Bloody mccanns
They have put in an appeal on 12th July to try to stop Mr Amaral appealing against them getting there 400,000 payout.
Greedy b******s....
All this money that people have given to the fund out off the goodness off their heart and they are using it to hurt and humiliate Mr Amaral.
WHEN ARE PEOPLE GOING TO WAKE UP!!!!!

I think the majority of people have woken up kitti, but for whatever reason the greedy Mccanns seem to be above any law, they certainly have no humanity and they appear to be able to do whatever they like and get away with it. I truly don´t know how they live with themselves.

Re: Bloody mccanns
That's it, they just live with themselves and their close family....
I think it's stuck in their craw that people have given money to Mr Amaral and his appeal.
Trying to stop him appealing is the lowest off the low and we all know how nasty Kate McCann is and how low she will stoop to hurt Mr Amaral.

For what it is worth, as I understand it, all that has happened is that the McCanns have registered the fact that they will fight against the appeal in court. I guess this is what we would expect them to do. I don't think they can stop an appeal taking place - thank goodness.

I know they must have some very powerfull UK friends in high places but I agree the McCanns (and their friends) can't stop Dr. Amaral's appeal from going forward in Portugal.
It must really frost their behinds that the appeal fund continues to grow and, if they read the comments from donators, they can gauge the mood of those who have read the official files and support the findings.
I truly don't know how they can sleep nights let alone live with themselves.

Re: Bloody mccanns
THEY CANNOT STOP GA 'APPEALING' AGAINST THE 'JUDGEMENT' AGAINST HIM!
Indeed, the McCann's HAVE themselves, 'appealed', and LOST, TWICE, about GA's 'book ban'.
For which THEY, AND their CHILDREN, ARE LIABLE to PAY their LOSING court 'costs'!
THEY were the 'appellents'
III – Decision
In harmony with what is written above, under the terms of the cited dispositions, the Judges at this Appeals Court declare THE VALIDITY of THE APPEAL FILED BY defendant Dr. Gonçalo Amaral, and the sentence of the a quo Court is revoked, its disposition replaced by the following:
The INJUNCTION (FILED by McCann's) is deemed NOT VALID because it was not proved.
Furthermore we deliberate that we do not acknowledge the rest of the appeals. (filed by McCann's)
Costs to be paid by the appealed parties [the McCann couple AND their three children].
Lisbon and Appeals Court, 14.10.2010

Brits send Maddie cop’s appeal fund to €50,000
The wave of public support for former PJ investigator Gonçalo Amaral has hit a new record this week, with over €50,000 now amassed to help him fight his appeal over the €500,000-plus damages awarded against him in the long-running civil action taken out by the parents of Madeleine McCann. But as supporters shared the news, calling it a victory for “people who put their heads above the parapet”, an internet campaign trying to prove “there is no appeal” and that Amaral is simply raising money under false pretences is trying to gather steam. In a bid to establish the true picture, the Resident has been in touch with the offices of Isabel Duarte and Ricardo Correia, the lawyers acting for the McCanns. Dr Correia told us: “You are right. Gonçalo Amaral made an appeal on 15th June, and we replied on 13th July”. As to the length of time this appeal is likely to take, he was unsure. “It is an appeal that goes up in the ranking of the courts”, he told us, adding it would take “at least a month”. And as to why no lay person has been able to access these details via Portugal’s judicial website, CITIUS, he explained: “You aren’t able to get details unless you have a password and a log-in”. As a lawyer, you “don’t see any lawyer’s cases, just your own”, he added, which explains why anyone trying to research this case and where it stands will only ever find screenshots. With the August judicial holiday almost upon us, the chances of Amaral’s appeal being heard before October look slim - but in the meantime, the online appeal to help him pay legal costs is ongoing. Intriguingly, this appeal that has joined over 2,000 people - many of them giving small amounts every week - has been virtually ignored by mainstream media. No one is sure why it is being ignored, but certainly the truth is that anyone who publicises it will then find themselves vilified online. As a legal expert agreed, “it is a curious mark of this case that anyone who does not comply with the accepted storyline will find him or herself being insulted, harassed and generally abused. I can see a story there, actually”. It is indeed a story. And as the expert warned: “You do realise that the minute you stop this rumour, they will find another one to bug you with, don’t you?” natasha.donn@algarveresident.com

http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2010/10/lisbon-appeals-court-ruling.html
Article 81º
(Voluntary limitation of personality rights)
1. All voluntary limitation of the exercise of personality rights is null if it is contrary to the principles of public order.
2. The voluntary limitation, whenever legal, is always revocable, although with the obligation to indemnify any damages that were caused to legitimate expectations of the other party.
We conclude that the applicants voluntarily decided to limit their right to the intimacy of private life, certainly envisaging higher values like the discovery of their daughter Madeleine’s whereabouts, but upon voluntarily limiting that right, they opened the doors for other people to give their opinion about the case, in synchrony with what they were saying, but also possibly in contradiction with their directions yet always within the bounds of a legitimate and constitutionally consecrated right to opinion and freedom of expression of thought.
We do not see that the right of the book’s author, the defendant, can be limited by a right to the reservation of intimacy that suffered voluntary limitations by their holders, the applicants.
In the same way, concerning the applicants’ right to image and a good name: UPON PLACING THE CASE IN THE PUBLIC SQUARE and giving it worldwide notoriety, the applicants (mcCann's) OPENED ALL DOORS to ALL OPINIONS, even those, THAT ARE ADVERSARIALTO THEM.
Lots of 'interesting' stuff, Portuguese CONSTITUTIONAL 'RIGHTS', in 'judgement'
SUPPORTING, GA's 'rights'!
Well worth 'reading' in it's entirety.
That's why no one can 'fathom' the libel case 'judgement' against GA.
WHERE is......... Judge Maria Emilia Melo e Castro.......... NOW?

That is absolutely correct Claudia, no one can appeal or stop Mr Amarals legal right to appeal.
I hope Dr.Amaral one day gets the justice both he and MBM deserve.
I take my hat off to the courage of that man, all he ever did was his job.

That's "it", isn't it; Dr. Amaral was doing his job!!!! It was the McCanns' job to care for and protect their children and when they reported Madeleine "missing", it was their job to look for her and to fully co-operate with law enforcement. Instead they continue to persecute the one man who worked tirelesly to solve the mystery of her "disappearance". Bloody McCanns indeed!!!!!

They aren't appealing against the appeal. That doesn't exist. They are replying to the appeal which is their right and which GA would certainly also do if it was the other way around. That's how it works.

I never even saw that reported until he was found dead!!! The borders weren't obviously closed and a more 'Metropolitan' response not expected!! Double standards indeed.

Yes double standard. Sad to hear of this young man's death after an eight day search and to be found just a few metres from where he was last seen alive. I have to wonder why the police appeal for information didn't go out until four days after he was reported missing. My sympathy to his family and friends, may he rest is peace.
