Madeleine McCann: What do we know about the case? /Independent

So what we know is that Portugal, especially The Algarve, is awash with burglars, some with a penchant for molesting children at the same time and the odd one who ignores all the valuables on display and thinks taking a child will be more lucrative and can enter and leave without a trace. So perhaps we're looking for a magician as well as all the other suspects.

But a combination of absent parents, a burglar entering the property and a scared child could result in the child fleeing the property. Just a thought, and the burglar would not be hanging around either, he'd be off quick as a shot in the opposite direction and he'd keep quiet for fear of taking the blame.

Not an everyday scenario I know, but so far none of the scenarios put forward to explain Madeleine's disappearance are everyday scenarios.

An extremely health conscious burglar who cleans the place from top to bottom before leaving and doesn't leave a single trace of him or Madeleine being there.
