Nobody's laughing at Madeleine McCann case

Kate and Gerry McCann are really laying it on thick in a libel suit against Goncalo Amaral, going as far as using their surviving children as pawns in their well-calculated strategies against the former Portuguese boy-in-blue. One of Gerry's latest comments is a bit odd, though. He says that the "kidnapper is laughing" at the claims made against them as parents of missing child Madeleine McCann.
Who's really laughing, though? There is no evidence that a "kidnapper" even exists in this case. There is no evidence that anybody broke into that Algarve apartment the night Maddie vanished. There is no evidence that any unknown party was involved whatsoever. So who's laughing? The McCanns also claimed that Goncalo's claims (which were backed by investigative manpower and forensic evidence) severely damaged their "struggle to find Madeleine." Well, isn't that just rich?
What search for Madeleine? How many times have Kate and Gerry physically searched for their missing daughter? When this child first disappeared, Kate didn't do any of the searching you'd expect a mother would do if her toddler went missing. Instead, she did some laundry, cleaned some of the girl's belongings. She even admitted in a BBC interview that she never physically searched for Madeleine. Of course, this year she claimed that she takes "secret trips to Portugal" where she personally looks for her daughter. Yeah. Right.
The glaringly obvious fact of the matter is that Kate and Gerry McCann's reputations were damaged, not their efforts to search for Madeleine. They were brought into the spotlight as possible suspects in their daughter's case, and since then have viciously tried to sue Amaral for speaking the truth -- while having books literally banned from being sold, for the writers dared speak the facts of this case.
If anybody is laughing in this case, it's the people who are making money off of Madeleine McCann -- and no, I'm not talking about the bloggers, authors, detectives and reporters. I'm talking about the attorneys and a couple of doctors who just can't seem to tell the truth, but this is no laughing matter at all.
