THERE RECKON THAT SAUDI ARABIA COULD HAVE PROBLEMS DUE TO A SLUMP IN OIL PRICES AS WELL THE OTHER GULF OIL STATES.

Quite right Panda, have you noticed that whenever the price of crude goes up,, the prices at the pumps follow practically the same day. Yet when the price falls, or is depressed as it is now, the price stays the same and sometimes has been known to go up. An interesting problem? or just money grabbing?

Yes katertaif, everyone says it is not cheap to run a Car these days, bring back Horses and Carriage I say, free fertiliser provided by the Horses and people will learn to live at a leisurely pace again. When I lived in Jersey I bought a second hand Mini, umpteen lessons, could never master going backwards , although I passed the test first time and there was only 30 miles an hour speed limit I never felt comfortable driving . Back on topic, as i mentioned on another thread , the U.S. is very lucky having oil and shale, with all the new roads the Government is planning no one will be able to afford to drive on them.

getting back on topic it's possible given the level of poverty in saud but its a big bite for isil add to which it's doubtful the west would stand by and watch see what happens.

Oil prices affect everyone, driver or not. Food and other commodities have to be delivered, the rise in transportation costs is passed on to the consumer.

To some degree, I have to agree. The state of our roads, despite the money they rip off us every year as "road fund licence" none of which is actually spent on the roads any more, whatever lies they tell to the contrary.
The problem being that government per se have no money, They get it off us. One way or another. If we all took to horses and carriages again they would simply find a way of taxing it all. Then again, we moan at paying 25% income tax. Holland pays 40% and their roads aren't any better than ours. Their medical services are not on a par with ours (although ours are rapidly going south) So where are we better off?

I think the Saudis have made enough over the years to withstand the present depressed prices. They have used their money to virtually own our capital city, as well as New York and Washington DC. Remember when they virtually quadrupled the price of crude, and we had to take it? They have the very latest in weaponry apart from a nuclear capability. The F 15 Eagle although dated now is still classed as air superiority and they have quite a few of the F35's. F14 Tomcats are also available.
On top of all that, the west simply could not afford to lose the vast oil reserves the Saudis have. Nor their willingness to increase their output at a moment's notice. Attacking the Saudis would in effect be directly confronting the US, and us for that matter. The rest of Europe is in similar situation. We could not allow it to happen. I believe ISIL know this full well and are indulging in a little sabre rattling. the time will come of course, if we continue to do nothing. Gradually they will build up a military machine that will take some stopping but now is not the time

We are not better off Katertaif, I saw a graph yesterday on the borrowing of the U.K. Government and it has increased substantially. What have we got to show for it? Better Roads? schools,? Hospitals? Security for our Country ? a superior Police Force? NO.!

IF THEY TAKE DAMASCUS,THEN ATTACKS AGAINST ISRAEL AND LEBANON MIGHT FOLLOW,I BET ISREAL'S FORCE COULD GIVE ISIS A GOOD RUN FOR THEIR MONEY.Lioned wrote:Badboy wrote:ISIS HAVE CLAIMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR LAST WEEK'S ATTACK IN RIYADH ON A DANE.

ISIS MIGHT HAVE A HARD FIGHT WITH SAUDI FORCES,THEY HAVE PUT UP WATCH TOWERS ALONG ALL OT THEIR IRAQI BORDER.
TURKEY COULD PUT UP A GOOD FIGHT,LEBANON COULD BE NEXT PARTLY BECAUSE HEZBOLLAH COMES FROM LEBANON AND THEY BEEN SUPPORTING ASSAD'S REGIME.

Re: Will Saudi Arabia be the next IS conquest???
Isreal would kick the shit out of isis in about an hour an a half, thats if isis would ever go near their borders, which they wont because the thing about bullies is they dont pick fights with the bigger boys, they would just melt into the sand dunes and hide their identities like the cowards they are.
They can go marauding around Syria and much of Iraq and meet with pathetic resistence. If the fickle Iraqi army could grow a pair isis would be no more.
Truth is there may be a lot of them and some tribes pledging alliegence including those in North Africa but they are several hundred years away from achieving anything much more than being terrorist scaring women and children and frail old men.
It continues to be a tribal war and will remain so unless they are crazy enough to venture into the modern arena,at which point they would be obliterated.

Yes Badboy, that's about right. when I was a craft instructor in ARAMCO I had three Shi'ites and the rest of the group were Sunnis. One was from Taif and apart from being a fly speck on the map I little realised then that it would one day form part of my screen name. However I digress. They all got along reasonably well although I look back on one episode and I wonder. After lessons one day I mentioned that I could eat prawns til' they came out of my ears. The next day, the Shi'ite faction brought me a full sack of prawns, while the Sunnis brought me two full sacks. To this day, I don't know if this was the age old feud or a combined attempt to get rid of me with a surfeit of Prawns.
One of the biggest differences between them is when certain of what we would call "feast days" fall. That did not however prevent them from taking each others feast days off. so if they fell right we had no trainees for a week or more. If you really played your cards right you could get another two leaves a year out of it with full pay. plus Ramadan of course when none of them turned up.
