MADELEINE McCann’s parents are facing further torment as the ex-cop behind shocking claims they covered up their daughter’s death prepares to publish a SECOND book days before the 10th anniversary of her disappearance.
But Kate and Gerry McCann said retired detective Goncalo Amaral’s “poisonous lies” will never be published in the UK because “no publisher will dare to touch it
The retired cop is penning the final pages of his second book on Maddie and wants it to be released by the end of April for “maximum impact” just days ahead of the painful 10th anniversary of her disappearance.
And the McCanns expect Amaral – who they say has hampered the global hunt for Maddie with false and malicious accusations while insisting she is dead – will continue being hurtful and controversial in book two.
A family source told The Sun Online: “Madeleine’s parents know that no publisher will dare to touch it in this country under our defamation laws or they would face legal action. Publishers have legal responsibilities.
“Let’s see what he says this time! He has written another book to coincide with the anniversary.
“If he repeats any allegations that he has made before Kate and Gerry’s lawyers will be looking at it.
“They have said before that their lawyers are watching.

Re: Amaral prepares to publish 2nd book days before anniversary
According to this article, the final pages are being written and the book will be released by the end of April. More than presumptive then to say the book contains poisonous lies. The "family" source expects false and malicious accusations and then the usual threat, 'the lawyers are watching'. Missing is the fact that their lawyers should be aware of, the Portuguese Court decision ruled on Mr. Amaral's right to freedom of expression and very importantly the McCanns have not been cleared.
I guess we can expect more of the same for the next month or so leading up to the tenth anniversary. The papers will be filled with the usual garbage but, in my opinion, more and more people are expressing their disgust with the McCanns' attitude (without even mentioning the cost to the taxpayers) so that in itself is a good thing. I think more and more people realize this has never been about Madeleine; the McCanns have made it all about them and saving their sorry behinds.

What a load of bullshit. Considering his second book was published and launched in 2009, you would think that these so called journalists would do some simple research, it pisses me off big time. It is his THIRD bloody book that is due out.

AMARAL AXES NEW BOOK?

Madeleine McCann's parents relieved as Portuguese cop axes controversial new book on case
Goncalo Amaral, who made vile claims about Maddie's disappearance in his 2008 book The Truth of the Lie, was said to have been planning a follow-up

The parents of Madeleine McCann have been told the policeman who made vile claims about her disappearance has shelved plans for a second book.
Goncalo Amaral, who led the hunt in the Algarve when Maddie vanished aged three a decade ago, was said to have been planning a new book on the case.
The Portuguese ex-detective’s 2008 book – The Truth of the Lie – claimed the McCanns faked an abduction. It was never released in the UK and sparked a legal battle between the former officer and Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry.
Amaral, 57, was planning a controversial follow-up but the Sunday Mirror can reveal the project has been axed.
His publisher and friend Manuel Fonseca – head of Guerra e Paz Editores, the firm which published Amaral’s first book – told us: “There is no book. It doesn’t exist, even as a draft. It may be he would like to work on a book some time, but for the moment that book doesn’t exist.”
A McCann source said: “It will be a huge relief for Kate and Gerry.”
Sources said the proposed book was to focus on Operation Grange, the £10million Metropolitan police probe into Madeleine’s disapperance. Amaral’s first book was published three days after Portuguese authorities closed the inquiry into Madeleine’s disappearance in 2008 and cleared Kate and Gerry of any wrongdoing.
The pair said Amaral’s book sparked a “massive tidal wave of lies” against them and last week they lost a third and final appeal to silence him in Portugal’s Supreme Court. They could now face a six-figure legal bill. Kate and Gerry, both 48, of Rothley, Leics, had sued Amaral over his book and he was ordered to pay them £360,000 in damages in 2015. .
Madeleine vanished from her parents’ Praia da Luz holiday flat on May 3, 2007.
This week a senior detective who carried out a three-year private probe revealed he believes an abductor will have confessed to a friend or relative. Retired Detective Inspector Dave Edgar said: “If anyone confided in you, now is the time to come forward.” He believes Maddie, who would now be 13, may still be alive.

Re: Amaral prepares to publish 2nd book days before anniversary
Rather confusing - The Sun says the book is coming out soon while the Mirror says the book, which was supposed to be about the OG investigation, has been axed. I have to wonder if the Portuguese publisher actually speaks to U.K. tabloids. I think it best to wait and see what the Portuguese press have to say. Possibly Mr. Amaral is awaiting the outcome of the OG investigation before going ahead. I guess the McCanns and "their lawyers are watching" will take credit for the "axing" and/or delay. All very confusing as I thought this second book was in the works for the last couple of years.
I'm dreading the next month or so in the lead up to the ten year anniversary of Madeleine's demise - I've had it up to 'here' with all the reports of her poor tortured parents.

Portugal Resident - new book

Tabloid scramble cranks up pressure on “second Maddie book”
No sooner had former PJ coordinator Gonçalo Amaral seen his right to freedom of expression upheld by the Supreme Court than UK tabloids have been scrambling themselves into a froth of indignation about a “second Maddie book” in the wings, threatening to pile yet more agony on the pain caused by his first: “Maddie: The Truth of the Lie”.
The fact that Amaral revealed he was writing a second book almost a year ago appears to have passed unnoticed (click here).
Tabloids have been full of the “McCann warning” that lawyers employed by renowned legal firm Carter Ruck “will be watching” in case Amaral publishes anything about the mystery in UK.
While the Sunday Express claims Amaral is looking for a “new publisher”, the Daily Mail describes him as “jubilant” and “finishing off the final chapter of his newly-penned book while taking a break in Switzerland”.
The paper also claims that “Truth of the Lie” was “never translated into English for publication in the UK because it would have breached strict libel laws”.
These are all more than likely to be reports that need to be taken with large quantities of salt.
Carter Ruck’s lawyers may well be watching, but the reality is that the finding of the appeal court last year - and dismissal of the subsequent McCann appeal by the Supreme Court last month - means that “Madeleine: The Truth of the Lie” is not considered defamatory after painstaking and rigorous legal challenges.
Indeed the 76-page decision taken by Supreme Court judges shows just how thoroughly the McCann's various claims were studied, and why they were thrown-out as not being sufficient to see Amaral fined vast quantities of money.
What the flurry of stories is more likely to be about is the fact that no-one really knows what Amaral proposes to do next.
He has refused requests for interviews, he has neither confirmed nor denied whether he will be counter-suing the McCanns for damages (as he intimated last year that he would), and he has not revealed when his next book will be ready.
It is the kind of suspense that British media outlets do not enjoy.
Meantime, as Correio da Manhã headlines on how much the McCanns have made by “selling stories about their pain” to media outlets, bystanders have been predicting a new Madeleine sighting, or indeed sightings “any day now” and “as soon as the weather improves” a new visit to Portugal by officers working on Operation Grange - the Metropolitan Police investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance said to have cost the British taxpayer around €15 million and which has purportedly been working on a “last throw of the dice” for the last three months.

I don't think anyone knows yet until Mr Amaral makes a comment himself about it. Just another example of how British press inventing stories to keep them in the public eye no doubt wanting more donations

Just as I thought - anything in the British press should be taken with LARGE quantities of salt.
Good for Mr. Amaral for keeping his cards close to his vest and for what he is keeping up his sleeve.
