Madeleine McCann The Movie: Maddie hell recreated in £20m film
WORK has begun on a £20million Netflix series about Madeleine McCann without her parents’ blessing.
By Jerry Lawton / Published 15th October 2017
The missing girl’s parents Kate and Gerry want nothing to do with the eight-part documentary.
Neither the couple nor the Tapas Seven pals with whom they were dining when Madeleine vanished from a Portuguese holiday apartment in 2007 will appear.
But that has not stopped London-based Pulse Films putting together a team of producers and researchers to make the show.
It is set to feature a dramatic reconstruction of events the night the three year-old disappeared.
Last week an executive visited Rothley, Leics, where the McCanns live to interview journalists who have worked on the story.
Producers hope to involve ex-Portuguese police chief Goncalo Amaral, who won a court battle against the McCanns after claiming Madeleine was accidentally killed, which they deny.
Netflix hopes to screen the series next spring.
McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell said Pulse Films had written to them.
He said: “Gerry said they did not want to get involved and that is also the view of their friends.” Last month, the Metropolitan Police were awarded £154,000 to continue inquiries for six months.
