Kate and Gerry hit back at 'ignorant' 'Ill-informed' star after she accuses them on TV
Outspoken star Sharon Osbourne has been blasted by the parents of missing Madeleine McCann after she branded them “insane” for leaving their daughter alone.
Former X Factor judge Sharon made the hurtful claims on her US chat show The Talk as she criticised parents for leaving children without supervision.
In a clear attack on Kate and Gerry McCann, Sharon said: “I will tell you a very quick story. There was a husband and wife on holiday in Portugal.
“They left their baby in the room sleeping, sleeping while they went to dinner in the restaurant.
“While they were in the resort their baby was taken. And it is like, ‘Oh but we can see everything that is going on’ and it is, like, insane.”
The comments on Friday’s CBS show have outraged Kate and Gerry.
A family friend said: “It’s very disappointing when someone with such a high profile makes this sort of ignorant, ill-informed comment.
“She should think about the effect it could have on Madeleine’s brother and sister, as well as the wider family.

“Kate and Gerry have never forgiven themselves and this should not have been aired in a random way, as it apparently was.
“It’s based on ignorance of the true facts. While she’s entitled to her view she should keep it to herself.”
Maddie was snatched from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007, days before her fourth birthday and has never been found.
Kate and Gerry were with other parents at a restaurant a few hundred metres away and the adults took it in turns to pop back to check on their kids.

Sharon, 63, and her panellists were discussing a thread on Mumsnet social media site. A British woman had asked if parents would leave a 10-month-old child sleeping peacefully at home for seven minutes.
Another questioned whether it was acceptable to leave a baby sleeping while they picked something up approximately 50 metres away.
Reacting to the suggestion, mum-of-three Sharon said: “This is insane. It is like so many things happen in just a second. If you leave a candle on and the curtain blows on it and it caught on fire.
“And I think of all these scenarios in my head and there is no way in a million years that you would ever do that.”
Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, have previously admitted being plagued by guilt over missing Maddie
Days after her abduction dad Gerry said: “Hindsight has proven we made a mistake and we would never leave the children again.”
And as Kate launched her book, Madeleine, in 2011, Gerry said: “Blaming us takes it away from the abductor. Someone stole a child. Of course we feel guilt. But it doesn’t bring the child back. So we tried to take control of things you can influence, to help the search.”
Kate said: “People say, ‘Why didn’t you get a babysitter?’ Having a babysitter implied there was a risk situation and we just didn’t see it like that.
“We didn’t think it was necessary. It wasn’t to save money.”
But she later added: “It goes without saying that we now bitterly regret it.” Cardiologist Gerry has also said: “Who’s thinking about child abductions in a little sleepy out-of-season tourist resort?
“It never entered our minds. We felt very safe — it was a family resort.
“At home you put your kids to bed and go off and do things about the house and garden and don’t think about it.
“We were checking on our kids only metres away. After, we were consumed with guilt. But we can’t change it.”
Sharon’s publicist was approached for comment but did not respond.
But the star – in talks to return to The X Factor – faced a backlash from the families of other missing children.
Sandy Davidson, three, vanished in Irvine, North Ayrshire, in 1976 after trying to catch his dog which had run loose. He had been playing with his sister Donna, who is now 42. Last night she criticised Sharon, saying: “The McCann’s have been through an horrific ordeal and comments like this are unhelpful. People like this should stop passing judgment.
“I’ve met Kate a couple of times and we share their pain. They are victims.”
Meanwhile Nicki Durbin, who is friends with the McCanns, has spent 10 years searching for son Luke, 19 – last seen in Ipswich after a night out.
Nicki, 47, said: “If you had to walk in our shoes, then perhaps your perception would be different.”
Sharon is currently dealing with marital issues over claims rock star husband Ozzy, 67, had a fling with LA hair stylist Michelle Pugh.
Hours before her chat show Ozzy was seen with Sharon and their dog Bella, jumping into a car in Beverly Hills.

Kate said: “People say, ‘Why didn’t you get a babysitter?’ Having a babysitter implied there was a risk situation and we just didn’t see it like that.

So, a NO 'RISK' SITUATION, eh Ka£e?

Sharon Osbourne has caused a stir after she suggested the parents of Madeleine McCann were 'insane' for leaving their daughter alone on the night she went missing.
The 63-year-old made the comments on her US chat show The Talk while discussing a thread on Mumsnet, which asked whether it was ever okay to leave a 10-month-old baby home alone.
In reference to Kate and Gerry McCann, the former X Factor judge criticised parents who would even consider doing this on the CBS show on Friday.
She said: 'I will tell you a very quick story. There was a husband and wife on holiday in Portugal.
'They left their baby in the room sleeping, sleeping while they went to dinner in the restaurant.
'While they were in the resort their baby was taken. And it is like, 'Oh but we can see everything that is going on' and it is, like, insane.'
A friend of the McCann family spoke to The Mirror after the show was broadcast and claimed Sharon's remarks were 'ignorant' and 'ill-informed'.
The friend added that she should have considered the effect on Madeleine's brother and sister and kept her opinion to herself.
Maddie was taken a few days before her fourth birthday and has never been found.
She disappeared from her bed in a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, a resort in the Algarve region of Portugal, on the evening of May 3, 2007.
Her parents were eating dinner with friends at a nearby restaurant. The couples had been taking it in turns to go back to the apartment and check on the children.
The friend told the paper that Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leicester, have never forgiven themselves after their daughter was snatched that night.
Adding that the remarks should not have been aired in the random way that they were.
Speaking on the show, Sharon claimed that 50 per cent of mothers who responded to the post agreed that they would never leave their 10-month-old unattended at home.
She said: 'This is insane. It is like so many things happen in just a second. If you leave a candle on and the curtain blows on it and it caught on fire.
'And I think of all these scenarios in my head and there is no way in a million years that you would ever do that.'

Overwhelming support for Sharon Osbourne after Madeleine McCann family brand her “ignorant”
It’s been revealed today that former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne has been branded “ignorant” after making her views on the issue of when, if ever, it’s appropriate to leave a child alone…
It all began during filming of an edition of CBS chat show, The Talk, when Sharon brought up the subject of recent discussion on a blog forum that focussed on a woman who wanted to know if others believed it was acceptable to leave a sleeping child alone to go to a shop “50 yards away”.
Having said, “It’s insane”, Sharon continued, “I’ll tell you a very quick story…
“There was a husband and wife on holiday in Portugal. They left their baby in the room sleeping, sleeping while they went to dinner in the restaurant.
“While they were in the resort their baby was taken. And it’s like, ‘Oh but we can see everything that’s going on’ and it’s insane.”
Clearly Sharon’s remarks referenced the horrendous abduction of Madeleine McCann, and according to the Mirror, her parents, Kate and Gerry, as well as the rest of their family, were deeply offended and upset by Sharon’s comments.
The newspaper quotes a McCann family friend as saying, “It’s very disappointing when someone with such a high profile makes this sort of ignorant, ill-informed comment.”
The unnamed person added, “It’s based on ignorance of the true facts. While she’s entitled to her view she should keep it to herself.”
However, the family’s consternation about it has seen an outpouring of support for Sharon online, and on Twitter, thousands have agreed with her and have defended her right to voice her opinion.
One Twitter user wrote, “Never had much time for Sharon Osbourne – but do now.”
Another commented, “I agree with Sharon Osbourne. No minor should be left unsupervised. EVER. The faux outrage from the McCanns is laughable.”
And one more tweeted, “Well said Sharon; had the McCanns not been professionals, they would have had a very different response.”
And if I might have my twopenn’orth, I entirely agree with the point of view expressed in the tweet above…
I’ve long held the view that had Kate and Gerry been Kaz and Jez from a council estate who’d gone on holiday to Benidorm and left their kids alone so they could go to the pub, the twin babies who were also in the room with Maddie would very probably have been taken from the family by social services.
However, the fact is, my heart bleeds for Kate and Gerry McCann, because while yes, of course it was wrong to leave their sleeping children alone, there can’t be a moment that goes by when they don’t feel the soul destroying weight of that…
And to have to continue to live while not knowing if your child is alive or dead, or what horrors may have been visited upon her, would for me, be too much to bear.
As I wrote in this article back in 2009, I’ve never believed that Kate and Gerry had anything to do with Maddie’s disappearance, but I’ve also never doubted that the knowledge of how their actions fundamentally facilitated the abduction must be like a million daggers to their hearts every moment of every day.
(copies of a number of tweets against Mccanns one of which mentions it being a murder investigation)
But that said, I agree with what Sharon said, and she for sure has the right to express her view. So I think it was perhaps unwise of the McCann family to react at all, because sadly, it’s again put the spotlight on their actions as parents – which cannot be undone – rather than where it should be; that is, always trained on the search for Maddie and the hope that she will be returned to her family.
What’s your view of what Sharon had to say, and of the McCann family’s response?

Mrs Osborne did not 'name' the McCanns in her 'quick story' about 'a husband and wife on holiday in Portugal.'
WHY are 'THEY' getting so erm, 'upset/seething/fuming' about what Mrs O 'said'?

Oh dear, what is the world coming to when good quality medical professionals are criticised by a mere entertainer? Just for leaving their 3 year old daughter baby-sitting their twin 18 month olds..... And it was only like leaving them in their garden while they had some me me me time with their fellow medical professional friends.. Anyway their spin doctor, Ambulance Chaser Extraordinaire Clarence Mitchell said everyone in England does it, so it must be OK...
Well said Sharon Osbourne

Re: Sharon Osbourne brands McCanns Insane for leaving Madeleine alone
This sh*t storm is of the McCanns' own making. They should have kept their mouths shut about something that was said on a US TV show because now Sharon Osbourne is trending on Twitter with a veritable tsunami of people agreeing with her.
Re: Sharon Osbourne brands McCanns Insane for leaving Madeleine alone
Just catching up on the overnight news. I see where Sharon Osbourne has referred to Madeleine as being "taken" rather than abducted - perhaps that is why the McCanns are so outraged. Contrary to the statement by the "family friend", I believe what Sharon Osbourne said is consistent with the "true facts".
I see where the Sun is accepting comments including one which includes part of Oldfield's garbled statement. Another one includes part of his statement where he describes walking through the dark car park which made him feel "a bit uneasy". Oddly enough the McCanns felt it quite safe to leave three children alone.
It's a big improvement that the Sun is allowing more fresh air in and I hope Sharon Osbourne gets a further chance to enlarge on her comments - the McCanns will not be able to shut her up.

Re: Sharon Osbourne brands McCanns Insane for leaving Madeleine alone
I was watching Sky News review of the papers this morning, and those doing so took the official: 'Oh how cruel to the Mccanns' line. If there had been more thoughful or knowledgeable reviewers, it would have been very different. Then one reviewer said 'Didn't Sharon Osborne once send a parcel of shit to someone who disagreed with her?' My goodness she'd better be proveably right about that! Awful thing to accuse someone of if not.

Even the Express is accepting comments now and it's been a while since I've seen that happen. With Sharon Osbourne trending I wouldn't be surprised if she responds to the McCanns' re-action. I think they will rue the day their "friend" spoke on their behalf.

Kelvin MacKenzie: If the McCanns want our money, they have to take our opinions too
Sun columnist says pair should avoid public spats like the one with Sharon Osbourne
I WOULD hate to be Kate and Gerry McCann. Having to live with the guilt every day that if they had made different choices, Madeleine would still be with them must make their lives almost not worth living.
Although it is nine years since Maddie disappeared as Mum and Dad dined with friends nearby (although not with sight access to their villa), the issue remains burning hot.
Take Sharon Osbourne (please). On her own talk show on the US network CBS, she described the McCanns as “insane” for leaving their children behind as they enjoyed themselves at the Praia da Luz resort in the Algarve. Ms Osbourne said that on a Mumsnet online thread, 50 per cent of mothers who responded to one post claimed they would never leave their babies unattended in the house.
Correctly, she added: “So many things happen in a second. If you leave a candle on and a curtain blows on it and caught on fire . . . there is no way in a million years you would ever do that.”
What I didn’t enjoy was the McCanns’ response to Ms Osbourne.
They accused her of being “ignorant” and “ill-informed”. In what way?
She was just giving a view — and there are much harsher and more hostile ones if they care to go online.
Further, this anonymous spokesman for the couple said Sharon should have considered the effect on Maddie’s brother and sister and kept her opinions to herself.
Really? Perhaps the McCanns should have thought first about the effect leaving the children alone on that fateful night might have.
The reality is that because the McCanns are medical professionals, they have had a comparatively easy ride.
Had Kate McCann been a single mum from Rochdale, I am sure she would have been charged in Portugal with neglect.
The McCanns would be wise not to be drawn into public spats like this.
A lot of public money is being spent by the Met on hunting for Maddie and on that basis the public are entitled to their view.
That may be painful for the McCanns, but it wasn’t the public that left Maddie alone.

Re: Sharon Osbourne brands McCanns Insane for leaving Madeleine alone
Thanks to "cherry1" - WOW!! and coming from The Sun no less. It seems to me Sharon Osbourne's comment reflects exactly what the McCanns themselves have admitted to - they left their children alone while they went out to dine. As the writer says, if the McCanns accept public money they must accept public opinion as well. It's tragic that because of Sky News, Brenda Leyland paid with her life for expressing her opinion of their behavior.

Re: Sharon Osbourne brands McCanns Insane for leaving Madeleine alone
I notice the DM has been reporting on their investigation into Prince Andrew's questionable dealings. Is it too much to hope that they might turn their investigative skills towards at least looking into the scam Find Madeleine fund. We know there is plenty there to uncover about what happened to all that public money.

Ignorant is leaving 3 children (babies) alone and going out for a meal/drinking.

I am sure that when I saw mr Amaral speaking recently , when he was sort of asked about why the macs weren't taken in ,over leaving young kids alone ,he sort of resp. onded saying words to the effect , It wouldn't have been just the macs ,but all the friends had been doing the same , it sort of hung in the air, I felt he may have been trying to say ,the lesser offence was not the answer . joyce1938

Re: Sharon Osbourne brands McCanns Insane for leaving Madeleine alone
Although Sharon Osbourne did not identify the couple she was speaking about by name, the McCanns (and everyone else) knew to whom she was referring. The McCanns recognized themselves and, through the usual friend, responded to the "insane" brand.
I can't help but wonder if the media by allowing all the recent comments are slowly turning around and letting the public say what the media, for whatever reason, are not permitted/allowed to print.
I've read recently about the two celebrity injunctions granted to restrict the celebrities from being named in the U.K. Anyone on this side of the Atlantic who were at all curious could read about these people in print through newspapers or indeed on the internet. The notion of injunctions in this day and age appears pointless to me.

Katir Price has joined in now!! I'm starting to think there is a hidden agenda to all these new stories coming out, after all, we know the McCanns only do things for there own interest.

Does this mean that Sharon Osbourne and Katie Price are officially 'trolls'? Will Martin Brunt be doorstepping them?

Martin Brunt does nor possess the required gonads to challenge either of these ladies... Brenda Leyland on the other hand was an ideal mark for the scabrous toad..interested wrote:Does this mean that Sharon Osbourne and Katie Price are officially 'trolls'? Will Martin Brunt be doorstepping them?
