this ???? Will it mean less holidaymakers with children going to Portugal , which needs all the Tourists it can get.? Will the Portugese slap a ban on SY releasing any more information to the Press?

Hi fred, yes , what is going on is anyone's guess. Common sense tells me SY must be barmy if they think the Portugese will ever let them know what OPORTO has found, if anything. Common sense tells me there is no way the Portugese will spend any more money on this case and should close it.
As I said earlier on another thread, the photo of Madeleine's bed shows distinctly the Portugese page showing it was part of their investigation. It would seem sy copied it and used it in the article, did the Portugese give their permission?
