British tourists try to snatch boy thinking he was Maddie.....Update.....

The young son of a player from Dinamo Zagreb (from Croatia) was almost snatched from her mother by a group of British tourists, who thought he was Madeleine McCann, according to the sports Spanish newspaper Marca. The blonde boy, Leone Drpic, son of Dinamo Zagreb football player Dino Drpic, two and a half years old, was with his mother in the island of Krk, when a British woman started to chat with the child. Nives Drpic, the footballer's wife, didn't pay much attention because she is a well know fashion model and is used to have people talking and taking pictures of her and her son, anywhere they go. When two British tourists spotted a woman leading a child with long blonde hair on the Croatian holiday island of Krk, they immediately thought it was Madeleine McCann.

The couple became even more convinced that the youngster was the missing Briton after secretly taking a couple of photographs.

So when the adult leading the child was not looking, the British woman grabbed the youngster's arm.

It was only then that she realised the child not only wasn't Madeleine, it wasn't even a little girl.

To make matters worse, the boy's father is a famous Croatian footballer and his mother - who was with him at the time - is a renowned glamour model.

Dino Drpic, who is a defender for Dinamo Zagreb and has several international caps, and his wife Nives are the Posh and Becks of Croatia.

Their son Leone has long blond hair like Madeleine's, but the similarity ends there - he is even six months younger than the missing three-year-old.

Today Nives told of the moment that the British couple mistakenly attempted to make off with their little boy.

She said: 'I started getting suspicious when the British woman approached Leone and started chatting with him.

'Suddenly she grabbed him by the arm, apparently thinking nobody was watching him.

'However, when I went over she realised her mistake and apologised.'

Nives said she was used to people staring and taking photographs of her because she and her husband are famous in Croatia.

The British couple have not been named.

Madeleine was three when she disappeared during a family holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3 last year.

Since then there have been false sightings as far apart as Morocco, Belgium, Chile and Venezuela.

If this lunatic tourist had touched a single hair of any child close to me, she would have a very hard time forgetting who I was because she would probably be eating through a straw for a couple of weeks until she was well enough to pay for her teeth implants.

This hysteria needs to stop. How long until abusers, paedophiles and all sorts of perverts start taking photos and approaching children and using the 'sorry, just checking if it was Madeleine McCann' excuse? If and when that happens, who will be held responsible? Maybe it really is time for parents of blonde children (one of these days dark haired children will also be watched because the big, bad abductor who parades with the most wanted child in the world would certainly dye her hair) to buy the famous 'I'm not Madeleine McCann' t-shirt. Before something really, really serious happens.

P.S: Any thinking, decent citizen who though he/she just spotted Madeleine McCann should alert other people who may be around and call the authorities. Secretely taking photos and grabbing an unknown child's arm is the sort of behaviour a pervert would display.

If I sincerely thought that a child was Maddie I would've doen the same thing. We all keep saying that people should act on impulse and just grab the child as quickly as possible, well this couple did just that so we really shouldn't be too hard on them.

Actually you are right....I said I would do that myself months ago on Sky and some ppl wanted to kill me

If I was 100% sure it was Maddie I would go up to her and run off to the nearest policeman....unlike all the other ppl who report it weeks or months later....

Everyone knows what Maddie looks like by now so how ppl can make a mistake like that amazes me!

I guess we could all go mad thinking about it....imagine if you are the parent of a four/five year old blond girl these day?? You would have to go around with a big sign on your head saying "This child is NOT maddie!!"

Well to be honest....how many blonde girls have you seen in the last 15 months? hundreds?

How many on them look even similar to Maddie? I havent seen one i could confuse for being her!


Once we know what someone really looks like we cant mistake anyone else for them....I've never seen a Brat Pitt look-a-like ever or I would have been arrested by now for it
