irwins gets involved in child safety,
Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin will shed their trademark khaki clothes at Australia Zoo and dress in red to promote child safety, later this month.
Daniel Morcombe was wearing a red shirt when he was abducted at the age of 14 from the Sunshine Coast in December 2003.
The Day for Daniel on October 30 is aimed at raising awareness of missing persons and child safety.
"We want children to get better educated about this, to avoid dangerous situations," Ms Irwin said in a statement.
"Every child deserves to be safe."
Australian Federal Police Commissioner Tony Negus said that two young people go missing every hour in Australia and child protection and safety is paramount for all Australians.
Daniel's parents urged people to support the day.
"It's not a day to be sad, it's a fun day, and it's a learning day," said Daniel's mother Denise.
"We are hoping to have 500,000 children involved.
"If we can help to save one child, hopefully we've done our job."
Organisers are hoping many Australians will join them on October 30 by wearing red, hosting a red-themed morning tea, inviting a police officer to talk at school, or by learning more online at www.beingsafetysmart.com.au.

Re: irwins gets involved in child safety,
I saw about Daniel on a program about missing children, he was waiting for a bus and just vanished, not trace seen again. His parents were the total opposite to the Mccans didn't try to blame anyone not even the bus driver who didn't stop. I wonder where he is?

It's the first time I ever heard of this case. It sounds very sad. I am just so mad that the McScum can have so much publicity, one missing child is just as important as the next IMHO.
