Madeleine McCann News: Detectives Given Funds To Probe ‘Important’ New Lead
“It raises hope that she could still be alive.”

Scotland Yard detectives have been given new resources to help probe an “important” fresh lead in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
Investigators have taken the new development so seriously it is reported they have informed officials in Whitehall.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “This is an important new line of inquiry which could provide an explanation on whether Madeleine was abducted and transported away.
“It raises hope that she could still be alive.”
AFP VIA GETTY IMAGES
Madeleine went missing on May 3 2007, days before her fourth birthday
Detectives are following a tip that a gang of European traffickers snatched Madeleine after taking pictures of her in the Portugese resort of Praia Da Luz.
The source added: “There is specific information which is being investigated.
“The team is trying to confirm or disprove it and will exhaust every possible avenue of information, as they always promised Mr and Mrs McCann they would.
“The Home Office has agreed to continue funding the police work until it is completed.
“At present, funding is due to run out next April when it will be reviewed again.”

And Retired Yard detective Colin Sutton added the extra money for the last line of inquiry means “there must be something worthwhile”.
Madeleine vanished at the age of three while on holiday with her parents in Portugal in 2007 and, despite a high-profile international hunt, no trace has ever been found.
Hopes were high when the UK investigation into the little girl’s disappearance was launched in 2011, with Scotland Yard detectives later highlighting a sex offender who had targeted British families with young children staying in villas in the same area where Madeleine was last seen.

Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann have remained optimistic their daughter will be found
Despite no obvious progress since then, earlier this year the head of Scotland Yard’s murder squad, Detective Chief Superintendent Mick Duthie, remained optimistic.
He said: “There is ongoing work. There is always a possibility that we will find Madeleine and we hope that we will find her alive.”
One of the more recent lines of enquiry was that Madeleine may have been killed during a botched burglary.
And in April, then-home secretary Theresa May granted the team £95,000 to keep the investigation going, with the cash expected to last until October.
The new funds are expected to allow investigators to continue work until next April.

Re: maddie gang probe
So this latest news comes from "a source". I wonder if the "source" is anticipating a Lisbon decision soon or perhaps, with only three weeks to go before Christmas, the McCanns will be telling the world they will be shopping for Madeleine's gifts to add to all those piling up in her room awaiting her return and will be looking for donations. I take it then we should all give up on looking for the "burglars" and shift our focus to "traffickers".
I'm just wondering if this latest "news" from the "source" is in response to Peter Hyatt's analysis where he points out how frequently the McCanns referred to Madeleine in the past tense, indicating they didn't expect her back.

Re: maddie gang probe
My goodness, interested.... I'm surprised at your insensitivity ... to suggest that the poor, (figuratively speaking of course) grieving parents should abandon their normal Christmas routines of promoting a giving response from the general public and ask the self same public to search for 'traffickers' instead.
But it seems they may be showing a little more respect to the offerings of a proven expert and perhaps an uncontrollable one at that, than they did to forensic and canine evidence. A similar remark to the now famous, "Ask the dogs" is not likely to be asked of Peter Hyatt.

The binocular gang. A gang which worked where mcs stayed. Why on earth they would need binoculars if they saw her everyday in MW?

SCOTLAND Yard has been given more money to probe an “important” new lead in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
The development is being taken so seriously that senior Whitehall officials have been briefed by the Met on its progress.

Scotland Yard are being given more money to probe new lead in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance
Detectives are following a tip that a gang of European traffickers snatched the tot after taking pictures of her.
It could end up proving that she is still alive, nearly ten years after she vanished.
The search for Madeleine has been extended by months after Scotland Yard was given more cash.
But senior cops admit the investigation of the new lead is the “last throw of the dice” in their hunt.
Madeleine was holidaying with parents Gerry and Kate McCann and younger siblings in 2007 when she disappeared in the night
The Met is taking the development so seriously that leading Whitehall officials are being briefed on its progress.
A source said: “This is an important new line of inquiry which could provide an explanation on whether Madeleine was abducted and transported away.
“It raises hope that she could still be alive.”
Retired Yard detective Colin Sutton said the extra money for the last line of inquiry means “there must be something worthwhile”.
Detectives are investigating tip-off that Madeleine was taken by child traffickers
A focus of the inquiry is whether Madeleine, who vanished just days before her fourth birthday in May 2007, was abducted by traffickers.
One witness has claimed the youngster was photographed on the beach with her parents in the days leading up to her disappearance.
Madeleine was on holiday with her family in Praia da Luz, in Portugal’s Algarve.
The last-ditch move to discover her fate comes eight months after Met commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe predicted the force’s £12million Operation Grange probe was coming to an end.
He had said that it was likely to conclude within a few months after a final matter was checked out.
Grange’s extension offers renewed hope for Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry, both 48, from Rothley, Leics.
The couple also believe their daughter, who would now be 13, could have been kidnapped and sold by traffickers.
They have researched human trafficking comprehensively since Madeleine vanished and Kate has met representatives from several charities who help victims.
A poster released three years after Madeleine McCann’s disappearance, with a picture of what she may have looked like by 2010
She vanished from her bed in a holiday apartment while her parents ate a tapas meal nearby with friends.
The source said: “There is specific information which is being investigated.
“The team is trying to confirm or disprove it and will exhaust every possible avenue of information, as they always promised Mr and Mrs McCann they would.’’
The source said: “The Home Office has agreed to continue funding the police work until it is completed.
“At present, funding is due to run out next April when it will be reviewed again.”
A man seen by a friend of the McCann near the resort was later ruled out as an innocent Brit carrying his daughter
The child trafficking theory was first raised by private investigators working for the McCanns in late 2007.
They believed there could have been gang “spotters” working in the Portuguese resort.
There were reports of a man with binoculars looking at children on the beach and of men taking photos of kids.
The McCanns believe the pictures may have been shown to traffickers who then selected Madeleine.
The theory was given further credence by Scotland Yard who provided information about a Belgian paedophile ring to the Portuguese authorities in March 2008.
There were reports of a man with binoculars looking at children on the beach near the resort
The Met’s clubs and vice unit received a tip that the ring had placed an order for a “young girl” just three days before Madeleine went missing.
Leicestershire Police, who at that point led the Operation Task effort to help find Madeleine, were also informed.
A friend of the McCanns said: “Trafficking into Belgium and North Africa has always formed a very strong part of the investigation.
“There is definitive hard evidence that this is happening and they have looked into the fact someone was targeting children and may well have been stealing to order.”
In 2011, police in Portugal smashed a trafficking ring snatching young women and underage girls in the Algarve and Aveiro, in the north of the country.
Anti-child trafficking charity ECPAT International said Portugal was “attractive to traffickers” because of the ease in which children can be driven through borders.
Kate and Gerry McCann released a plea to then-Prime Minister David Cameron in 2010 when the Portuguese police shut down the enquiry
Police have carried out excavations in Praia da Luz looking for Madeleine’s remains.
But they have always thought there was a possibility she was taken further afield, possibly by traffickers, a predatory paedophile or someone who wanted to raise her as their child.
The Grange investigation was launched in May 2011.
In April the Home Office gave an additional £95,000 to he probe, and have apparently done the same now
It followed a personal plea from Kate to then Prime Minister David Cameron after the Portuguese closed down their inquiry.
In October last year the Met probe was dramatically scaled down.
The Home Office granted the inquiry another £95,000 in April to continue for a further six months.
Sources say that has now been matched with a similar sum.
A family source said: “Kate and Gerry will not comment on any part of Operation Grange.”
The Met Police also declined to comment.

Wow... Surely one would have thought that the last possible exhaustive avenue was interviewing Raymond Hewlett a cancer sufferer, while admittedly, a known paedophile could he possibly have managed his wheelchair up and down steps, and out of a window....

Re: maddie gang probe
The best part of the Sun article are the many comments.
My memory is getting a little fuzzy on some of the early (now nine year old) details, but I recall it was said that, when Kate was told she would be named a suspect because the Portuguese authorities believed she was lying about "abduction", she became angry and yelled something like, 'Do you honestly believe I would murder my own child?'.
I remember thinking at the time when she used the "M" word, she revealed much more than she wanted to because accidental death was my theory. I do think her guilt over Madeleine's death and her involvement in the coverup and disappearance of her little body, in a panic she might while covering for herself say something along the lines of, 'You don't really think I had something to do with this'. It was the use of the word "murder" that really surprised me.

I can't believe Portuguese authorities are "in tune" with British police regarding "traffickers" as reported by the Express. They know Madeleine is dead and why would traffickers abduct a dead child when there were two other live children in the apartment.

The McCann's are two sick individuals and we may never know what happened to their daughter except that they thought it reasonable to drug her and her siblings so that they could go out on the town. A criminal offence in the UK and in Portugal, so why were they not charged?

Hmm.
First we seem to have what is at best child neglect or abandonment. With no formal charges brought against the parents. Very strange indeed. Secondly the police don't appear to have a clue what happened, or at least have not been able to find sustainable leads in tracking down this little girl.
It seems to be playing out like the perfect crime or cover up.. Either way as a parent myself. It is my duty to protect my child from known or unknown dangers to the best of my ability at all times..

This case is a travesty. The highly trained sniffer dogs found blood traces in the McCann's apartment, but GM just laughed this off. KM refused to answer 40 police questions put to her. Read Tony Bennet's book' What Really happened to Madeleine McCann'- 60 Reasons to suggest she was not abducted', and yes, there were a lot of road works going on in the area at the time, particularly near the church in Luz, which, from what we read in the press, is very close to KM's heart! It would seem the McCanns have friends in high places.

More taxpayers' money being thrown at this case despite thousands of other Brits going missing - one every day in London.
But I guess we can look forward to armies of policemen relaxing in the restaurants of Praia da Luz again over the coming months, whilst the parents use their time trying to screw compensation from Goncalo.

Re: maddie gang probe
The Leicester Mercury has finally caught up.... (With some slight embelishments)
Human traffickers were stalking Madeleine McCann, according to tip-off
By DavidWOwen | Posted: December 05, 2016

Madelein McCann
Taken - The search for Madeleine will continue after fresh lead
Detectives have been given more money to probe an "important" new lead in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
The search for the Rothley youngster, who vanished on a family holiday in Portugal in 2007, aged three, is reportedly being extended by Scotland Yard due to the latest tip-off.
It concerns information that a gang of European traffickers may have snatched Madeleine from the family's holiday apartment in the Praia da Luz resort after taking pictures of her.
The Sun on Sunday newspaper quoted a source as saying that the new line of inquiry "could provide an explanation on whether Madeleine was abducted and transported away".
It is understood the development in the case is being taken so seriously senior Whitehall officials have already been briefed by the Metropolitan Police on its progress.
The tip has strengthened the theory that Madeleine was kidnapped and trafficked.
However, senior detectives believe the investigation is the "last throw of the dice" in the 10-year case, according to The Sun.
Parents Kate and Gerry McCann, have vowed to "never give up" hope of finding their daughter.
The Sun on Sunday claimed the search had been extended "by months" after Scotland Yard was given additional funding.
In April, the Home Office granted the Metropolitan Police investigation, Operation Grange, £95,000 to cover another six months of the inquiry.
In a separate development, offensive T-shirts making fun of Madeleine's parents have been removed from a website.
The tasteless merchandise featured an advert for the
fictitious McCann's Gym, bearing the slogan "Unfit for parents".
In a cruel reference to Madeleine's disappearance, the
T-shirt also has the words: "Creche facilities. Relax by the pool. Lose yourself in our tapas bar."
Other tasteless items removed from the site include iPad cases and stickers bearing the same slurs against the McCanns.
The items were being sold by man a man known as Seve, who has hidden his real identity on the Redbubble shopping site, the Daily Star reported.
Seve described the products as "cruel but funny" and boasted they were made with "ethically sourced" cotton.
It is not the first time the Leicestershire toddler's disappearance has been turned into a sick joke online.
Last August, an online casino faced heavy criticism after it made fun of the McCanns in a sick publicity stunt related to Manchester United signing the French footballer Paul Pogba.

Investigator who exposed Jimmy Savile questions theory traffickers snatched Maddie McCann
THE TV investigator who exposed Jimmy Savile as a sex monster has questioned the police's new theory Madeleine McCann was snatched by a trafficking gang.
By Jerry Lawton / Published 6th December 2016
Mark Williams-Thomas suggested if traffickers had broken into the McCanns' Portuguese holiday apartment in 2007 instead of abducting Madeleine they would have probably taken her sister Amelie sleeping just feet away.
Skeptics have pointed out the younger child was only two and would have been easier to abduct, lighter to carry and smaller to conceal.
They claim she would have had poorer speech skills than her sister – who was then nearly four – and in time would have been less likely to be able to recall her ordeal or true family.
Mr Williams-Thomas, 46, who outed Savile as a paedophile in a documentary after his death, tweeted: ''How many cases exist of traffickers breaking into house & abducting a 3yr old from their bed whilst leaving another younger female child?''
For months the Metropolitan Police had believed missing Madeleine was taken by a burglary gang during a botched raid on her family's apartment.
But earlier this week it was revealed they now think she was snatched by traffickers who had been watching and photographing children in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz in the days leading up to her disappearance.
Scotland Yard detectives have had a tip a Belgian paedophile ring placed an order for a 'young girl' just three days before she vanished.
Portuguese police agree it is the most likely solution to a mystery that has gripped the world for nine years.
Brit officers have been given funding for four more months to find out what happened to the youngster.

Re: maddie gang probe
Typical that Kate would want us to believe that her child was so 'special' amongst all the other children in the vicinity, that it was she who was 'chosen' or 'ordered'.

But she was so special, as Kate so vividly described on page 129 of her book... How nice of her.
