Re: Blacksmith: Hatred Becomes Them
I think Kate's mother criticised them.
Kate's mother questioned the sudden religious fervour too.
I don't get the feeling Kate's mother is easily fobbed off.

Re: Blacksmith: Hatred Becomes Them
Projection is a classic defense mechanism, one of many used by the McCanns. The McCanns are full of contempt (which can be shown in their body language, particularly Kate's snarled lip). Because they are not comfortable with these intense feelings of hatred and know that the feelings are undesirable, they project those feelings on to their doubters.
This is why anyone who questions the McCann's fairy story is termed a "hater." However, most of those alleged "haters" are merely "doubters" who have no hatred for the McCanns themselves, but disapprove of their actions both before and after Madeleine went missing.
Is it wrong to "hate" child neglect?
Is it wrong to "hate" lying and non-cooperation with an official police investigation?
Is it wrong to "hate" spending the bulk of the fund on legal action rather than searching for Madeleine?
I could go on, but these are some of the main things about the McCanns that offend people. The doubters don't "hate" the McCanns as people, but are disgusted by their actions which have left Madeleine in the situation that she has found herself in, and have prevented justice from being taken against those who caused her harm.
The McCanns, on the other hand, absolutely hate their doubters with a vengeance.

personally i wouldn't use the word hate in your three bullet questions, disapprove is so much better. as for hate, it's self consuming. haters have to hate the whole time while the hated, once aware, move on. a pointless emotion if you ask me which you didn't but i told you anyways.

I agree Marky: hate is self consuming and they would be too pleased if we suffer because of them.Don't let them take a too big place in our lifes. Irritation, contempt would be for me more appropriate. Ok also for "disapprove", may be preceded by "strongly".

irritation and contempt would indeed be more appropriate and yes, some people do feel more strongly about certain things than others.

Re: Blacksmith: Hatred Becomes Them
Sorry, bad use of words.
I put the word "hate" in parenthesis because I don't believe it is appropriate in those circumstances.
However, the McCann doubters are classified as "haters" merely because they disapprove of, are disgusted by, or are offended by the things that I listed.
The only hatred is coming from the McCanns themselves, as Blacksmith rightfully points out.
