KM has just said on TV 'everytime we come here we have to make arrangements for someone to look after the kids'
They could off flown out early this morning and flown out late afternoon.
Instead they come in two days earlier for a freebie....

I presume that Kate kept a straight face when she said that about the childcare - goodness knows how she managed it!

This really makes Amaral look bad, not the McCanns. Why does he keep having to engage different Lawyers?
I hope you just saw this......the McCanns interviewed outside the Court both losing their temper ...justified in this case. Apparently Amaral sent a letter to the Court early this morning. Why didn't he notify us before we left home yesterday.??? There were a couple of comments by a couple of Reporters ,
couldn't hear the questions but obviously did not want to answer them and they cut the interview short.

That was rich the statement about childcare. Why were they OK to be left alone at the age of two but not OK now. A neighbour could listen at the door surely to make sure things were OK.

It is a disgrace that Mr Amaral should engage in this legal action and force the parents to attend a court in Portugal ..... Oh wait a minute....

The fact that Amaral has sacked his lawyer is ominous, he did not attend the Court but sent a letter. any Lawyer he engages will have to plough through the history of the case . Why didn't he offer to defend himself instead of holding up the Court. ? The case was meant to be closed in January, so the McCanns could take a couple of days to make their Statements without Amaral needing a Lawyer ...you couldn't make this up could you
No it's not, it's a delaying tactic, like the ones that McCanns have been using from Day one. You don't REALLY believe he sacked his lawyer at the worst possible moment, without having another one lined right up, do you?

Oh, I am sure he knows what he is doing. He is playing the system just like the McCanns have done for the past 7 years. They've met their match and that's why they are so unhappy.saloongirl wrote:I just hope it doesn't backfire on him.

Re: Sky Reporter outside Court gives update
i really hope hes ok , but the mcanns will now milk this for a few days , omg saying they have to get child care , this is the start of it non childcare , we are gonna get disgraced cop headlines for days to come . poor ga , but hes not done hiself any favours by doing this , unless something in that letter he handed over can stop the case for good

Not nearly as petulant a child as Kate, with that bloody petted lip and her whiny Scouse voice. "A blatant attempt to wear us down"? How would you describe having somebody's bank accounts and other assets frozen for five years?

Re: Sky Reporter outside Court gives update
Whilst I'm quite amused at the McCann's fury....I do think this doesn't look great for Amaral, this kind of behavior. It plays into their hands and will probably end up in them receiving even more damages if they win.
And it will probably make the McCann supporters believe he's running scared.

The parents of missing Madeleine McCann today hit out angrily at the former Portuguese police chief they are suing after the case was halted when he sacked his lawyer just as they were due to give evidence.
Kate and Gerry McCann, who flew from their home in Rothley, Leicestershire, to Lisbon to testify against Goncalo Amaral over claims he made in his book about the hunt for their daughter, gave an angry impromptu press conference outside court today.
Mrs McCann told reporters: 'It brings us more pain and distress every time we come here'.
She said Amaral could have got rid of his legal team before they left England for Portugal, and when asked if she believed the 11th hour move was part of his strategy, her husband replied: 'Clearly.'
Furious: Kate and Gerry McCann did not conceal their rage with Goncalo Amaral after he sacked his lawyer
Mrs McCann told reporters outside court: 'Mr Amaral is not the victim in this', and detailed all the arrangements she and her husband had had to make to get to Lisbon, saying: 'Every time we come here we have to make arrangements for our children to be looked after, we have to take time off work.'
The libel trial against Amaral over claims in his book, The Truth Of The Lie, that the McCanns hid their daughter's body after an accident and faked an abduction, has now been postponed for ten days to give the defendant time to find a new lawyer.
Earlier today the McCanns arrived at court to tell how accusations in Amaral's book about the hunt for their daughter have affected them.
Mr and Mrs McCann were originally told they could not make statements to the long-running trial, but the decision was overturned after an appeal by their lawyer.
Arriving at court: Kate and Gerry McCann will give evidence in the case against ex police chief, Goncalo Amaral
The little girl went missing from an Algarve holiday resort in May 2007
The couple are suing Mr Amaral over his 2008 book entitled Maddie: The Truth Of The Lie
They are expected to deliver emotional statements at Lisbon's Palace of Justice, describing how the claims by Mr Amaral have caused them unnecessary grief.
Their appearance will mark the end of the trial, but a final ruling on the case is not expected until later this year.
Last week, the couple's spokesman Clarence Mitchell confirmed that they were planning to attend court after the judge decided they could speak at the trial after all.
Their daughter Madeleine, who was then nearly four, disappeared from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on 3 May 2007 as her parents dined at a nearby restaurant with friends.
Her parents say that claims in Mr Amaral's 2008 book, including suggestions that they hid Madeleine's body after she died in an accident and faked an abduction, damaged the hunt for their daughter and exacerbated their anguish.
In October Mr McCann's sister, Trish Cameron, told the libel trial that the couple's pain over their daughter's disappearance was 'multiplied 100 times' by the book, and they had been left in 'purgatory' by the disappearance of Madeleine, and claims that they were somehow involved.
If successful the family stands to gain around £1 million in damages.
The McCanns' court appearance comes after they last week said the fact police found no evidence relating to their missing daughter during recent searches in Praia da Luz had reinforced their belief that she could still be alive.
Torment: The McCanns' appearance in court comes the week after a fruitless ten day search for new leads
Mr and Mrs McCann said they were 'very pleased' with the significant activity that had taken place in the Algarve resort and it was 'gratifying' to know that a substantial amount of work will take place over the coming months.
During searches of three areas of land over 10 days, detectives found no evidence relating to Madeleine, saying the recent activity was only the first phase of the investigation and more would be carried out 'shortly'.
In a statement, the McCanns said: 'We are very pleased that significant activity has taken place in Praia da Luz over the last 10 days with police officers and support teams from the UK working closely with the Policia Judiciaria and the Guarda Nacional Republicana.
'We are further encouraged that despite the intensive searches, no trace of Madeleine has been found and this reinforces our belief that she could still be alive.
Agony: Mr McCann's sister has said that the pain the couple felt was 'multiplied 100 times' by the book
'As parents of a missing child, we have always wanted all reasonable lines of inquiry to be followed and it is gratifying to know that a substantial amount of work will take place over the coming months with the close co-operation of the British and Portuguese authorities.
'We would like to thank all those involved for their efforts and the members of the public who have come forward with information.'
Searches in the Portuguese resort saw officers from Scotland Yard's Operation Grange working alongside specialists from around the UK, including Sussex Police and South Wales Police, with the Portuguese police

Kate dear - you are not a victim either. It's the daughter you lost, her name was Madeleine, she is the victim. You don't work, so no "we" have to take time. Leave the doors unlocked no baby sitting needed then, heck they will be in school during the day, ask the neighbours to have a listen at night. All sorted.
