Yes Marky, I worked for the NHS a while ago, p/time Receptionist and can vouch for the waste and bad management directives . Also, the GP doctors could be more prudent in their prescriptions, much that they prescribe is available over the counter. Big mistake doing way with Prescription charges. At the end of the day a big overhaul of the NHS needs to be done and the KingsFund monitored.

I don't think they would dare Marky !!!! My American Friends are not short of money , live in New Jersey, I have stayed with them twice for thinksgiving and talking Politics they said they pay Health Insurance and find it incredible that everyone pays nothing . I did point out that a percentage of earnings taxed is for the NHS....they asked about the unemployed and retired , and when I told them they don't have to pay anything they thought Britain was MAD. I didn't like to mention that the immigrants don't pay either, LOL

what they are probably doing, having done it successfully with a hospital in the midlands i think, is have more and more hospitals run by private companies to make them run right, while still retaining their nhs status.

Marky, Gordon Brown sold off I think 300 Hospitals which had 30 yr leases many now expired and in Private hands. Hunt , appointed Health Minister because of his success as a Business man is at least trying to modernise , but one thing which should be done immediately Is to stop
Nurses trained by the NHS leaving as soon as they have Graduated to work in the Private sector. They should at least stay on a couple of years to pay for their tuition.
