Telegraph - Madeleine McCann latest: are police any closer to knowing the truth?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/madeleinemccann/11078595/Madeleine-McCann-are-we-any-closer-to-knowing-the-truth.html
In the eight years since Madeleine McCann went missing from a holiday apartment in Portugal, myriad theories about what happened to her have taken root, but only one fact remains uncontested: that she was reported missing at 10.14pm on the evening of Thursday, May 3, 2007.
It's a long article, just about to read it.
ETA: Just found out this was originally published on 2oth January but I haven't read it before.

Re: Telegraph - Madeleine McCann latest: are police any closer to knowing the truth?
The Telegraph wrote:In March 2014 Scotland Yard announced that a lone intruder sexually assaulted five girls aged between seven and 10 in the Algarve between 2004 and 2006. The man, who has never been caught, was said to have a “very, very unhealthy interest” in young white girls.
The four incidents, one of which involved two girls, were among 12 in which men had entered holiday accommodation in the area, including two incidents in Praia da Luz. The force also said it was looking at 38 “people of interest” and were researching the backgrounds of 530 known sex offenders, including 59 regarded as high interest.
True or not? Is this something the Portuguese did not wish to publicise at the time? But do the Portuguese dispute it now? I have not really heard that they dispute this ever happened; however it is strange that the families involved did not say more about it at the time. So I ask again, true or not?

As far as I know, if it really haopened, there were no official complaints with the Police at the time....

well makes you wonder why the parents didn't go to police, and if they didnt then why are they saying now. their actions at the time, if the incidents happened, might have stopped them happening elsewhere.
